EVAN IS A CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!!!
Noooooo! 😭😩😭😭😩😭😩
No he not. He’s smarter than you
@@1975normal haha Heath I asked for this comment based on what I did at the end of the video
@@1975normal bruh did you watch the video?
Evan is a 🐔
The Commencal looks fantastic with the new shock on dude, a piggyback shock just looks proper on an enduro bike. Don't know about the red levers, not my bag but if you like 'em, keep 'em! Great to see your progression. At 41 years young I started a fitness program a few months back and I'm smashing PRs and even taking the odd KOM off the local kids 😆🤘
Way to go for hitting that step-up Evan! Great video 🤠 I vote:
- Keep the red accents
- Yes to the suspension do-dad
I've been waiting to see your commencal again
And for another vid great job Evan!!
That's MTB is all about, progression, and seeing u clearing all these lines since the day i subscribed to ur channel, its inspiring bro 🔥
Thanks Hafiz! That's what I've been excited about with these videos. I hope you get out there and can achieve some cool things on your bike too!
Sick video Evan! Its very cool seeing you not only upgrade bikes but also progress your skills. Also all the chrome parts look soo sick. Keep the great work up!
Thanks ZKX! That's been a blast tying everything together
@@EvansMTBSaga awesome! I can't wait til I can afford a trail bike or Enduro bike.... So many bills and stuff now, but I will get back into this sport . I feel like bikes have saved my life more than once
Stoked for you evan!!! I havnt been able to ride my bike in months due to some parts i cant afford right now. Ill get out soon i hope, watching your vids help me come out of my comfort zone a little😂🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼😎🙌🏼
good stuff evan love the vids
Nice build, and you made that step up look easy! Awesome!
I have been on the hunt for a comfortable saddle. So I'm looking forward to trying whatever you find works well
I was pleasantly surprised by the Fabric Scoop saddle. It’s the best one I’ve ridden over the course of five years.
Love the retrowave&synthwave music in backround.
love the video. I would recomend the ergon seats. they are the most comfortable and come in many sizes.
Man i love your kickstand, has a real "natural" feel to it
Id say dump the red and go full bore on the chrome stealth bomber look
Great stuff man! I knew you could make that. I'm 42 and just had my first season at the bike park last year. Started MTB in 2020 at 39. I'm finishing building up my 2nd Trek Slash this week and i'm more excited than ever to get riding after a winter full of season ending injuries. Looking forward to your review on those handlebars as well. Went with the OneUp myself so i'm hoping to kill my bike park hand pain this summer.
Sorry to hear about your injuries, but glad you're back and fired up more than ever. I just like the spring feeling of the bars, Ive never had hand pain or arm pump, but I don't hold onto my bars very tightly. I'm not sure if that'd help your situation, but I hope you can figure it out
@@EvansMTBSaga You know, that could be an issue for sure. Usually at the top where I start the bike park, there is lots of washboard action from the ‘kids’ that slam their brakes coming into the corners so I’m hoping the handlebars, grips and 38’s I’m installing today will help. Great channel you have man. I’ve been enjoying your content. You have a good personality that will get you lots more viewers in the future for sure. It would be cool to see you and Seth do a couple vids together eventually too. Happy riding man!
Loved the video. Copilot looks pretty cool honestly too
Awesome job!!
Good job on the step-up gap! I know this was a sponsored video from a fitness company, but it is 100% spot on. If you are riding and not lifting weights/focusing on fitness off the bike, you are giving up performance on the bike. Far too many people spend money on bikes/parts/gear in the hopes of getting faster. They should be focusing on strength, losing body fat, and improving skills. Keep putting out these great videos!
My PNW Loam dropper I have used continuously for over a year is still working flawlessly (even though I should probably service it) love it! Definitely Recommend!
It's amazing how much working out translates to riding a bike, even just doing downhill and bike parks. Older I get the more important flexibility is too. I was never flexible, but started daily stretching about a year ago. Only takes 5-10 minutes, and its really improved my overall health. I feel better just getting out of bed, and it puts me in a better mental state to start my day. Daily stretching, 20 minutes of weights and 20 of cardio 3-4 days a week, plus a healthier diet is not only manageable, but its made mean happier person and better rider.
That second step up looked almost as big at the end haha! Nice work Evan!
the best part of this channel is how much you nerd out on the geometry minutia
The shim is actually not a problem, I have been running one on my meta for 3 years and a lot of professional ews racers all run them
I would love to see a backyard build series :)
My backyard is flat haha
@@EvansMTBSaga pumptrack?
Love to see progress at 30+ years. Keep going!!
BANGER video as always!!!
Once again Evan, spectacular video, you're getting really good with the production and style. I gotta ask, can you do some episodes of flip bike? I would love to see one of those
Do you have any ideas on how I could spin that idea? As of right now, the used market is so bad and it's really hard to sell bikes. It seems no one is buying
i think he said he quit that series or something
1:55 Evan bringing out his true character
🤙🤙 send it brother. I'm a huge fan. Thank you for all that you do
Would love to see the suspension telemetry data, over the whole price range from budget to where does it stop to matter for your riding syle
Bike's looking SWEEEEEET....! Ha!..Wonder what my Ragley would look like all Polished up...hmmm !
I just love how those Commencal bike look.
Thank you! I totally forgot my PNW dropper could be adjusted like that. Finally have the extended height dialed in!
Hey, i love that raw aluminum frame. It makes for such s simple bit beautiful look. The fox factory suspension would look amazing on that bike. Keep up the good work!
hi that shock is a good looking upgrade.
one note to consider is that the shock might not have an optimal tune in it for you meta;s kinamatics and leverage curve.
I know on fox stuff thre is a code on suspension to check set up on valving and suck thats in parts.
Not sure on rockshox but im sure there is one as well.
Yes. We want to see suspension tests!!!
Little tip for cutting carbon bars or seat posts. Put some superglue on the cut edge to seal and stop fraying. (apologies if you already did that).
I had problems with seats too because of my wide hips.
I ended up buying an adjustable BiSaddle and tried a bunch of different setting to find what worked for me. Then it's just a case of going out to find a saddle that matches my BiSaddle settings. Would strongly recommend!
that looks goated
Got rid on my commencal Meta for the yeti SB165. The yeti enduro is insane. So glad I made the move. Just my opinion 🤷
Good ride, and a nice bike!
Man, i got the same bike and would suggest you change the Maxxis Exo tires for a double down ones (could be schwalbe or even Maxxis), it will allow to reduce the rebound produce by the tires while allowing to put lower pressure on those. it will absorb all those nasty vibrations coming from rough terrain. If you decide to reduce the pressure on those Maxxis Exo you will end up with a broken rim or with a flat tire certainly. Good pick for a bike though!
That's a great recommendation and I've been meaning to pull the trigger on some thick casing tires
I love the look of this bike
That jump is a fun one!
Lets ride it this week! I need to do the drop
Im the same age as you and did a bunch of bmx when younger and on my 2nd year of mtb now. There os 1 drop in my local trail that im looking at but cant build the guts the hit it. So i feel you when hitting those new features
Try the Giant Romero seat, they are fairly cheap and super comfortable!
With all those pads you’re ready for a Windrock bike park trip!!!
Heck yeah I wanna make it out there
i would defiantly want to see a suspension telemetry test
I know right! I'm thinking about the BYB Telemetry, but I couldn't find a decent clip to add to this video to show what I was talking about.
Hey Evan, just subscribed and loving the vids. I've been looking into the Meta Sx for my next bike too. How tall are you for the medium. I'm 173cm tall with a 177cm arm span and looking at the medium? 76kg or 168pounds geard up.
Evan, let’s cook the chicken adobo😂 but man, this build looking really sick! Im sure you’ll ace that jump in no time!✌️✌️🤙
You should definitely try onyx vesper hubs sometime
Haha I have them on my Berd wheels! Check out that video of me building up some Onyx Vespers with hook flanges for the Berd spokes.
Best bike honestly you need to ride it more🙏🙏
Hello, Evan i noticed that you were running a sram gx type 3 just like me.
i was wondering if you are having any chain retention issues and or lots of chain slap.
my derrailluere was set up at shop with all the adjustments made properly and also the chain lenght and it just slaps everywhere adn i was wondering if thats normal or its jst my problem
I love your vid been watching you when you were riding the swinn❤
Yeah man I remember you've been supporting me this whole time!
Quarq (SRAM) have a suspension reader thing for about $400. I think it is called a ShockWiz
I 100% agree pnw so awesome yes lil play but cant feel it or hear it on bike ergon saddles measure ur sit bone so comfortable
what was that chest protector? I want to buy one too!
“Do I look sick or what?” As I’m watching this on the toilet like everyone else.
Evan can you do a head to head of a specialized status 140 with the alchemy 140? It will be cool to see the difference between kashima shocks with more settings than cheaper ones, and you can ride another mullet (Im incentivising you to make this happen) Also nice video!
Yo, Title cockpit is the only way for me to go. I had tried other premium bars with premium stems and ended up making a order for all my bikes and the dirt jumper I am building on my bike rack as well as the new slope bike i am building immediately after the snow starts to fly to keep my mind off the trail or big air in the park. You can ditch the red highlights all you want, I am straight up adding red here and there on my 2023 meta sx V4 commencial champagne paint with equal pops of black and browns with Red Stem ,Red handlebar, and red pedals switching out the silver Zeb stickers for Red and the rear air is coming of and coil is going on
Singletrack Sampler uses the rule of three himself. After watching one of his past videos about that, I myself implemented the same rule. If I can't make a feature or obstacle after three tries, I save it for another day. No sense in becoming fatigued or so frustrated that you make a major mistake and get injured.
hey acctulay magura makes some of those metallic Calipier ring cover things in silver. they came stock on my magurra mt sport trails, I broke them sadly. they actually matched my nuke proof horizon rear wheel perfectly.
Let’s go best bike you neeeeed to ride it more🙏🦅
Veey awesome achievement 🤘
I swear the Charge Spoon Saddle is the best out there for price, comfort n looks...Around £25...Bargain, and they come in a whole range of colours..!
Oh yeah you're the second one today thats mentioned that one. I'm gonna google it right now, thanks!
Regarding saddle fitment... Specialized have done loads with ergonomics. I've never been a Spesh fan boy, but I do like their saddle fitment. I use the wide Phenom saddle. Worth a try. Also got an Ergon on my ebike. Both great.
Thanks for the reminder! They just opened a specialized shop here so I need to go get fitted for a saddle. I have some big plans for videos where I'll be riding for 8+ hours so I need to figure out the seat situation 😭
Evan! What tool did tou use to take out te bushing/spacer in the rear shock?? It wasn't on the list and I need it!
I'm away from my computer right now, but it's a Du Bushing removal tool. It's a cheap Chinese one
@@EvansMTBSaga Thanks Evan! I ended up using a craftsman plastic clamp and some sockets to push it out a few minutes ago. I'll probably buy the tool so I don't have to Jerry rig it in the future 😁
Congratulations, although like you say it’s not that big it’s barely longer than a bike length. Maybe 8 feet lip to landing?
I think that the red acents are really cool
Sweet upgrades.
Nothing wrong with not doing that drop. Its better to actually stop only do features that you are comfortable with. Rather than just send it and hurting yourself and not being able to ride.
I dislocated my finger doing a drop that I wasn't expecting...my bike season was cut short 2 month. And took 6months to heal up.
So yeah better to be a smart biker than a wreckless one.
Working on get my Fuji up to speed fixed sticky forks a crack in the rear swing arm and soon rear shock rebuild plus 100hr service monarch RL 216 and new cable for the cane creak dropper
If you are going to do something with telemetry you should try get a set of custom tuned (to you and your bike) suspension in the mix.
Evan might be a chicken but if he is the chicken then i am the god damn egg
You should come out to whistler this summer
I might be stupid here but how’re you running Shimano deore levers with Magura callipers? And as it clearly works, why?
I just bought the deity copperhead stem and i love it and it comes in polished aluminum
Oh yeah that stem is one of my favorites!
I am very happy with the Nukeproof Horizon Enduro Saddle. I find it very comfy, it has a short nose so gets out of the way a bit more and as a bonus it has a very low stack height so I could run a slightly longer dropper post. Also it is quite reasonably priced.
Ahh I didn't even know they made saddles. I love the Nukeproof Horizon wheels
@@EvansMTBSaga Since you have wide hips, try the SQ Lab Ergowave saddles (read the descriptions to get the correct one, possibly a 60x or 611 active). Get it in the wider measurement and you will be so much more comfortable.
Have you thought about trying the M/L size Ergon saddle? They have like 3 options that work so you might fine one that works for you.
My 2 cents on the saddle, the Ergon Enduro is the one I’ve finally settled on as a keeper. I’m pretty picky about seats being too narrow/firm/uncomfortable when peddling climbs, the Enduro is just right and super comfy for an enduro specific saddle.
Yeah I had that one on originally but it was way too firm. Maybe I'll try it again and give it like 6 months to break in haha
have you tried specialized seats they're really comfy for me
Awesome job! Hey can you confirm that you are running a SRAM Eagle GX RD and shifter with a Shimano SLX cassette? If yes, what chain are you using and how do you like the shifting performance? Any weird rasps or other annoyances?
It's a Garbaruk cassette
@@EvansMTBSaga Ah, that's right. The black 1st gear threw me as my Garbaruk is all silver.... Thanks for the reply!
10:05 i dint know shocks could do that!!
This bikes perfect..... Ugh I need one
The shim for the seat post is a myth. Been using mine for a very long time with no damage on the frame. I can also move my dropper post from bike to bike. They just dont want you to be doing that and buy every dropper post for each of your bike.
the new shock is lookin crispy
Excellent bar and stem combo, im using title alloy bars and the same stem and it is the best combo ive used so far! What handlebar length are you using?
780 wide. I'm curious about their alloy bars if they have vertical compliance
@@EvansMTBSaga i have never tried carbon bars so i cant compare but i will say that they feel better to me than chromag fubars and spank spike vibrocore which were waay too flexy for me.
That's your best looking bike.
Nice 80's synth tracks
Where are these companies coming from? First time hearing of Title. Looks like quality stuff. Great vid
Haha new companies pop up all the time. I think Title has been around for a little while. I've seen there stuff for at least a year
The red on there looks great I think you should keep it and maybe even a red coil, not sure tho since you just got a new shock
Considering PNW is based in the northwest known for being wet, its not a suprise their droppers can handle wet conditions well.
Hey Evan, you need to try out a Charge Spoon saddle. They are only $30 - $40, super comfy, and come in a lot of nice colors.
Oh sweet thanks for the recommendation! Good price too
I love my charge spoon so much that i bought them for all my bikes (I'm also a very big guy, don't know if that relates to sit bones)
@@banana122049 I got the brown Charge Spoon with some brown RaceFace grips to give my MTB that old fashioned look and I have been very happy with the outcome!
@@RuezgaDaniel i did the same thing! Such a classy look
Hated the charge spoon, way too curved a profile for me. I have a relatively wide sit bones, so a flatter profile with 148 to 152mm width is what I use
Good job hitting that step up. Its one of those things were you look at it and it looks so crazy because of the rocks and exposure but really its a very small jump. and if it was a step table top then you wouldn't hesitate one bit. But seriously that thing is very scarry in real life.
Haha I can remember the first time looking at the step up and even the downhill before it. I thought this is impossible to do. Thanks for watching and glad you've seen it in person
@@EvansMTBSaga yes we live in Texas but took a summer vacation down to Bentonville area. it was fun
One day I hope to find my favourite most comfortable seat too!
Hey Evan, I’m looking at getting a new bike and I was thinking about the meta sx. But I’m not sure about it because I’m my area there’s some climbs and because it’s a mullet I’m not sure it’s good on them. Could you help me out and tell me if it’s good on them?
Yeah it's my best climbing Enduro and really shines on tech climbing
@@EvansMTBSaga thanks man
Are we going to see any more Meta SX content.
Yeah new wheelset in the works.
You’re not a chicken. Congrats on the achievement
You should get magura brakes and oak components levers to complete the raw metal look
I have met Gwin 6 times. He trains at Windrock Bike Park in knoxville, you should do a video to go there and meet him and the trails there are gnarly and fun. The red bull drop is there too and maybe you could hit that and do a how too conquer fear video. Seth alvo has done one and I think you should too because his was a big success. Let me know if your going because I would love too meet you and maybe tow you into the red bull drop.
Good video aswell!
I’m thinking of buying the same bike but becouse it has 160mm travel in the back do you bottom out easy
Never have tbh
