JUST CURIOUS: How are you filming yourself on your motorcycle…separated and from behind? I don’t see any extended rod or arm. Surely this is not a drone (what do I know?). Not important but I really enjoyed this journey (albeit vicarious). You are a splendid storyteller and videographer!
@@christopherp.hitchens3902 the first video I linked in this comment answers your question
@@christopherp.hitchens3902 you know your right 😊💖
@@Levi_Allen -- Pfft! Yeah...right! I'm going to watch a long video just to find out something that would take you 1 minute to explain. Sorry...I didn't know you were such a "star".
One of my close friends from high school died trying to solo summit a mountain (Mt. Baldy). He had just gotten accepted into MIT and had his whole life in front of him. So I've never had the guts to solo hike and summit a mountain myself. But thanks to people like you who film and share their amazing experiences doing it, I still get to see what it's like. What an unreal video.
Solo experiences in complex terrain have an incredibly high risk factor. Sorry for the loss of your friend! If you still want to give it a go I’d recommend finding a local area that you are familiar with, the terrain is what could be defined as “simple” and obviously taking a friend is always a good call too : )
How did he die ?
@@b.a8908 i’d imagine falling or the cold
and that's why no one will remember your name
Sorry for your loss...but your friend was really stupid. So much for that MIT opportunity...lol
Thanks for this. Mt Cheam was the one that got away. I lived in Chilliwack for two summers decades ago when I was your age. I hiked everywhere I could.... but Mt. Cheam never happened for all the reasons you mentioned. I am now a 50 year old disabled person who can only walk 10 minutes at a go . I am so grateful I got to the top of every mountain I could and hiked like crazy with my kids when they were young. Visibility at the top is nice - but not essential. My three best hikes with no view from the top were; The Twin Sister (Vancouver), Snowdon (Wales), Croagh Patrick (Ireland), and somehow they are even more special because they retain some mystery and kept some secrets from me :-). I actually started to cry when I saw this video because....you gave me a chance to get to the top. If only as a witness. Keep pushing yourself. My suggestions for a long cold night in a tent by yourself are knitting and tarot cards. Both are light and can be fast or take a long time. May you have many more peaks alone and even more with the best of those in your world.
Wonderful message. I'm so glad you have those. Some memories, such as those you've mentioned are vital and very heartwarming! Be safe.
I did two years in the infantry in Alaska, and something i always did (I was taught to do) was put your boots inside your sleeping bag, down by your feet. It's a little uncomfortable at first, but after your body heat warms them, it evaporates any moisture inside them, and they are warm and dry when you put them on in the morning. Then you can do the whole next day with dry comfortable boots. Also, if you have to work with numb hands or feet, I've found you will be paying the price as you age. Hands and feet will get cold (and numb) easier and you then have to compensate and get warm earlier than before, to be functional. I wouldn't change anything though. The inchworms in Alaska tundra make the evening interesting..the mosquitos, not a fun thing. The tundra makes excellent mattresses/pillows. Keep a buddy between you and the Brown bears.
Can we just appreciate how much time and effort must’ve gone into getting those mountain shots of you riding on the motorbike. Truly amazing shots
The fact that u stayed so positive even tho several things went poorly is awesome!! Such positivity man!!
The meaning of life
The respect I have for this, that every time he walks away in the video, he leaves the camera there, hikes, comes back, packs the camera and off he goes again. Phenomenal. Love the dedication Levi. P.s. also ordered a bloody container to store my crap in and use as a shed/workshop
survivorman the show
Outdoor Gear Review does a much better job. Check him out. Because of Luke, other creators learned how.
I was just thinking this, he's done twice the work in many ways!
He could have a drone. It’s what I would do.
All of them do that!
90% of people won't realise how much work is involved in this kind of videos....good job man
Especially setting up the camera, walking away from it for a cool shot and then going back and picking up the camera again.
yeah, i love winter camping but i couldnt be bothered to set up cameras, much less carry that extra weight, before everything i do to get shot, way too tedious with everything you do already.
self adulation is obvious. I don't encourage them, i mock them, they are youtube fakes.
@@aurigo_techidk Y “outdoor influences” just buy a drone that follows them.
I’m sure 90% know. That’s why they’re not doing it
You can do incredible things if you are motivated enough. I was 60 yrs of age when I trekked to over 5,000 meters to Everest base camp. I went back 3 more times to treck other parts of these spiritual mountains. Nepal is a fantastic country with wonderful people.
Man the way this is filmed and the shots you got are amazing!
Very impressive, right?
Good stuff, Challenge makes us grow. Side note: I’ve found boiling some water with the jet boil and filling a Nalgene bottle, then stuffing the Nalgene in the bottom of your sleeping bag, helps keep your feet warm and provides water to drink in the morning. When everything else is frozen :)
One of the reasons i love Nalgene bottles, handles the heat so well.
Also, putting a plastic bag over your feets before you head out, specially when it's colder outside. This is to hold in the moisture, so it doesn't freeze your toes before you get to camp
A "hot nugget!" That's what my family calls it.
A warm water bottle is such a gift at the end of a long cold day!
I've definitely burned myself doing this before 🤦♂🤦♂ Make sure to wait a little bit before putting it next to your skin haha
@@dtj41 you have to put the hot bottle in a thick whool sock , it will protect from burning yourself, and the bottle will stay warm longer
What a send man! Wind looked brutal haha.
Ah cheers homie. I was just recommended some of your vids a month or two ago. Good shit! keep it up.
I am terribly fond of drinking and eating in the forest, in the air, in the sun... You feel like a free tramp...
I remember hiking a 3400m tall summit with my high school friends. It was absolute misery with unforecasted storm rolling in. Freezing our balls from the cold and the wind. Numbing my whole left leg to the point touching it feels painful. It was worth the experience doing hike and pushing myself. But as i got older and finally not having enough time to hike again, watching your video tingled my memory. Great work man, you motivated me to at least make time to hike again, hopefully soon!
This is why I want to go. Experiences, memories, tough times and just the incredible places you’ll be able to go and the gorgeous sights to see. Even seeing that wind batter your tent, I found a strange calmness amongst the chaos. I live for these moments, I just crave to go see the world man, you’re inspiring me even more
Omgg when you showed how intense the wind was in the tent I was so scared for you! What a view to wake up to!
It just kept getting more intense haha
@@Levi_Allen Do I see correctly (in minute 23:00) that you used UberLite sleeping pad ONLY? That has been very hazardous for the snowy conditions as it provides very low R value (even for autumn season) and deflates in low temperatures. You should definitely upgrade for a proper winter sleeping pad or combined your UberLite with closed-cells foam pad.
I felt and thought exactly the same
@@jurajkotian1 what do you mean by very hazardous?
That didn't look like a winter tent.
The amount of effort it takes to hike this without recording footage is impressive, but to have to record this process under these weather conditions is remarkable. Hats off to content creators
Wow, Levi, I admire people who enjoy the outdoors no matter what. I must admit I am not comfortable with rain and snow, feeling cold and not great. Thanks to people like you I can actually enjoy this weather in the comfort of my home. Thank you ;)
Weak 👎
Your honesty was absolutely Brutal. Thank You, when I read your opening statement I said to myself " Damn, I am gonna watch this dude ". Your mind is a rare artifact of creation. You spoke what you felt in that moment in that time and did not care what anybody else thought about it. outside of them hoping that they felt the same way as you did and do. Get outside and take a risk but know the boundaries to such things and own ownership if it goes wrong. I mean come on, Hardly anybody anywhere does that anymore.
I have watched countless and I mean as in I got some of the best internet capabilities on the planet , I have watched , wow, a lot to the 10th power and probably even more than that videos on this kinda stuff. a longing to go back in time to my youth, where I belonged to the country and not cooped up in a town of 26,000 . I deeply truly hate this retched place. Every night when I lay down. I am under a tree or sitting on the back of my 4 wheeler looking up at the stars and moon, camping on a spur of notice on the river bottom. No rhyme or reason for it than I could and did. With every fiber of my being I hear that cry, Come back to me, The country, the outdoors. I miss it, I long for it.
Anyways, my point to this over drawn masterpiece is this. You reached me. Not Les Stroud, and that's tough to do. all these bush craft you tubers. Not Les, he owns his shit. like you do, like me, like I hope a lot of us do. So many of them say and bla bla bla, there is always a what if moment but they keep just a hint of a way out of wasn't me . Failing to admit a conscious made choice of action by themselves inevitably to do or not do.. Own What You Did Wrong !
And what I have done wrong is to allow myself to wake up go to work to come home to make excuses to myself why not to do something just cause I spent 8 hours doing something .To lay down and go to bed to wish for that moment , that second of time , even if for only that moment, say, I am back and I have missed you too. To only wake up, and repeat over and over. When all I have to do is stop making excuses for all the trivial reasons why not to. ( That is my Wrong and I Own it. )
Thank You for your truth spoken words in the manor and calmness to wish you expressed yourself . You got to your Mountain Top and I will get back to my country and have that moment for me, for myself, for my own self worth . And when I do Levi, I will sit there around that fire and with my can of Mnt Dew and toast you and Thank You for a Kick in my ASS.
Awesome vid brother! Back in the UK now, but spent a few years living in BC up until 2019 and watching with my cat (also an ex BC resident who came over with us, learnt to speak raccoon and then travelled back here) reminded me of how tough but rewarding real outdoors can be. The little bit of me that will always remain BC just got a treat from your vid. Thank you.
Now THIS is the stuff I’ve been wanting to see! Love your outdoors/van stuff, Levi!
I love how much love and dedication he gives to his videos. Wow I can’t stop watching this adventures. Great content, I can’t myself to keep coming back to this channel!!
the amount of work that most go into this, like getting all those different camera angles on the climb up is insane. Love the dedication and it makes the video that much better. Awesome work
Watching this so I don’t die when I attempt something similar this winter 😁😁
Your channel has been a big influence on the future direction of my own channel, so thanks!
Felt your pain with those damp boots, nothing makes me more miserable on a trip than cold wet feet. I once burned a hole in some boots because I tried to dry them on the fire in the evening.
Cool vid Levi! Enjoyed the "experience" with you. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers Timothy!

The view when you opened the tent the second morning, man, that’s the kind of stuff life is for. That’s why we live.
I’m glad that I have this nature side of me that’s always searching for videos like these. My uncle is a hiker/camper and so that’s probably why. I absolutely love these videos, especially the ones at night with rain or snow.
What an amazing little camp spot sheltered in a circle of rocks. And the relief of daylight!
Thank you for this! Stuck at home, this made me want to go snow camping this weekend. Put me in a good state of mind. Thank you
I smiled a few times while watching this. People need to try finding time just to enjoy the outdoors. I can see you really enjoy being there.
I am still stunned you camped in a tent so exposed with just a little brick enclosure to shelter on the summit of a mountain....in the dark.....without your electric blankie....just you and your Maunga(mountain). In our culture we believe that every person is born connected intricately to a mountain, a river, or ocean. It is our ancestry. You camping must make you feel so connected. I love and admire the respect you show our home, mother earth. Jah bless Levi !!!
I have Canada on my travel bucket list. It’s absolutely breathtaking! seriously has some of THE MOST beautiful scenery ever. beautiful lakes with gorgeous blue waters, just a gorgeous place to live.
I’d totally do this trip myself, but how you managed to organise and shoot what you were doing is amazing buddy 🙌🏻 Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to show us your home.
I love the pace of your videos. With everything so disposable, with people making content for NOW and hoping to keep people’s attention for 15 seconds, there will always be a place for nature, tranquility and sharing time with those who love the outdoors. I could watch your content for hours 👊🏻
Funny thing is even knowing the video had already been made and you obviously survived, I started praying for you when you opened your duffel and found everything soaked. Not good for camping in cold weather! Glad you survived and thank you for the adventure. I especially love these videos of quiet seclusion in the wintery trees and mountains.
Living in Oklahoma, it's never about cold or snow. It's all about the wind. I once did some summer camping out by Canton Lake. I stayed in a campsite behind the dam. The campsites were full of tall trees that stuck above the height of the dam and the rustling of the leaves would keep you awake all night long even though there was no wind at your level. I tried a little biking while I was there but it was hard as you had to lean at nearly a 45 in order not to fall over.
Epic adventure Levi! You showed good strength in some pretty severe conditions. Glad to see you had the SPOT. When I saw you heading off in the Moto boots I was thinking to myself "Oh no his feet are going to get torn to pieces". It was nice to see the Fraser Valley from that prospective and it looked like the valley is drying out after the big flood. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Yeah Moto boots are a tough go haha
Love watching these long form adventure videos! Gets me stoked to travel and camp with my son!
This makes me want to get into solo camping. Feels like a healthy form of escapism. Going through some rough stuff rn and something tells me that this is what i should be doing.
Go. Now
@Abd at-Tawwaab lol Go learn some history.
Just plan it out and tell someone where your going and stay safe. Good luck
I had to pause this in 1:40. I moved to BC from Ottawa about 5 years ago. At one point during my journey I stayed in aggasiz for quite some time. With this mountain in my plain view and a stones throw away almost. It became my favourite mountain during my 2 and some year stay and modern memory of my travels there after living there for a bit as a child. I can’t wait to watch the rest of this video.
This is a beautiful video, Levi! It's also really nice to see a CZcamsr promoting responsible adventure, and talking through your thought process when things stopped going according to plan.
What an adventure! Truly beautiful area. Thank you for outlining your safety precautions - the only thing better than getting out there in nature and enjoying it, is coming home safely. Great philosophy of living, too! Best wishes to you and yours. Looking forward to seeing your other vids. Subbed.
You're the people of another world simply who loves to live with endless spirits , cool with dangers smiles with hardships.... just people of another level 🤗
Levi! This was awesome man. Been following and learning from you for quite some time. Thanks for making a Friday even better!
I just found this video randomly and I am so glad I did! I really appreciate the effort that you put in your videos for your viewers! Even under the rain and snow you just keep on setting the camera to give us the best view, landscape and perfect shot! Thank you for this! Can I ask you what camera do you use? It looks amazing
Theres a feeling that acompanies the outdoors that makes you realize how great we have it to be living in the new world where technology is a given and tradiononality is rare. You said it exactly right when you laughed about outdoors making you more greateful in everyday life.
When camping isn't just abou making food... It's about exploring the surrounding... Loving this channel
I've always enjoyed you cinematic videos and your storytelling What you said up on the mountain about putting yourself in uncomfortable position is something that I've struggled with, you know the reward after being uncomfortable but fear can be crippling at times. I'm trying to make smaller goals. You have a wonderful perspective on life.
Thank you.
That opening scenery was stunning, you captured some beautiful scenes
@21:02 I'm glad you came out there too...It was fun to watch, and you are right about challenging yourself out of your comfort zone!
You just showed us "Life is beautiful"
Thankyou
Every new hiking cut on the way up, I kept thinking about all the retracing of steps to retrieve the camera. Kudos to making this video look so good!
Also I loved the honesty of all the mistakes along the way. I love to travel and I make a lot of mistakes along the way. Made me feel connected knowing I’m not alone in that.
I dream about visiting places like this. What an adventure. Also, I appreciate your dedication to creative and inconvenient camera placement.
I was young in the 80s I'd hope on my dirt bike and head off camping, Miles and Miles of logging roads ! Video brought back The Memories !!
The work you put into this was incredible. Great video!
Great video! It’s really inspiring to see your local adventures. I think everyone should get to know their own backyard better. Way more interesting to watch than “just another video from a travel hotspot”. Thank you!
This is just what i needed after a stressfull day
A few things went awry but you are definitely bull headed, a good thing, but ita all about having the proper kit, and practicing. Its all about trial and error. A dry bag with changeof socks, and a pair of down bottoms top and booties, is a life saver in those conditions.
this is on my bucket list for things to do in 2022 , you motivated me to go outside and really feel nature at its darkest moments
solo travles are the best! I love love love seeing your content Levi! Keep up the great work!
Great lessons learned. Never ever put liquids ( fuel or beverage) inside a backpack. Store on outside. Get a 4 season tent, the mesh on the top let’s heat out and snow in. Also gives the wind an opportunity to get in. Annnnnd. Don’t use that tent ever again in the warmer month’s until you get the bacon smell out. Bears will think you are a burrito.
Take it for what it’s worth, I just have lots of nights in tents on sides of mountains.
Also. Tent comes down, stay where ya are until daylight. Broken ankle in the dark is not cool.
Cheers mate
the moment where he zipped up the tent after the long windy night, just to be met with that view. Really impressed that he stayed pretty positive and cool headed (=
This is such a good video Levi. Thank you for not hiding your rougher times from us... having to go back to switch out your boots? Thank you for sharing that with us. These camera shots... my goodness.... all the great shots you got of yourself walking to and fro - I think folks can miss just how much of your precious daylight is spent setting up the shots and the doing the shot, and then retrieving the camera after the shot has been filmed. I mean, my goodness, the video is packed with this effort and it has not gone unnoticed. GREAT JOB! I look forward to more of your videos. Best wishes and stay safe.
Glad that you made it out safely 👏🏼 As a 57 year old military veteran, I really appreciate seeing younger guys getting out of their mother’s basements and challenging themselves. It truly does build character, and you sir have character. Great job 👏🏼
Wow what an adventure! Without those stone walls taking some of the brunt of the wind I think your tent would not have survived.
One of the best addition to my camping gear over the years has been dropping noise cancelling earbuds, a good quality media player loaded with music, ambiance and audio books and a power bank in my waterproof bag. When you just wanna sleep through a wind/rain storm it's perfect, great for other things too.
The quality of your videography just amazing, able to do that alone while hiking is snow. Wow. And the quality of the tent amazed me. Great video!
The color grading for your cinematic shots are great, especially with the fog and dense areas. Very cool video!
Thank you for this video man. Honestly, you are amazing.
Amazing fresh nature atmosphere, i can feel the fresh air of the forest from here.
Broooooo, holy shit man. This content is fucking 🔥. Not only is the editing and camera work SUPER slick and engaging, but I super appreciate your thoughtfulness and authenticity in sharing.
I think everyone (whether they know it or not) has a deep desire to learn about themselves and to continue to grow, and having someone who can openly express what’s going on internally in a way that’s not only very articulate and interesting, but also very non-judgement and in fact cheerful, is HUGE.
You said in in the video that one of your big goals in making videos is to get people to get outside more and I want you to know you are 100% accomplishing that. Before the video was over, I found myself starting to brainstorm and dream about the ways I’d like to be outside more and push the limits of my comfort zone more.
Super inspiring my dude, keep up the amazing work 🤙🏻
the amount of effort you put into your videos are insane, keep doing what you are doing.

Just brilliant thanks for sharing this journey. Lucky you had the bit of a walled in place for the tent.

Levi, these videos are beautifully crafted! It is truly a dream of mine to be able to snow camp one day, quite inspiring to watch you do it!
I admire your experience you keep your smile even when you are in serious uncomfortable troubles
Just found this channel and the quality is outstanding. You can tell he puts a lot of time and passion into his videos.
Just found your channel, as someone who deals with anxiety issues...OMG, my anxiety was triggered by that wind storm and your safety. I'm glad you made it off the mountain!
It was sort of satisfying for me. I like the sound of the gashin wind. I'd probably sleep better in that situation, but i would definitely be worried about the tent if i have doubt I believe that was his main concern. If i believe in my tent my strong foundation that I'd be a sweet night for me. Sometimes you gotta let nature take over and embrace it, concern isn't gonna do a thing but to burden your brain. Take a deep breath,
Very atmospheric video. Good shooting and video editing. Incredibly beautiful location. Good channel!
Look at the quality of that video. It’s insane. very entertaining
When you said you were hiking in your Moto boots I thought - Mistake!
Anyway you did the right thing and went back and changed them. The best cure for blisters I ever found is a product called Compeed. They are patches made of soft plastic stuff and if you apply them properly right over the blister it is like magic - the blister just stops hurting. I mean totally stops!
Dunno if you can get them worldwide since I think the manufacturer is Danish but if you can get 'em - get 'em!!
I'm not sure why but you seemed to have your walking pole straps outside your hands? Normally you would put your hand up through the loop and then bring your hand down to hold the handgrip and the strap. That way you can push against the strap and it gives your hand direct support so feels more natural...
Just an eye opener to take adventures way more serious. Thank you!
Awesome video!
One small suggestion, your satellite device hanging on the roof of your tent could be a bad idea. If the tent blew off the mountain you’d be stranded without it. More realistically the battery would probably be happier if you kept it in the sleeping bag with you! :-)
Awesome video Levi! Although that looked like a pretty rough night up on the summit, this gets me stoked to explore the alpine. This winter I want to learn downhill skiing and eventually do touring in the backcountry… gotta make it happen!
It must be relaxing when you finally get your tent up and can relax a bit
The cinematography is just amazing.
Really liking these adventures!! Getting back in shape so I can do trips like this
Tbh the cinematography is no less than a movie. Beautiful
Thanks for such suffer and capturing a memory !
I camped my way through western CO on my street bike. Nothing as rugged as this. Much respect
Walking off to get the shot & then walking back to get the camera in wet moto boots is why this has soo many views , mans put the work in to give us quality content

Great video! You have 100% reinforced my lack of trust in bladder-style water containers. I own several and use the regularly, but never when a leak would cause a real problem. Been bit, have learned my lesson. Nalgene is the way to go.
