To explain the Greinke ejection: he forgot the shift was on and didn't move to cover first right away and lost the foot race because of it, he wasn't mad at the umpire he was mad at himself. But when you throw the ball down the umpire assumes the world revolves around them and that you threw the ball down because the umpire did something wrong, and even when they get a call wrong, know they get the call wrong and know you have every right to be upset at his terrible call, they still eject you anyways....
Because anyone who took a swing at an ump would wind up banned from baseball, and with a civil lawsuit from the ump, and possibly with criminal charges as well. However terrible the umps are, and sometimes they really are, they are also holding most of the cards here.

When Ross got ejected after striking out, initially all I saw was him sliding the helmet towards the dugout in a kind of throw but when you look back he threw the bat really far. He did it so fast I never even saw it the first time.
