Speirs Centre listed building in Alloa was once old baths in Alloa and is named after the great Tommy speirs who was British flyweight champion. It’s now a library and is part of the local council offices.
Allloa Dock IN 1815, the port of Alloa became independent, which lasted nearly 80 years until the Trustees sold it to North British Rail and then the North British Transport Company.
Alloa glassworks Alloa Glass Works was opened around 1750 by Lady Frances Erskine on the edge of the river Forth on the southern boundary of Alloa. The site has since expanded and much of the site has been redeveloped to ensure the continued success of the plant. The works has kept one of its glass cones, dating back to around 1825. It has a conical brick structure on a stone base. The cone - named the Northern cone - is the only such structure to survive in Scotland and is one of just four in the United Kingdom. On the 10th of November 1975, the structure was given the status of a scheduled ancient monument. It is one of seventeen scheduled ancient monuments located within Clackmannanshire.
Alloa old Kirk In the old churchyard are the remains of the parish church, which was repaired and enlarged in 1680. All that is left is the west gable with the bell-tower, the latter resembling the tower of the (17th century) Tolbooth at Clackmannan It was oblong on plan with a N aisle.
