Oh hell yes! Bad Boys 2 is one of the rare occasions were the sequel is just as good as, if not better than, the original. Y'all better watch it!

This was the start of Will Smith's box office dominance in the latter half of the 90s. After this, he made: Independence Day (1996), Men in Black (1997), & Enemy of the State (1998). Then Wild Wild West (1999) ended that streak.
He dominated the 90's, him and Jim Carrey.

Originally they had Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey in mind to play Mike and Marcus. They pitched the movie to Disney and it was shot down.. They spiced up the script a little and pitched it to Columbia, but this time with Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes. Columbia loved the idea, but Eddie and Wesley wasn't available. Eddie suggested Martin Lawrence and Martin brought in Will and the rest is history. While doing promos for Bad Boys 4 Life Will and Martin brought this up and that it's often brought up when they're all together.

Both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence starred in equally successful TV shows before this movie. Director Michael Bay followed this up with the action thriller The Rock. Smith wasn't really known that well at the time except for Fresh Prince, and even then, he was only really famous in America.
People always remember this as a Will Smith movie... but it was made as a vehicle for Martin Lawrence.
It basically made Smith's career because he outshone Lawrence whenever they were on screen together.

Bad Boys 2 is even better. I once lived in a share house that only had two movies, in VHS, Bad Boys 2 being one of them. It never got old.

I love the Bad Boys franchise every single movie was really well done and all really funny. Especially the last one because they're getting so old I can relate LOL! But the first movie I have to say is my favorite.

The reason Marcus talked Mike down, is that if he'd shot him at the end while he was seemingly unarmed, he would have been in the wrong. So once dude pulled his piece it was self defense so Mike took advantage and lit his ass up. 😂
nah, it's a programming thing - we get always the same script, they show us you can fight, hurt and more all the goons, lowlifes, petty criminals and sometime even innocent security guards/bodyguards...
..but when you get to the final boss/the most evil of them all - stop! he is important, "it's not worth it", double check if you follow every procedure, don't hurt, tame your anger - because in other words he is better than you, me, anybody

If he'd shot to kill after yelling "Freeze" while dude was fleeing he'd have lost his badge. If he'd shot him close range through the eye, he'd have lost his badge and been charged with 1st degree.

Another more modern (less action, more comedy) "buddy cop" (even though they aren't cops, instead PIs) movie I think you would enjoy is The Nice Guys - its on Netflix currently. Its directed by the same guy who wrote the lethal weapon movie.

Ahhh the first bad boys film where Martin was the bigger talent and Will was just getting his feet off the ground. This is '95 so Will would have 1 more season of fresh prince before they wrap it up in '96 if im not mistaken.
