- Boasting one of the nicest alloy frames we’ve ever seen, 170mm of travel up front and 160mm rear, a mullet wheel set-up and a spicy custom ‘A La Carte’ build spec, our Meta SX test bike certainly looked and sounded the goods… but how does it ride? Let’s find out.

I have had this bike for about 4 months I do a mix of riding including recently doing a bunch of long days on rail trails and XC with my wife as well as downhill and more mellow flow trails. I love the mullet set up and really notice the more dynamic handling compared to my 29er. It’s a beast on chunky fast trails and as noted above actually quite versatile. I run the bike in the high setting as I like the slightly better clearance, pedalling efficiency and handling for my style of riding.
Hey, thanks for your comment! Do you generally think it's a good all-around bike? I only have the budget for one bike but still hesitant between the premium version of the meta HT (hardtail), and the meta TR versus SX. Pretty large choice but I'm afraid that I'll be limited with an hardtail when going hard, and at the same time I want to do some bikepacking trips.. so, hard choice there. If you have any feedback, I'll be happy! Thanks for your time.

We (my partner and I share bikes because we're about the same size) are about to pull the trigger on an SX, because we already have an XC bike and a 120mm trail bike. The SX will be for enduro and downhill racing, and bike park.
But if I was looking for an all-rounder, I would definitely go for the TR. It is a beast of a trail bike. As capable as many enduro bikes in the steeps and chunk. But more pedal-friendly than either the AM/SX.
Hey @@Pogo69 thanks for you comment. I went for the Meta TR and it's the perfect bike for my usage, indeed! I definitely feel confident in downhill or jumps with it, but still efficient when pedaling. So yeah, pretty happy with my new bike! Enjoy the SX, lucky you to be able to share your bikes haha !
i can definitely confirm the guys at Commencal Sydney are top notch and offer great service
Thanks for the review mates! Which size did you go for?
Such a nice looking bike but can you comment on the bottom bracket height being so much higher than pretty much any other similar bike? (Like 20 to 30mm)
Also what size are you riding and reviewer height?
Im in Canberra where the trails are bit more gravity oriented. I've been considering a longer travel bike that is more nimble with that mullet set up and I'm really warming to the Meta SX.
Did you test two postion high and low position? ( flip chip) Wchich postion do you prefer and what is diffrence? :)
As a fast growing rider who likes to go fast and have fun. I like big jumps but also some rough trails, is this a bike for me? I also want to race one or two times a year but i also like to go for a fast ride at me local trails. So i want to have fun. Would you recommend this bike?
I've had the
2018 Meta AM (full 27.5)
2021 Meta AM (full 29er)
2022 Meta SX (my current bike)
I think the Meta SX would be perfectr for you. Pedals/climbs really well, smashes the downhills and is very stable in the air and at speed. You would love it.
Do you think it will be a good all-around bike, just ride some rolling trails at the end of the day? I still smash downhills in the weekend or during holidays?
At 4:56, the lower shock eyelet bolt isn't stock. Why did you guys use that setup?
Looks like they might have snapped it and had to bodge something together. The same thing happened on my Norco Sight and I was running a Bunnings special shock bolt for a good six months before I could get my hands on an OG replacement.
Nice review of the SX but I favor Meta am ht
How does it compare to the Meta AM 29?
If am 1.67 meters, what size is for me in this Bike?
Why has Commencal spec’d a 2.4 on the rear, but a larger 2.5 front wheel? Seems counterintuitive.
This is pretty standard. You want a faster rolling wheel on the rear, but a more grippy wheel on the front.
How tall is the rider? Im 6 foot 4 and wondering if a size large will be too small for me
Get a XL look into the Rocky Mountain Altitude definitely an all around bike
Yes it will be too small for you. I'm 6'2 and find the L a tad small already
Get the XL and probably you have to change the stem for a longer one… Im 6’2” and I feel the bike lil short pedaling … but everybody is different… the bikes comes with 40mm stem
@@jafet81 thank you bro, I'm also 186cm and definitely going for XL now.
@@Coerced going for XL then, thanks.
