I live in Australia and can confirm that blue tongue lizards roam in yards etc, but they aren’t super common, so it’s exciting when you see one still (at least in the area of Victoria I live in). We have these other little skinks that are everywhere where I live though. People do keep blue tongues as pets too though, I really wanted one a few months ago as one of my dads students (he’s a biologist/ecologist) was rehousing one and my partner said no because he felt weird about keeping a native animal as a pet... then recently we’ve been discussing getting another pet (one that’s “his”) and he said “how about we get a blue tongue lizard?” 😒😒😒
ahaha yeah I live in Australia too and quite a few times we will see blue tongue lizards roaming the school yards which is always fun. I’ve always thought they were beautiful animals and if I were to keep any lizard as a pet I would immediately think of s blue tongue lizard but it is kind of weird to own something in a tank that you see outside of your home.
Little Meowmaid I live in New South Wales and I literally see them everyday. It's basically like having pets, they are always popping their heads out and running around.
Little Meowmaid at our old house (VIC) we used to have a little blue tongue come to our door and just sit there for like an hour a day for about a year (until we got a cat lol)
K Elliot that’s how I feel about birds, we have so many king parrots, rosellas and cockatoos that they are basically our pets, we’ve named a few of them. We live out in the hills, so there’s echidnas in the forest behind my house most time I walk through there which is cool!

I really loved this video. I've watched Taylor most of this afternoon (slow work day), but always feels like she's holding out on us a little in terms of sharing what she knows about the animals--but in this video you actually learn a lot. Taylor is really likeable and undergrad degree (or more!) in marine biology smart. The music selection is usually pretty cool, too. (coming from a guy who likes Doom metal)
Taylor's voice is very soothing. She is awesome and so cool, and has lots of compassion. Her videos are the best. I think we all really miss her content.
I have no interest in getting any of these animals, but there is just something so soothing when someone is talking so passionately about something they love as well as educating others who might be considering getting something. I love this girl's content (and all of her babies!).

She was already doing heroin by this time I believe, from the dullness (maybe caused from withdrawals) to the track marks. When she talks about the "burn mark" I'm pretty sure that's a track mark. But hey, I'm glad she's doing a lot better now and she has my full support. This was also when she started to take in animals at a rapid pace, when she talks about the ball pythons.
Lol the burn mark is not a track mark. Those 2 things look completely different.

Hi Taylor, I’m like 15 hours late but I just wanted to say that you may like to get a tube UVB for Twisty. I noticed you had the double dome, which usually comes with the compact UVB coil. It isn’t strong enough for bearded dragons and can cause digestion issues and MBD. I’d recommend getting a ReptiSun T8 10.0 that covers at least 3/4s of the viv. It looks like your vivarium is under 40 gallons from the shots shown, so a T5 would be too strong. An Arcadia 12% would be good too but again I’m not sure about the exact dimensions of your tank. The UVB also has to be under the mesh as the mesh blocks up 50% of the UVB.

Yes. Proper UVB will increase the appetite and growth rate of dragons. They need UVB to make D3 and use the calcium in their bodies. Without calcium they won’t grow much and may be stunted or develop metabolic bone disease, which in most cases is not reversible. I got mine when I had a low budget so I had to save up a bit for UVB. It was only a week without UVB, but my dragon was not as active, not much of an appetite, and was a dull colour. As soon as my UVB tube arrived, she perked up within an hour. She ran around her vivarium and she turned into a bright orange colour!
Just remember to replace it every 6-12 months depending on which brand. Reptisun T5/T8 10.0 both lasts 12 months if used 12 hours a day. Arcadia 12% (for enclosures shorter than 2-3ft), and 14% (enclosures taller than 2-3ft), both lasts 12 months as well when used for 12 hours a day. You can replace it sooner but it’s up to you. Tested with a SolarMeter, still puts out enough output after 12 months.

out of curiosity, how high does your electric bill run? i only have a turtle and my parents complain about how much his set up makes the bill cost, i can't imagine how high yours must be with all of the animals you have!
Shell- WOOW i can relate i have 2 turtles and my parents are saying that they want to give them away because of the filter (electric bill) but they never do bc they love them as much as i do :)
If you find out your electric rate you can do a formula to see how much it costs. I did the math and found out my turtles set up is not as high as I thought it was. Here is a link to the formula that will automatically generator the answer for you. energyusecalculator.com/electricity_spaceheater.htm since my electricity rate is around .8 cents my uvb bulbs costs about .44 cents a month to run, and my basking bulb about 2.19 a month. I sometimes think parents overestimate the bills to entice the child to get rid of the animals.

When one of your snakes is close to shed I suggest you put in a humidity box so it is easier for their shed to come off but of course if your snakes are already doing alright shedding without a humidity box then you dont have to do it, just a suggestion.
