How to clean an Idle Control Valve, Opel Corsa 1300
Sometimes your car just will not idle or idles too high or too low, it may just be a case of cleaning the idle control valve instead of the cost of replacing it with a new one.
I recommend you try cleaning the IACV(idle control valve) first,
This video will show how easy it is to remove, clean and re fit the Idle Control Valve,
Buy a new IACV if yours is faulty at Walmart bit.ly/2GVJCeb

Couldn't actually find any videos of that model for the belt replacement. You might be one of the few or the first then!

Hi, I'm currently having similar idle problems with my Opel Corsa lite 2007 model. It went away for a while when I replaced the plugs. When stop at a robot the idle needle goes up and down and then sometimes it cuts out. I must tell you though that the car has an older problem which is the water temperature sensor connector. It's faulty so I disconnected it as I'm trying to source a new one. The second stage of the radiator fan didn't kick in and so the car kept overheating. To stop that I disconnected the connector for the water temp sensor. It goes into default mode where the fan is constantly blowing hard. Back to the idling problem...I've literally replaced everything from the coil pack to the spark plugs and crank sensor. I cleaned the IAC valve a month back and it seemed to steady the idling problem for a while. It was very dirty when I pulled it out and cleaned it. The problem has come back. How strong is the possibility that I just need to replace the IAC valve with a new one? Otherwise if it's not that then I can only conclude that it's mechanical inside the engine and then I have to take it in. I'm hoping it's not. Please help

Thanks for this great video. I battle with my NP200 16V. Revs go up and down. When car is hot after 40km the idle is too low +-400 - 500rpm. I've cleaned the Idle Control Valve as you've shown. The idling gets better, no more up and down idling, but it still starts cold at about 1500rpm and as it gets warmer it idles okay, but after driving +40km the idling is too low again. I was wondering if I should replace it? I find it hard to clean the throttle body, since it is not accessible without removing the filter housing, which is covering the throttle body.
Anyway, thanks for your great videos. Love the step-by-step way of showing your work.

My 1400 Corsa lite needed a new crank sensor. We replaced that as the car just kept on dying on its own for no reason. After the replacement was put in. The car would drive but as i got to a Red traffic light, breack and place it in neutrel. the car would die on me. Then here and there it would feel like it is about to die as i press the petrol pedal. It would smother while pressing the petrol. We started the car and waited for the sensor to put it on 1000 RPM. then we disconnected the valve. and now it is running without a problem. Will the cleaning also help with my problem Or do i need a replacement ?

Hi there... I did clean the idle Control valve... Put it back... It is still revving 3 500 - 4 500...do I need to get another switch instead, what do you suggest??? Also I need to replace bougie cords from engine to distributor, is this how it goes, please suggest 1-4, 2-3, 3-4, 4-2??? Corsa gsi 1.6 '99

The firing order is 1342 Shakera, when buying a new valve get a good quality one as there are a few cheap units that do not last or even work out of the box.

@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 hwzt Gary... Thank youu sow much for your reply... Battery & bougie cords connected... I started her up, it's still idling on 3 000... Remember I had cleaned idle valve & throttle.
This time while idling I unplugged the idle Control plug, no change.
I then removed the plug neXt to water bottle, car switched off...
Now I'm guessing I need to either change idle valve or throttle sensor🤔

    Hi
Good video. You don't come across many corsa lite mechanic videos. I have a Corsa Lite Sport 2007 which I have had a constant issue with since I've owned it. I have replaced:
    1. IDLE VALVE
    2. TPS SENSOR
    3. CLEANED THROTTLE BODY
    4. NEW RADIATOR
    5. GASKET COVER
    6. TAPPET COVER
    7. ALL 4 FUEL INJECTORS.
Miss fire and high idle was temporarily fixed after maintainence, but issue has now come back and still persists. The interesting thing about my corsa is that the idle fixes itself temporarily if l have driven a bit and let the engine warm up and then turn off the motor and back on again. After the car restarts the idle generally is fixed. However if I let the car stand over night and cool down, the issue comes back until l hqbe repeated the temporary fix.
Any ideas? I'm at a loss as what to do. I am situated in Cape Town.

I have been having an idling issue with my 1.4 Corsa lite for a few months now. It revs high when I stop and sometimes when the idle drops to what it's supposed to be the car will lose power and cut out when I step on the accelerator. I have changed the idle valve many times, with a generic/pirate. I have recently installed an original but second hand part. The car was running smoothly for a few weeks until it acted up again. I'm hoping your solution will work. If it does not, do you think I should purchase an original from GM?

Mine was lightly revving on idle and struggling and cutting out when driving, mechanic sorted it by replacing crankshaft angle sensor, the part in the UK is £30 for the most recommended brand, a bit awkward to reach but completely fixed the problem. Satisfaction 😁

Hi Moses, sorry to hear of your troubles, it may be that you have air being sucked in due to a loose pipe or worn intake gasket, there are so many possibilities, maybe it will be good to let an experienced mechanic take a look, cleaning the valve is normally the easiest and cheapest way to start eliminating the problem, but sometimes it could be something more serious.

  • @letsrockza
    @letsrockza Před 2 lety

NEVER attempt to clean them! they will cease up, re-calibration is simply by pushing the pintle back few mm , fit, allow ecu to calibrate, wait till idle speed is reached (under load) - may take a minute or two - NO NEED TO REV THE ENGINE!!! remember; the ecu calibatres according to the icv reference point - not the other way around!!
