I own a 2014 Sonic hatch (1.8l 5 spd manual) and it's an absolute blast here in western Montana. I commute an incredible distance (conservativly over 500 miles a week) and have grown fond of these little machines. that the stock suspension geometry, and weight distribution of these machines feels incredibly balanced and well composed in the canyons. Like under-ratedly so. Nonetheless I'm definitely excited and interested in possibly swapping a 1.4T into it with the 6speed or something soon... @@christopherballenger-brook4027 as said in one of zzp's livestreams they say for the 1.8 to look in europe for parts they are under the similar banner as in same bore and stroke as the Z18XER (this is the well known engine code for modifying these 1.8's especially in britain) the aveos (sonics) in america have the LUW and LWE named U18XFR and P18XER respectivly. Here in australia we got the barinas (sonics) with a 1.6 known as the f16d4 these engines are basically the a16let engine from the from the cruze sri v from memory that motor is a revision of the z16let the differences is basically emissions based one is euro 4 and the other is euro 5 seeing as the 1.6 is easy to get forged parts for it is tempting the clutches are probabbly the same as well seeing as the m32 is still used. for 1.8 content i would go and look at
Matthew Chevalier as he is building a cruze 1.8 with a turbo.

To run a slick this size there is no way to keep it all in the fender. Even at the current size we have to have a spacer to get it away from the coilover.

Just curious have you guys considered changing to a 6t45 or 6t50 auto transmission? From research the 6t series bolt up to stock sonic auto bell housing. The 6t50 is rated over 250ho 250tq so should handle the power you're pushing.

We have an auto Sonic that we are beginning to race with as well. It has our new production turbo on it. We won't be going all out like the black car, but it's good to compare. We have noticed that they make about 50whp less on a comparable setup, which is unfortunate.

@@ZZPerformanceChannel Awesome stuff. I'd like upgrade my Cruze to 300whp and that would be plenty for the street. In addition I have 2000 Regal GS with all kinds of goodies, including A2W IC, E85, supercharger CAM(?) and 2.55" pulley with ZPP headers and some kind of dual exhaust setup. I have the N* throttle body with larger MAF sensor. A stage 2 transmission build from some company. Car it certainly a lot faster than stock as it ran 12.80 in the 1/4 mile with the 2.77" pulley. I need to learn how to tune. Then I have a 1986 Buick Grand National, with aftermarket heads and bottom end and fully built race transmission. Now that I spent all the money building up my Grand National, I am afraid to break it now that's why I got the 2000 Regal GS. Although my current setup on my Grand National should allow me to run 10s all day long. It has a 6265 Precision turbo and a massive aftermarket SLIC which still coolest just a good as a front mount. Hopefully I can modify my Cruze to the point of 300whp. However, give that it is an automatic trans, I am not sure if that is possible. Finally I have a 2019 Ford F150, with the 2.7L twin turbo v6. The little v6 puts out plenty of power and I have towed at least 6000 lbs with no issue, the engine didn't even break a sweat.
