    Regular shoes cost $80 these days. To get a year out of an $80 shoe that comes with a clip insert that you are tugging on the sole of with all of your leg strength likely hundreds of thousands or millions of times, in that time span, is pretty damn good. I pay $150 for work boots that I'm lucky to get a year out of.

      LOL! Bought GLOBE VICE SS in 2011, used them almost everyday and they are still with me - only the inner lining on the heels worn to plastic. And they also smell like sheet after 6 years despite of several times I cleaned them in washing machine.

    • @jaykan1002
      @jaykan1002 Před 6 lety

      LOL! these are bike shoes... they clip into the pedals. When you pull up on the pedals, it's basically 2 counter forcing pulling the upper and sole apart. That's not something that happens to regular shoes very often... unless you stepped in wet concrete lololol

    I feel that 80 dollars is really really good for a shoe that lasts a year. i mean some shoes that at just for looks cost more.

  • @leonh619

    For $80, used for cycling AND walking around like normal, you got off cheap. My last pair of DZR's lasted about 8 months, I paid $70 for that model at the time. I used them for bike polo, commuting, and wore them all day walking around plenty of times. I cannot complain about the quality for money here. After I reached out to them about wearing out, they sent me a new pair, free of charge. This may not happen for everyone, but my experience with dzr shoes has been great.

    Glad I found this video. I wanted visual proof that they do fail around the heel. So to make it short. If you ride under 10 mph these are perfect. They'll last at least a year. However if you ride an average of 18 mph in a busy city like NY where you stop and start constantly don't expect them to last a month.

  • @augustgames6502
    @augustgames6502 Před 6 lety

    Must say, I think that's sounds pretty durable. I think the fact that they clip in and also provides softness is a difficult combination. The soft parts will constantly grind and stretch where they're next to unforgiving stiff parts. 1 year of daily use sounds pretty good.

    Chrome Kursk 2.0 is a huge plus. I have mine for more than a year or 2 at least and it is still in excellent condition. I would call it bombproof but maybe it would be due to the different city and different way we ulitise the shoe itself. But sad to know that DZR product doesn't hold up.

      I ride a pair of dice with eggbeaters. They pair nicely, considering the small platform of the pedals. However, the close to one square inch of surface area with the beaters definitely plays a role in power transfer.

    • @GreyFawkes0

      They should have come with a plastic shim that you install between the cleat and the platform of the shoe to extend the clip depth.

    • @GreyFawkes0
      @GreyFawkes0 Před 8 lety

      +LURX da GOART some small washers would work. Personally I'd try to find something plastic to sit between them, to dampen some vibration. Also, more importantly, you'll notice there are small notches in the cleats that help dig into the plastic shims usually provided to prevent shifting, and to be able to tighten the cleats enough so they don't loosen

    I really like how you used your phone to get good audio. Inventive!
    But the shoes to me look like they're under-engineered for what they're meant to be. A converse-style sneaker shoe is just not designed for the kind of forces the user puts on them when riding a bike, cleats and all. The constant pushing and pulling on the seams just tears these shoes apart- combine that with sweat ingress and you're looking at a broken, disgusting shoe three months in. They really need to re-engineer their shoe to be able to take the kind of force. There is a reason cycling shoes are so rigid.

    I think ridin clipless with this kind of more sneaker shoes is a expensive, bad quali, and ugly compromise to cages (with good laminated straps toshi/mks alpha and some Track pedals with no grip). If clipless than with stiff mtb/road shoes only...I ride some more expensive mks straps+ mks track nuevo cause they stay in place so you can fit them a little loose for fast exit and in case of a crash but they tight enough for pedaling and skids + 100% freedom with you shoes (no click click special shoes, and easy walking).

    365 days per year (240 days per month bike commute)*
    80 dollars cost DZR
    -----------------------------
    80 / 240 = $0.333 cents per day, DZR shoe cost
    .33 cents per day to own/ DZR shoe
    *I agree, the DZR shoe should never delaminate at the sole; this shoe should be glued and sewn at the sole.
