Bought the same guitar a few years back. Upgraded the nut, saddle and put in bone bridge pins. Also changed the ugly pick guard for a normal shaped one. Sounds even better now!
Oh snap. Wasted upgrade since it already comes with bone nut/saddle. As for bone pins, ebony is already super bright so any difference to bone pins would be negligible
Amazing guitar. I bought an epi instead of this, and I am kicking myself. Pretty sure I am going to sell it and go get the MD60BG like I had originally planned. I would love to hear another video of it as it ages for you.
I've got the same guitar except mine did not come with a pickup ( mine is the MD60BG). I don't care for pickups in an acoustic guitar anyways. I like using a mic and not plug the guitar into an amp. I love the sound of mine and I too reviewed it. I love the way they designed the bridge. It really drives the strings down into the saddle for a better tone, in my opinion.
I've tried a Martin D-28 at my music store priced at 4,600 $ cad, and i swear to god that it didn't sound better than the Alvarez md60ebg that i've tried right after! I paid 1000$ cad tax in for the Alvarez! Saved 3600$! Ps: i ask the salesman on the floor with me to close his eyes, and tried to tell wich one i was playing..Alavarez..or Martin? 5 out 5 he couldn't tell wich one i was playing!
To be fair you were comparing mahogany to rosewood so hearing the difference to a trained ear "should" have been easy (most salesman don't know much from personal experience, I worked Guitar Center in a previous life). You should have compared the MD60 to the D18 and made it apples to apples
Really falling in love with these models... and at the price..you can own both the 60 and the 70 models..actually crushing hard on MDR70ESB..the 12 fret sunburst Rosewood model.
Thank you for making this video! Which of the two guitars have more projection back/front (vibration). I played my b-in-law’s Taylor 524 , it haunts me to this day the deep bass and the back vibrates like crazy.
The Alvarez “feels” louder but that might just be my ears as the Taylor has really mellowed over the years and doesn’t have the same top end, but is a little richer in the room.
Hi - great vid and the guitar sounds good. I'm thinking of getting one as a second gigging guitar and just wondering if, after a year, you've had any problems with the bridge lifting as this seems to be a problem with this model although I've had others where it has not happened. Thanks.
Just picked up a md60 ebg today 2nd hand 2020 model in mint condition for under£400 sounds amazing😊 feel like i should have been wearing a stripey jumper and mask given how much guitar im getting for that price!
That's a heck of a guitar for such a small price. Congrats!
I like the Alveraz just for the simple clarity of sound
I just bought one hasn't arrived yet. Saw your video very informative seem like a cool guy too. I do like both great old Taylor.
Just got the Alvarez little jumbo beautiful guitar. 💓🎸.
Awesome Alvarez 👌 Great video thumbs up subbed

What'd you upgrade the nut/saddle to? They already came with real bone from the factory.

so underneath the pickguard was finished with lacquer as well?

Thank you for this! It's helped me make my decision on the md60bg

I bought one two months ago. Plays great. Not as good as my DY40, but still a very nice guitar.
I've always dreamed of like buying a Martin D45 and bringing it to an Open mic lol
That’s crazy how good that Alvarez sounds, even against a 300 series Taylor
It's steadily improved after lots of gigging too.
How do you think the MD60 would stack up against the Martin D-18?
@@jayman1338 Very well. It's most compared to the D-28 or HD-28
Thanks for the review sir
The Alvarez!
Thats a cannon mate. A steal at that price

@@GraemeCampbellMusic sounds like what I heard as well

No, my bridge has been fine, I even had 13s on it for a while before switching back.
Many thanks. And thanks again for a very good straightforward explanatory video with no effects and in standard tuning!@@GraemeCampbellMusic
Bel Video interessante, grazie.
I am torn between this guitar and a blueridge br-140 so any suggestions?
Do you know what strings on the alvarez and what gauge?
I've got 12-53 on there, Daddarrio XS (the white packet). I've since gone back to Elixirs, with the same gauge.
