    Hi Don , Grill support bar looks much better now . You get out of what you put into it . It's very rewarding to see spots that were empty , get filled with the parts that go there . Great to see the progress .

    • @donshotrodgarage1717
      @donshotrodgarage1717  Před 2 lety

      Thanks man! Your exactly right about that, you get out what you put in! Sure is nice to see it come together. I was glad to get that part bolted up it really made to front end stronger and help the fenders clear the hood when its shut! Have a good one Buddy 👍

      Thanks Kevin! Old grill support bar cleaned up good as new! Its was tricky to get the bolt holes lined up by we got it. A friend told me along time ago try to paint as much as possible gloss black under the hood so you can wipe off oil spills and stuff. That always stuck with me. Lol Have a good one man ✌

      Thanks Jim! That bar went from rags to riches! Lol it was really nice with no rust. Sure helps out the front end. Now I can close the hood and it don't hit the fenders. Have a good one Buddy 👍

    The gold grill in my 57 Nomad had seen much better days , so I pulled the bar out and painted the grill semi gloss black and replaced the bar , made it look like the bar was floating in the surround . Did you know that if you pull the front bumper and lower pan off of a 55 , you can break the grill by closing the hood too hard ? This happened to a friend of mine .

    • @donshotrodgarage1717
      @donshotrodgarage1717  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Bob! Thats a wild trick to paint the grill black! I bet that does like look rhe grill bar is floating, thats pretty sweet!. And I did not know you could break the grill on a 55 like that. It makes sense because the grill is basically just hanging there by the sides of the fenders. Learn something everyday man. Have a good one I'll talk to you later buddy!✌

    Looking good Don. I usually get my tri-5 parts from ecklers . Danchucks good to but expensive. Cool deal man 😅.

    • @donshotrodgarage1717
      @donshotrodgarage1717  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Bullet! Yeah Ecklers has good stuff and prices are pretty fare! Danchuk is some very nice stuff but shipping is exspensive and there parts are normally 15 percent more. I have a place called Restoration World about a hour away from my house. So I just make a order ans drive down there when I get a chance to grab the parts. Have a good one Buddy 👍

      @donshotrodgarage1717  Před 2 lety

      @@armondoborjas4362 Yeah man I did hear that about Danchuk. To be honest man anything I buy new I just buy it off eBay. Normally its a little cheaper and still is a Danchuk part. I do believe it will hurt them more then they think it the long run! Talk to you later buddy!✌️

    @Chevyv8man1 Před 2 lety +1

    Hey Don, That's one more piece of the puzzle in place. Just think only 205 more and she'll be done. lol Sometimes that's how it feels but it goes together fast, once you have them. Got to love it. I'm in the process of cleaning the motor for my Harley, I got the frame painted, I'll tell you what, cleaning the aluminum motor cases and the head/jug finns sucks. Trying to get 45 years of dirt and grime off a complete motor can be a pain in the ass. I'm using wire wheels to clean it and when I'm done for the day I must have 30 little pieces of wire sticking thru my pants, shirt and everywhere else you don't want them. lol Well keep on putting parts on the ole 57 and it won''t be long (I mean not including winter shutdown). Have a good one buddy. Later

    • @donshotrodgarage1717
      @donshotrodgarage1717  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Marvin! It might even be 210 parts I still need! Lol I know what you mean about cleaning that old aluminum stuff, its a freaking nightmare! I've cleaned up old muncie 4 speeds and use steel wire wheels brass soft wire wheels to get into the little spots and brake clean. It takes time to get it looking good, but when you do man was it all worth it👍 The little pieces of the wire wheel absolutely suck man! Have a good one Buddy you'll get it! Talk to you later ✌
