The whole alter ego thing, the "wanting to be stronger" motive and the fact that Chihiro is a character that is easy to sympathize with makes a great plot twist. There was some art for this and from that it looked like Akane was going to be a rival to Hajime in the trials. Solely off what I saw, it looked like she was going to challenge Hajime's arguments so basically like a scrum debate but instead of everyone in the debate, it's just a one vs one with Hajime against Akane. Whilst Owari means to end or the end
And that's about it, I'm pretty sure people also see that one image with Imposter, Akane, Chiaki, and Hajime. But for all we know Akane couldve been a helper, and she sometimes disagrees with the protag (also because they have very different views on life, and their living situations, I mean Akane is one of the few characters that we know was Poor, whilst I imagine Hajimes parents to be richer because the reserve course costs alotta money)

I've actually done something similar for the fangan I'm making! There's a girl, and her ultimate is the Ultimate Therapist. The reason why I thought it would be interesting for *her* of all people to be the mastermind is because of her talent and her overall crazy personality. Her, being a therapist, every other student would vent to her and tell her secrets, allowing her to know more information about the individual, and can use that against them. She would also know a lot about psychology, so she could understand the thought process of her fellow classmates after they talk for a while. I'm really proud of myself for making this idea, but I'm not sure how to put it into action.

SHUICHI SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE V3 MASTERMIND.
Think about it Keade the original protagonist was killed you got despair by that right?
Now imagine if Shuichi moved on quickly from Keade’s death and was all of a sudden more optimistic. Now most people wouldn’t notice this rushed character arc but some will. Then Shuichi reveals himself to be the mastermind.

      @Kjf365 Před 3 lety +46

@@DerpyHiro It does seem like Atua is actually real in the game however. In the first investigation Atua tells Angie to "watch the monopad" which becomes a pivotal point at the end of the game, and then later says that the mastermind was hiding in the room. Waiting for the moment to strike. Both of which ended up being true. Then, later, her resolve to stop wanting to leave the academy and not use Flashback lights would have actually worked given the audience would get bored eventually and the flashback lights being fake just as a tool to manipulate them.
To go even further to explain how Atua started being "wrong" after the first trial (I don't remember Atua ever actually being wrong in ch1) I think the first flashback light influenced her personality and so she started using Atua as a scapegoat for her own ideas and feelings with Atua saying very little in reality. Not to mention that in ch1 she also acted fairly normal aside from the blood offerings thing. With how close she was in the first trial to blowing the lid off the whole thing, the mastermind would have panicked and wanted to discredit her. So she made her into a nut job that used a god to make excuses for her actions. And nobody cared what she had to say anymore.

But yeah, I think seeing him in a mastermind form could have been pretty cool as well. Everything could have been good about it, except for the fact that you are slightly led to believe he may be the traitor because of how he acted. The other characters all had that suspicion, possibly trying to make the player believe that as well. I actually made a few rewrites with a mastermind Kirumi, Gonta, and Rantaro!-
Rantaro's motive was revenge for being in a KG and wanted to put others through the same pain and despair as he was in.
    Gonta's motive- iscurrentlyaworkinprogess
And Kirumi's motive was she was tired of being bossed around and realized how much power and control she has and could gain- she wanted to become a dictator of the sorts. So in order to put that in motion she made and recorded the KG to threaten the people: "This is what I can do, don't go against me".

In the first game, if it wasn't for spoilers and people cosplaying Junko everywhere, I would've thought Sayaka was going to be the mastermind.
Think about it, the person closest to you in the game, who is in fact loved by almost everyone, being the mastermind would be very despair inducing. With her being the first one to start with the killing, and with Makoto gaining motivation and hope to fight for all of his friends deaths (but mainly for her), all to be crushed at the end by her reveal. It'll also make Makoto's hope speech even more inspiring because knowing someone close to you is the mastermind and defeating them is way harder than defeating someone you don't have any emotional attachment to.
Another (popular) one would be Makoto. Now I know mastermind! Makoto is pretty popular, but this is my take on it.
We know that Makoto is a bit insecure about being average, so I imagine him starting the killing game would be due to his jealousy. Besides, in chapter 1 he had one of the strongest motives to kill. Stronger that Sayaka's I daresay. We know that most of the cast have had a hard life outside (ex:Toko, Taka, Mondo, etc...) but makoto had a fairly normal life, arguably the best life out of all of the cast. So isn't it suspicious that he didn't even think about killing someone? It's because he knows it's useless. His family is fine and he can go outside whenever he wants to. He'd make a pretty cool mastermind, although I think this twist would be a bit early for the first game.

There were multiple times when I thought that the story turns out for Hajime to be the mastermind for 3 main reasons:
    1. He didn't have an ultimate talent the entire time whilst the main protag was him in one person.
    2. Both Naegi and Shuichi refers to each others role as behave like detectives but having many opportunities from multiple possible masterminds to kill them, they both got away with it, Hajime is having a hidden Remnants of Despair self who is obviously non-other than Izuru Kamukura. The true identity of the same person as the mastermind. In this matter Nagito taking the Hope role like how Naegi, Hajime and Keebo took it normally, faking that he believes in hope whilst he pretend that, but he is so damn lucky even without his knowledge another hope rises which actually help him and the rest of the students out of the killing game, furthermore preventing Chiaki from being murdered. If Nagito and Hajime both switching sides like that, the tables could turn not 180, not 360 but 720 degrees this way without the plot being harmed.
    3. Junko already died and so the writer could've lead Junko to be an AI only who has nothing to do with anything happen with the school regulations, nor with Monokuma, but Hajime actually continuously cooperate with Usami who inderectly made Hajime make mistakes. Usami was the one taken down the giant version of Junko Enoshima, but for Usami, who hates violations would make sense for not killing Junko's AI. As Usami used her power to kill Junko's AI then she must be no different than Monokuma, which refers everything back to Hajime and his unknown ultimate talent.
These were real potentials for us to be playable characters and being the mastermind simultaneously. Chunsoft didn't think the plot that way. SDR2 could've been even better this way.

I got a bit disappointed when in V2 Junko ended up coming back as the mastermind(I mean it was technically Izuru but he wasn't there most of the time) because I thought it would be fun trying to guess the mastermind again. I also think in V3 the fact that it was Tsumugi wanting to be like Junko made the mastermind reveals for V2 and V3 a bit disappointing and I would have much preferred the people listed in the video.

In my opinion, Shuichi being the mastermind is gonna be cool. Like in the first chapter, we don't play as Shuichi when he left to go check the people who went to the AV room, I would like to see him kill Rantaro and get away with it just because Kaede protected him, so Kaede is sacrificed just because she decided to protect Shuichi who happens to be the mastermind

There's also the fact that he's odd man out as far as the ages of everyone in the class goes - he's an adult from the beginning even with his memories stripped. That discrepancy makes suspecting him all the more reasonable. It makes sense to assume that if the mastermind were one of the classmates, it would be the one that doesn't belong in their cohort.

I feel like my prime suspect as the mastermind in Danganronpa 2 was Mikan. I thought she was gonna be the mastermind because of one reason. Hiyoko was _really_ mean to Mikan. Well, she was mean to everyone, but Mikan in specific. I thought there were gonna be there was gonna be six people who survived again, and I thought Mikan and Hiyoko were gonna be one of the last survivors and Mikan would've revealed her secret. I wanted to see the look on Hiyoko's face when Mikan revealed that she was the mastermind. I also wanted Mikan's "beloved" Junko to be there too. When it was Junko again, it was still cool though. But I do think Mikan had very good potential.

I personally feel like Chiaki would've been the perfect person to be mastermind because of her role in the game and anime. She was an ai in the game meaning it would have been totally impossible for her code to be changed and make her evil, and it would just be a big plot twist to find out this kind loveable gamer girl wasnt just an ai but an evil ai who was making them go through all this, and it was also would contrast nicely with how in the anime Chiaki brought everyone together and if in the game she was the one tearing them apart.

What if Junko and Naegi were the masterminds and if all of this was just a game, a game between hope and despair, a game between Junko and Naegi who Monokuma is the referee. A game in the fictionnal world "Danganronpa" like it was told in V3. They played 53 killing games until the pawns themselves had enough. + What if in the 52 killing games before the last one both Naegi and Junko had a equal score and in the end nobody win (but technically Naegi win even if in the end Shuichi and the others reject hope an despair, they still optimistic). I am really going to far on this one X)...

I always suspected something was off with Sonia, solely because of the Novoselic Kingdom itself. I kept waiting for someone to truly start questioning all this lore she was throwing out about a kingdom they'd never heard of and that couldn't be found on any maps. Her logic for its existence and cartographical exclusions always seemed flimsy at best (although I think that was just meant to be a meta joke) and I just assumed she was either lying about being the Ultimate Princess, lying about which kingdom she ruled, or lying about not being the mastermind.

I didn’t necessarily think she was the mastermind, but I had searched up who would kill Nagito in Danganronpa 2 before I went into the chapter.
    *Spoilers, I guess:*
When I saw Komaeda’s body with the knowledge of Chiaki being the culprit, I thought that she might’ve had a dark, twisted, evil side of her. Komaeda’s corpse was a shock to me, and it immediately made me think that Chiaki was actually very cruel and had been bottling up her emotions throughout the game. She seemed emotionless throughout her free-time events (yes, of course I went through her events first), so I didn’t think it was off the table. Personally, I think it might’ve been cooler if Nagito had a sad death; it would’ve explained to me why the fan base has such a fascination with him. Alas, Komaeda was just a creepy, crazy, and weirdly sad boy and Chiaki was not the twist villain that I might’ve wanted.

Chiaki being the mastermind would've made so much sense considering the fact that she's the Ultimate Gamer and Danganronpa 2 is essentially a game (I mean it's technically a simulation but close enough). I could see her being twisted and evil enough to bring real people into a real killing game just because she got bored of video games and want to try playing with real people. And the fact that she was essentially a symbol of hope in canon would've worked so well with this version too-maybe she never got killed by Junko and is disappointed at the fact that her classmates are Remnants of Despair, so she willingly joined the Neo World Program to turn it into a killing game as a punishment for her classmates, under the guise of her "helping her friends out"? Maybe they could make it so that Chiaki looks like she's helping her classmates, but in reality she's guiding them towards despair with toxic positivity? And her execution would've been a perfect execution for a video game mastermind

this may sound odd but i actually think makoto would make the perfect mastermind. he’s always considered as average and basic and boring, which draws almost no attention to him as everybody else is more notable, making him the least suspicious of being the mastermind. he even says to kyoko in chapter 6 of thh that someone as ordinary and basic as him can never be the mastermind.
his reason for being the mastermind also fits well: because he’s so average he gets bored of how bland his life is, but he can’t do anything because it’s just who he is. but after finding out that despair can cure his boring, basic life, he wants to spread it so other normal people like him would no longer be bored of themselves. imagine that plot twist

just to add on to a hypothetical kaito mastermind idea. i remember the game talking about some gofer disease or something like that. kaito also became super sick with no explanation as to why. if he had this disease, that would've connected him to the world before the killing game. plus by the end, the survivors "win" by rejecting both hope and despair, thus ending the cycle that keeps danganronpa going. kaito could've enabled this cycle and the killing game itself by practically forcing everyone to chase after hope despite the despair everyone felt after each trial. that could be an interesting angle a mastermind would take to cause as much despair as possible

My first thought to alternate mastermind is Miu, she could of built all of the technology in the dome including K1-B0, she could have easily tampered the cameras in the beginning to leave her out of shot, she gets bored by normal stuff easily, and her mood swings are almost as drastic as Junko’s

In my opinion, mastermind Hiyoko would have been great. Hiyoko would still die with an unknown murder weapon, but that's only because she didn't actually die. Mikan inflicted with the remembering disease could help Hiyoko fake her death, and while everyone thinks that she's dead, Hiyoko could resume being a mastermind from behind the curtains. Her death looking forced in would fit perfectly with her being the actual mastermind.
