Billy the Kid- Wortley Hotel, Lincoln, New Mexico. Billy the Kid

On April 28, 1881, Deputy Bob Olinger brought 5 prisoners over to the Wortley Hotel to eat dinner, when Billy the kid shot and killed Deputy Bell over at the Lincoln County Courthouse. Upon hearing the shot, Deputy Olinger ran across the street towards the courthouse where Billy the Kid was waiting for him in an upstairs window with Deputy Olinger’s own shotgun. Billy gave Olinger both barrels and shot him dead.

I stayed at the Wortley back in 2008. I stayed in room 4. I heard from a local there soon after I checked in , that room 3 was haunted. When I got back to the Wortley if I could move to room 3. They told me there was already someone in room 3 . Anyway. The next morning. The guy guy that stayed in room 3 was eating breakfast . He was from England . I told him the rumor of his room being haunted , and asked if he had heard anything. He laughed and said no. Anyway, very cool place, .Thanks for sharing.

The original hotel burned down in the early 1900's. This is a reconstruction on the original site.

Yes it did but they incorporated some of the ruins into the new construction.

I had met them whike I was there. Judge Herb Marsh's duaghter owned it.
