@@ArbiterDan No it's not. The original was by The Stranglers from 1981. The Dave Brubeck video was a mock-up using footage of him playing 'Take Five' with Golden Brown on piano edited in. It's a fake video.
Wow, an amazing rendition. And what a woman. Some women are their most beautiful when they're in love, others when they're pregnant, this lady, she looks her most beautiful when she plays.
Something about musical intelligence is so hot. Really strong style and persona shows through on her playing and control . For me. too many 'blue' notes and passing tones ornamentation -that's what a passionate woman does best.
Wonderful analogy music and ice cream….. I love this, I have heard many renditions of the original golden brown…. But this is my favorite. Why? Because i can hear the wonderfull bass tones from the stand up bass, a clear guitar melody that does not skip a measure,, and of course the high tones of a superbly executed violin…..sometimes less is more…..Grazie Mille!
@@ajayhelliwell5817 No, not really. The original is by The Stranglers. There is a very nice mashup of Golden Brown with Take Five by Dave Brubeck. But Brubeck himself was never involved.
@@dalstein3708 There are sites that have missed out on some music history and claim the Stranglers composed the song, but as correctly stated here it's an original instrumental tune by American jazz piano legend Dave Brubeck, released some 18 years before the English new wavers had one of their greatest hits. But the Stranglers made the lyrics and turned it in to a unique pop song. It may remind of Brubeck's Take Five, but this is in 6/8, though the piano riff has much the same style.
@@Skammee Hmm. I just re-listened, and it is... very nice. Wot was i thinking? Don't know. Sorry re my harsh sounding first comment. I was prolly just in the mood for something else at the time, but yeah, it is indeed very nice.
I love the original, but this is splendid

Wow I usually don't like covers of this song but this instrumental is beautiful.
You may don't realize the original is fully instrumental. Search for David Brubeck.
@@ArbiterDan Also brilliant
@@ArbiterDan and mariachi and nouvelle vague and the jolly boys...all amazing...

@@lavalady5571 The video is a mock-up indeed. But the song isn't.
The quartet is so tiny it lost the fourth member. This is a beautiful arrangement.
The fourth is recording, obviously.
Amazing version!
Nice!!!

Every time just like the last
On her ship tied to the mast
To distant lands
Takes both my hands
Never a frown with Golden Brown

It's a David Brubeck composition!!
No it ain't!! Dave Greenfield of the Stranglers wrote it along with Hugh Cornwall who provided the lyrics
@@philipreed1847 Correct!
It's not, the Dave Brubeck video is an edit cover, but they don't make that clear enough
not a fan of the violin at all, guitar & bass were brilliant.
Miss Lynch is an excellent player and does her own interpretation rather than a note for note copy . I liked it
