It's fun to see this video 7 years later. When I first saw it I had just moved to Portland and was busy with school. Now, I know my way around - I rode on the Hawthorne Bridge on my way home from a bike thing (on my brakeless Affinity Lo-Pro, wearing my Chrome Kursk AP Pro shoes and old school Chrome knickers). I know exactly where Damian is riding, in one part he's just a few blocks from where I'm typing this in my downtown apartment. Portland may be a small city but it has solid public transit, every sort of bookstore you can think of and many you can't, we have 4 photo labs, a fixed gear only bike shop, several cargo bike shops, a few used parts/bikes shops, a few community shops, at least one mountain bike shop ... I can keep going. Portland is a rad place. So much has changed. That wonderful Chrome hub is no longer there, Chrome no longer does community events or makes these videos, at least for now. Damien moved to LA but then back here to Portland. I never met him and I don't know if he still rides. I've since sold my wool Cobra hoody and a ton of my Chrome gear (I had a lot from over the years), maybe I should get another once since they make colors again.
Wow Thank you for the memories, I was a bike messenger as a teenager in New York City back in the 70s. I had no idea they still had bike messengers. I'll never forget zigzagging between all those cars to make the delivery as fast as possible in order to deliver more than other curriers, we used to get paid by speed and number of packages.
You are a braver man than I. I have a (freewheel) single speed to commute to work on, but there is no way I'm jousting with downtown traffic with no brakes.
I have been using the same chrome Citizen since 2013 and it is still holds up like the day, I bought it. I have crashed in it and don't even follow chromes instructions for care lol. I have nearly 60k miles logged on strava with this bag and I can say this bag is well worth the price!
whats with all the fixie riders getting drop handlebars that are way to deep for them to comfortably use them, and then they end up riding 99% on the tops
First off, vintage track bikes like he has didn't have compact drops, so it might be difficult to find some that would mount with that kind of stem. Secondly, roadies are doing the exact same thing with slamming their stems and riding bikes that are too small for them with huge saddle to bar drop distance, which makes being on the tops even more aggressive than being in the drops on a "properly fitting bike."
i could come up with million reasons why its done the way it is but its never going to change your predetermined perception. Though, to be honest, just shut up and ride whatever you are comfortable with, and leave others to determine whats best for them.
it's easier to maneuver from the tops because in the drops the bar hits your forearm. So they set it up so they ride on the hoods, but remain aero still. Maybe he can ride the drops who knows.
Really awesome. If I may add, Try to keep locks away from your body. Incase of accident, bike locks specially U locks will cause more injury. Put it in the molle part of the bag. :)
The problem is that according to death statistics, cyclists die from being hit by a car and the helmet does nothing in those cases. Unfortunately, people who have cars and have never ridden a bicycle do not respect the space and safety of cyclists when meeting them on the street.
How do you ride downhills brake less? like i know that you have to skid but isnt it really difficult and plus, theres always that blind spot where cars can pop out
his legs are fucking ripped
Still one of my favorite streets of chrome videos. Still inspires me to take a ride every once in a while
such a beautiful bike
It's okay.... But I work at a bicycle shop.
And legs...
Steel and Plain design but expensive than a road bike wtf
Such a beautiful bike! Such a rad edit. Watched this one and the one with Mike riding through Brooklyn so many time! 👌
That bike looks sweet!!! Future goals: Legs like that!!!
Watched this video back in the day, still inspiring.
damn that bike, I love that feel when wheel almost touches the the frame when the frame is like retro looking
Totally inspirational.

What a poetry life, God bless you, bro.
That's an amazing work you do
I really liked it mate - nice to see life from your angle, thanks
You are a braver man than I. I have a (freewheel) single speed to commute to work on, but there is no way I'm jousting with downtown traffic with no brakes.
Ramond Ferreal also as someone who commutes by fixie in a city, going brakeless is just stupid and a danger to other people
Love the filming. Its so good
This guy Rocks - keep crankin'
I like the geometry of the bike. Compact and proper.
Fantastic 👍
beautiful bike & beautiful helm
Hey Jamie, how many miles do you ride on a working day?

I need that bag.
1:24 the front tire is almost touching the down tube!

Gotta love Chrome
great vid...
Nice bike and great guy.
Nice bike, what's your chainring and rear cog ring
Molecular tire clearance.
+Chrome Industries Official u should really consider comeing to other countries like Germany too in terms of shops in big citys
+Flo Mah Where in Germany?
I live in Bremen, which is more north... but shops would be nice in citys like Cologne, Berlin, Bremen ofc, Muinch and Hamburg.
+Chrome Industries Official A shop in Sweden's capital Stockholm would be great. Scandinavians do bike a lot and are keen on picking up urban trends.
barcelona...
Berlin for sure!
Hi! What's your gear ratio Damian? Thx in advance.
That bike is 🔥🔥🔥
What a life!
Thats a slick bike but im scared for him he so fast without brakes what a legend
with the high amount of rain in the north west, what is a way to not get discouraged ? I may have a few job offers near Bremerton.
what kind of shorts are those? so cool.

Man I have to ask - what bike is that?
what a cool man

Because a slammed quill stem and a big drop look super cool for Instagram and when you walk up to it in the street or garage.
Goriaas because they are faster
it's easier to maneuver from the tops because in the drops the bar hits your forearm. So they set it up so they ride on the hoods, but remain aero still. Maybe he can ride the drops who knows.
You can open letters with that front wheel clearance!
Those legs prove how long you've been doing it. Great work my friend 🙂👍.
saludos desde mexico
Those shoes are sweet! Where can some of those?
We are redeveloping our SPD compatible shoes right now so you can't get those anymore. We'll have some more in the future. Keep your eyes peeled!
カッコいい!
Ami Henin yeap
Probably.
Really awesome. If I may add, Try to keep locks away from your body. Incase of accident, bike locks specially U locks will cause more injury. Put it in the molle part of the bag. :)
So weird for me living in Amsterdam and seeing another big city without hardly any bikes or bike parking
those quads aaaaaaa
What is the brand of that maroon bag? Please answer, thanks!
The quads on this guy
Are the coats available in the UK? It's just what I was looking for. Can't see anything like it on the Chrome website. Quite Carharttesque. Cheers.

Legs like Jan Ullrich 1998
Красавчик! Байк - огонь!
What kind of bike helmet are you using?
I have cycled from Seattle to Miami in 2018 and still remember Portland as worst bigger city to ride a bike due to the rough road surfaces
Not much has changed in that respect. Streets in Portland remain rough.
I remember Bart from chrome when they were in Denver back in 95
we need to see more people promoting with helmets! Awesome video.
The problem is that according to death statistics, cyclists die from being hit by a car and the helmet does nothing in those cases. Unfortunately, people who have cars and have never ridden a bicycle do not respect the space and safety of cyclists when meeting them on the street.
@@Killerhap do you have a source for this? It would be interesting to see if they factored in cyclists being hit by cars whilst wearing a helmet.
I own this bag absolutely amazing what you can get in it
What’s it called
Johnny drama is gonna be jealous of those calves
Viva Cicli Casati!

Does anyone know what bag the red backpack is? Cheers!
Are these bikes usually custom made by the rider? It's hard to find a fixie (not a singlespeed) with dropbars.
Super easy to swap.

How do you ride downhills brake less? like i know that you have to skid but isnt it really difficult and plus, theres always that blind spot where cars can pop out
