    How is no one talking about that intro? That was the coolest. I love the train running through the scene and you building around it. So fun!

      Thanks. I was looking for a way to yell the story or progress. The little MOW train helped me with that. ;-)

    Beautifully composed scene. Love the spur that dead ends between the buildings. Great visual trick. Looks like it keeps on going. Roads, signs and ground cover all look great. The mix and sheer number of vehicles bring the whole scene to life with a busy look that says this is the late 50's and, oh yeah, the intro is superb.

      Thanks Thomas, I am also quite please with how the scene turned out. Can't wait to have the first operation session and see it all come to life.

    I love the gritty feel of the industrial areas you highlighted. That's the reality of 1950s American railroads.
    The greenery is a tough area coming up. So many overdue it and just use St. Patrick's Day green scenic material right from the can. It looks like it was painted. You do a great job avoiding that. 👍

      @DubaiTrains  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Would Rustoleum neon green also work to recreate some subtle overgrown trackage?

    I'm back ! It's getting more and more beautiful, detailed and well mixed. That big quiet round building is so amazing. Not a huge fan of the era you're modeling but it's very well done. Keep on your good work !

      Great to hear you are back! It is finally starting look like what I envision, and have been 'selling' on the channel for some time. The big round building I find, is impressive cos of its size in combination with its shape.

    You’re right about the 80/20 thing, just adding ground cover in that area really makes the while scene look a lot more finished. Also helps that a lot of the buildings in the background are finished or at a very advanced stage of building.

    • @DubaiTrains
      @DubaiTrains  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi Ben, yes exactly. I think ill finish the background and some more buildings first before moving on.

      @@DubaiTrains haha, fair enough. I lived in Dubai about 10 years ago and remember that there were no local hobby shops. Do you find it difficult getting model train bits and pieces or is mail order enough?

    • @DubaiTrains
      @DubaiTrains  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It's all mail order now a days. That can be frustrating especially for scenery where one would like to see the product / color first hand before committing. So I might have a few lbs or ballast I will never use ;-P

    This is looking really good. I loved the intro, too. By the way, I have recently moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Do you know anything about the model railroading scene there or in Dubai where you are. It would be great to meet up with some others. Keep up the great work!

    Your rail road looks great except for the paved areas and then they suck. Watch Boomer Diorama and see how the paved areas can look easily. He is a master and a great teacher,

    Is this based on the Kingsbury Branch in Chicago?

    • @DubaiTrains
      @DubaiTrains  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi J. Yes it is. I have a video on that somewhere. I would say inspired more then based. I took the core elements and made my own.

  • @ajkleipass
    @ajkleipass Před 4 měsíci

    This is NOT a nit-picking question.... are the signage and road markings based on a specific reference, or did you wing them based on feel? I know that stop signs used to yellow in some places before the universal red standard. But some of the other warning signs look far too modern for your era. I know that, eventually, I'll need to familiarize myself with 1940s New Jersey road signs for my layout. If you have a resource, please share it.

    • @DubaiTrains
      @DubaiTrains  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I did do some research on the road markings. For the colors the 50s was a transition from yellow to white. As far as the actual markings and locations I would say it is proto inspired. What could work, without getting lost in all kinds of technicalities. Looking at various prototypes there also does not seem to be a standard for said era. The markings defining the parking lane in particular are all over the place. No line, stripes, white, yellow.
