    Hi TGV
It’s a good idea with this kind of videos I think...
This is more a comment than a question. I know what you mean about being fussy when matching a watch with your clothes. But another thing comes into consideration when you are to choose between two watches, namely matching with the other pieces in your collection...
I would prefer the 009 just because of the more original look of it. But I have a blue Seamaster 300 and from that point of view I would probably go for the 007. It would give my collection more variation.
If I had no other watches at all I would probably still go for the 007 because it matches all kinds of clothes. But I still love the look of the 009😉
    Keep up the good work👍

I like the idea of a new series and more frequent uploads from you. Reminds me a bit of Scotty Kilmer's short-form car advice videos, but a lot classier lol.
Speaking of cars, there seems to be sort of a parallel in the stigmas surrounding engineering philosophies of Japanese/European car manufacturing and Japanese/European watchmaking with the Japanese tending toward simplicity and reliability, and Europeans tending toward mechanical complexity and craftsmanship (both having their exceptions, of course). I'd like to hear your thoughts in one of these Gentry in a Jiffy videos as to how and why this dichotomy came to be.

    • @adlanhaziq
      @adlanhaziq Před 5 lety

Read about European Yellow Peril. The stigma goes far beyond watches. As a South East Asian myself, I have witnessed how lowly some Europeans view Asia. Only recognising Japan and Korea, brushing the rest of us off as poor and stupid. Not all of them, of course. Though the few European gentlemen I’ve met are definitely the exception, not the rule. Hope that answers your question. Cheers from Malaysia

I bought the 009 then the 007. I was a G-SHOCK wearer but always liked the dive watch look. I bought the 007 when it was confirmed the SKX was discontinued but felt it was ridiculous to have two of the same styles so I sent it back. The next day I regretted that decision and emailed the company. They returned the 007 to me and now I'm satisfied. I got the skx009 because of the colour scheme and fitting. Its unique in the sense that you only need one of that colour scheme and the rest of the seikos or other pepsi schemed wathes have a different dimension/weight/feeling. Whereas if you look at the black sub line, there are so many out there that the differentiation between them can really get nitpicky until it only depends on the branding. So i got 1 skx009 and probebly will get a more higher end black sub.

When thinking about an SKX, think also about the Citizen NY0040. I love both watches, but the 0040 has a really special place in my heart, so much that I own it in 3 different dial configurations (black, blue and full luminous). I find it to be more elegant than the SKX, by being thinner and having applied hour markers. In terms of toughness, I put them above the SKX, since I never had a problem with my NY0040 in 10 years of abuse, whereas I had to tighten the rotor of my 007 after a year because it came loose. Both outstanding watches anyway, that I actually use as dive tools.

Hi TGV, i really love your videos! Can i ask for your opinion? I am planning to buy an skx 013, but as of now, i have this citizen promaster ny0054 200m diver. I just want to ask if the ny0054 is somehow a good diver’s watch overall in general? Thanks TGV.

The title says "& new series announcement", but i didn't hear it in the video. Can you tell us something about retirement of 007 and 009 in April this year? That was the information i got from official Seiko shops, but i think there's still nothing officially announced. Do you know anything about that?

I actually set out to get a 007 because I like submariners but am poor, but after much research I have ended up with a 009 on the jubilee strap, it was how it looked on a red/blue nato that changed my mind though dark blue suede & shark mesh are in the post too, love it.

I had the 007 v 009 dilema and decided on the 009 as i wanted that pop of colour and its a weekend/jeans watch for me so the blue works well. One thing is if you buy and later decide you made a mistake you can change the bezel easily, the face is so dark blue you really would wouldn’t notice its not black.

Hi guys! There's another model out now, the SRPD55 which is part of Seiko's new 5 Sport lineup. Should I get one of these or buy the SKX007?
The SRPD55 has a water resistance of 100m as opposed to 200m, and a different movement - 4R36 as opposed to the 7S26. Thanks a lot!

    Hi TGV,
Love the videos. Am in a bit of a dillema, I set to buy my first Seiko. But I can't make up my mind. Between 7S, and 4R movements. I know the difference between the Two. Am a normal user, so self winding and hacking are not a big factors, or so I think. . What would you say. Am particularly interests in SKZ209j1. It's not a new model but I just love the way it looks. And it's 7S36 moment.what Do you suggest?

After watching your channel for a couple of years now, I've gathered quite a watch collection but nothing too crazy. My priciest watch is the SBDC031. I have a dozen watches ranging from SKX007, SRPA21, SRPB99, SNA411 and much more. I love 60% of my watches, the rest are old designer watches. I'm wondering, should I sell everything and get something more high end? Sometimes I think it would be fun to own just one high end watch but then again, i'd miss the flexibility of having a large collection to choose from. What do you think?

I recently purchased a Hamilton Khaki King (champagne dial) and am impressed with the accuracy (-1.8 sec/day over 2 weeks). I'm looking for another Hamilton to add to my small but growing collection. Is there another Hamilton you'd recommend to compliment the Khaki King? I have 7.5" wrist, so any suggestions you'd have for another Hamilton 40mm (minimum) would be appreciated.

Had my SKX007 for about a year and a half and the movement decided to stop working properly... the second hand would stop and start. Sometimes the hand would get stuck with a shake. Then it would start to move again with another shake. If the watch were to be left alone without being disturbed the hand would tick along fine. It's only when the watch is disturbed will it start playing up. Any ideas?
