That and there had been previous bad blood between the teams, that puts extra weight on anything in the game. I don't think an umpire overreacts when tossing a pitcher who throws at a batter and misses, then throws at him again and connects. Ian Kinsler no less. One of the most docile players in MLB.
Yeah of all the calls on here that was the one I am ok with the ump tossing him. Clear as day that he meant to plunk him but missed the first go round.
And if it's not intentional, that's worse! If he is *accidentally* throwing BEHIND the batter and then hits him the next pitch, that's fucking dangerous to have him continue pitching. He simply doesn't have the control. He's going to fucking hurt someone.
Celtic Warrior you’re aware umpires rotate behind the place in each series right? That was a 90mph meatball that wasn’t towards the upper shoulders. Intentional or not, let them play, especially since no warnings were issued. 100% an overreaction.

I can understand tossing someone getting in your face, throwing equipment and disrupting the game. But those first two? Catcher wasn't doing anything, and the batter was walking back to the dugout. There was 0 reason to toss em out, and umps need to have a check in place for that kind of power.
you don't know what the catcher has been saying all game, even while looking away. there are plenty of players think they can MF the ump if its done discreetly. and they are wrong for thinking/trying that.

@@jsingh4272 joe mama
The fact that West has not been fired is why we need to get rid of the ump unions. Fire everyone and start all over. If they threaten to start a union again, fire them all. And institute a computerized strike zone. been advocating it for 30 years. Home plates should be actors.
Between MLB and NFL officiating it's getting tough to take professional sports seriously. Damn near unwatchable these days.

Ump: YOUR GONE!
i don’t think 2:15 was an over reaction. two back to back pitches you gotta give the ump something
Your right...maybe not a ejection on the 2nd pitch. But a warning has to be put out or something.
The Diamond Ninja I agree
That'sright!!!! I agree
The Diamond Ninja its umpires discretion at that point. If he feels safety is of the utmost concern and a warning isn’t going to get the point across, ejection without hesitation. Unfortunate, but how it is.
That and there had been previous bad blood between the teams, that puts extra weight on anything in the game. Usually it results in umpires being told before the game to be strict on anything that could spark any trouble, and coaches are given the heads up that any wrong action will not be led off with a warning, it’ll be automatic toss.
These umpires have far far far too much influence on the game.
ABSOLUTELY!!! WAY TOO MUCH...
Baseball can totally get rid of all the umps. They can review the calls and make the calls via video and screen reviews
They keep fights from happening like what woulda happened if that dude kept throwin dumbass pitches 2 pitches in. Other than that who gives a fuck about language
Isn’t that the point of umpires?
Carl Garner kinda the job of the umps
I didn’t care much for Jim Leyland when I was younger but the older I got, the more I realized he undoubtedly cared about HIS players regardless and would stand up for them. I see Buck Showalter in the same light, and Joe Girardi as well.
John Lackey deserved to be tossed against Kinsler. Clearly intentional.
Who cares about that.. umpires egos are bigger then the ballpark. I hate baseball now because of umpires especially the ones behind the plate.
And if it's not intentional, that's worse! If he is *accidentally* throwing BEHIND the batter and then hits him the next pitch, that's fucking dangerous to have him continue pitching. He simply doesn't have the control. He's going to fucking hurt someone.
@@celticwarrior5959 True. Even if it's intentional, it should be part of the rules of baseball as it makes the games fun.
Yup....no idea how that is an ump "overreacting"?
Celtic Warrior you’re aware umpires rotate behind the place in each series right? Example if joe west is behind the plate for the first game of a Red Sox Yankees series, the next game he will be at first then the next at second. No umpire calls balls and strikes for an entire series. Just so you know lol
Umpires blowing calls, then ejecting guys for having the audacity to complain. What a profession.
The majority of these weren’t blown calls lol.
Kori Jenkins - You are an idiot. "Blown" calls are a part of the game. Bad calls hurt and benefit every team and player. Players need to grow up and put their uncontrolled emotions in check.
K A - "job put into jeopardy"? What are you talking about? Ihyperbole at its finest. Blown calls are not only against the hitter. They are just as many blown calls against the pitcher. Hitters are the beneficiary as well as a victim pig bad calls. It all washes out in the end. Grow up dude.
lopezmt thank you! Someone who gets it!
Lots of these calls were the correct calls. Don’t know what some of these guys were arguing about.
Joe West is an poor excuse for an ump. I don’t see how he’s kept his job this long
Atleast joe better than Angel, now that's a guy that needs to be fired

Whether Lackey was trying to or not, he threw right behind his head, missing by 3 inches, and then hitting him the next pitch.
Yea that toss out was justified
Was thinking the same. And then the commentator pointed out bad blood from previous meetings. Seemed by far the most justified ejection in this vid

The umpire should’ve been ejected
That was a playoff game. I'm sure that scumbag ump was paid off to manipulate the game.
At 2:06 this isn’t an overreaction, I’m pretty sure if you have working eyes that are connected to your brain you can realize it
1st pitch: BEHIND batter
2nd Pitch: HITS batter
Nope, it's a warning, unless one was already implemented. That was the 1st inning, pitcher didn't get to warm up much, so you need to take that into account. Pretty sure Lackey just returned from the IL as well.
@@thecaynuck4694 pathetic explanation for deliberately throwing at someone twice
@@steelersrock4392 No, it's reasonable. Go get injured, and then try pitching when you get back after barely warming up. You have no proof this was deliberate, and the warning is the correct call. Bob Davidson the umpire is a known grouch and old racist man who loves to instigate drama.

Oh, the old 'turn it off and turn it back on again' trick. CTRL+ALT+DEL might also work.
This is what happens when you give a job that requires a keen eye and level-headedness to ornery old farts who've had cataracts for 30 years and need a damn walker to get onto the field. I don't understand why anyone above the age of 55 can even be an umpire.
Stop being rude to the elderly, umps actually get 99.5% of calls right and they're old enough to know the difference between right and wrong. The players are crybabies.
@JJD They do though. Search it up, they have a very high correct call rate. Meanwhile, players make errors more often.
The Caynuck I don’t know about the players part but elderly umps should be the more level headed people on the field. With that said any ump that does this should get disciplined by calling Marlins games because I swear that some do it for attention and nobody watches Marlins games, so there’s that. The other angry old farts should only ump every once in a while as they start getting grumpy with life...

That was a 90mph meatball that wasn’t towards the upper shoulders. Intentional or not, let them play, especially since no warnings were issued. 100% an overreaction.
Well it should've been a warning first
The pitch had just returned after a break of playing so could have been a bit rusty, plus that was the ump thinking about the overall bad blood between the teams not that game currently

Just cause the pitcher is a good actor and looks stunned means nothing. We judge by what was done not what was said.

1:54 John Lackey absolutely should have been tossed, Blue was 100% correct on that one. The others are pretty laughable though!
Well I guess you never have pitched. Try starting a game after coming off the DL, not warming up because of stadium ground rules and all that. Warning? Sure. Ejection? No. Also, ejection without warning is a judgment call, so it's not a forced ejection.

Some umpires need to be *"TOSSED"*
The only one I would 100% call an overreaction is Eric Cooper coming out from behind the plate to yell at AJ Burnett. Hallion/Lackey and the Kazmir clips are honorable mentions.
The rest are likely players saying the "magic words." Striking out looking and telling the umpire "you (fucking) suck" doesn't take very long and is an instant toss.
