Have you ever noticed how many woodworkers are veterans...or how many get out and study engineering? This is the type of interview that I will have to watch multiple times. Thanks for bringing this into my world!
Chris is by far my biggest inspiration, I think the only reason I have a collection of hand tools is because of watching his videos. Really love the point about showing off the joinery and letting the subtle design features speak for themselves.
Chris is a great guy and truly talented! Inspired me too!
#ThirdCoastCraftsman
I'm currently 33, did 11 years in the Canadian air force, currently studying for an engineering degree, and realized a year ago my heart wasn't in it. So I've started slowly getting back into my passion and where I truly know my heart is, carpentry/woodworking. It's extremely motivating watching you speak of pretty much the exact pattern I'm going through. Ill be building my shop come fall, and cannot wait to grab my coffee, start my fire stove, and build things with my hands every single day. Thank you, just shows me if you can, I can.
Absolutely awesome. I consider both of these men my mentors.
Very kind. Thank you
I like this woodsman named Chris. Highly precise and clean! OOHRAH! Semper Fi
Excellent execution! I love the style and the celebration of the intersections.
Thank you very much!
I am no craftsman or artisan but I sure to admire your channel and all the gifted craftsmen and artisans you are introducing me to. Thank you.
Thank you to everyone who watched the premiere and joined the chat!!
Have enjoyed the show for years. I 've been a guitar builder for over 40+ years and your show always has a new twist of skills. Never stop learning there is always new ideals ahead. Keep up the good work!!!!
So true!! Would love to see some of your work. Thank you for the support!!
@@CraftsmansLegacy I just did the final reveal video of my last build. Check my channel there are more on the way. Thanks for your interest
Chris is the real deal, I’ve been a subscriber to his CZcams channel for a long time. It’s great to see you back doing A Craftsman’s Legacy Eric, you know what a fan I am of you and the whole concept of A Craftsman’s Legacy.
Thanks Brady!! I appreciate the love.
Thank you for showing what craftsmanship is to this younger generation. It’s severely lacking
It's good stuff for everyone! Thank you for watching
Hello Eric. I've been a fan since day one and a woodworker for over 40 years. I am glad to see that the show is back and better than ever. I, like Chris am told that my super power is finding the hardest way of doing things, but I maintain that whatever you put into your project you will get back in quality, craftsmanship and pride. I thank you for giving us insight into the different crafts, being fearless in trying your hand at said crafts and asking the thoughtful questions that you do. Bravo Eric.
Thank you, Lou! Very well said. There's much to say for finding the most challenging way of accomplishing something. You always learn a lot.
@@CraftsmansLegacy Thanks for the response. I have taught woodworking and finishing and I always tell my students that failure is a luxury and if you never allow yourself that luxury, you will never find out how good you can be. Also, I have learned far more from my failures than from my successes and if you don't know that something is impossible you might make it possible.
Really inspiring for us amateur woodworkers. Give us help to take it to the next level.
I also noticed the peace associated during this build. I assure you I love peace, and nothing shall interfere it leading to severe consequences. Great video. Semper Fi
It was wonderful to see the beginning of a new season for ACL!! Chris was the perfect craftsman to feature for episode #1! I thought that it was very special that his journey into craftsmanship was very similar to your own, Eric. You both were inspired by your grandfather's love for woodworking! What a beautiful legacy!! The bookshelf turned out great! So amazing that most of the intricate work was done with hand tools! Chris is such a talented and creative craftsman! His shop is awesome and that workbench is amazing! Glad to see you back Eric! God bless!!
Thank you Cindy!
So glad your back on you make all of my family happy. And I have a big family. Haha 20 grandkids !!!!
Wow! You are a blessed grandma!
I love the sign on the wall at the bottom it says stay humble. Words of wisdom
Very good way to live!
It has become my mission, to try and build proper hand tool skills. I've done carpentry on and off since my early teen years. The progression has always been more modern tools and methods if building things. I run a big cnc in a cabinet/furniture shop. With it I can recreate just about anything with 3 dimensional perfection. But it lacks the soul of something crafted with hand tools, by a true craftsman. It's a strange juxtaposition how we live in the information age, but have managed to lose the knowledge these craftsmen built over lifetimes. The kind of knowledge that took so many generations, adding the pieces they discovered. That progression of learning from your father, what he learned from his father, and so on. I think its a beautiful thing. Amd a shame that it is almost extinct.
These visits of yours to craftsman are eye opening, heart warming and creates a sense of inner peace, thanks for sharing these episodes with us.
Thank you for the kind words!
That's a beautiful bookcase!
You guys used Danish Oil. Homemade in Lviv uses American Oil.
Must be like preachers: the farther they come the better they're supposed to be.
Nice! Thanks
To the Craftsman Legacy, I salute you! Semper Fi
What a humble guy. Beautiful work, exceptional craftsman.
Couldn't agree more!
It was a long wait, but YOU MADE IT! Excellent episode sir... Congratulations!
A perfect way to forget the insanity of the world for a 1/2 hr.
I can't wait for the next episode!
Thanks Eric!
Well said! Thank you
Have always been a bourbon drinker. Could never bring myself to like scotch. After your very clear and well organized, not to mention tantalizing, presentation, I believe I'll give scotch another shot. Thanks.
I appreciate the comment but thinking it was meant for another video!! Thanks
@@CraftsmansLegacy I apologize. It definitely was a response to a different video (BourbonMoth). Pretty sure I submitted it to the correct site. Somehow it was posted to yours.
Glad you’re back! My wife and I both enjoy your adventures.
Thank you!!! I hope you continue enjoying the series.
Just watched this (May 5, 2022). I built.a trestle table, 30”x84” in red oak (the hardwood dealer did not have white oak) in 2018. The table used the techniques. It was a stretch for me, but was great to finish.
That's fantastic! Congrats
Whoa! The influence from Grandpa is truly inspirational! That’s how it begins. Semper Fi
I REALLY ENJOYED this episode. Thanks Eric. Have A BLESSED DAY. 😎🇺🇸

Thanks man!! Kind of you to say.
Brilliant show! I loved the fact that he puts so much thought into his projects before he even begins to build them. It’s worth mentioning that one has to have a lot of patience and skill to NOT take the “short cuts.” Great job, Eric.

I loved the video. It took me back to when my father taught me how to use hand tools. Now I teach my kids woodworking and this video is a prime example of using a few modern tools, like a table saw, and hand tools to make a show piece. Thank you.
That is awesome! Thank you

Eric, you found another awesome craftsman. I enjoy how you project respect for the featured people on your show. Chris has another story beyond his woodworking. He found a community and a way to live his dream of old-time craftsmanship using modern media.

Eric, Love your show. Every episode is so interesting especially since you are brave enough to dive in and learn a new craft/skill. I would really like to see an episode of your work on a motorcycle. You have so many skills to show us all.
Thank you Todd! We did an episode at my shop in Season 3, episode 13. You might enjoy that episode.
Nice! Favorite CZcams series featuring a favorite channel! Third Coast Craftsman is a woodworking god. I started watching him years ago when he did a (rolling?) tray with all kinds of cool traditional joinery, half hand tool and half power. Probably watched his whole catalog by now
Chris ia amazing!! I think you'll enjoy this episode!
Thank you for the kind words and love my friend!
Chris you are very inspiring. I follow your channel since some time and wish you all the best in the coming future.
