An absolute bowling genius. I’m an Englishman and I’ve loved watching this man. Even watching him destroying English batsmen you have to be in absolute awe of him. RIP mate
Shane was my favourite, but it's funny because for me I'm Aussie and as a kid I quickly realised that in sport the English were the enemy, but anytime I saw Freddie Flintoff come on, I started cheering and getting excited and my family were like "why are you so happy? if he goes good that means we might lose" and I didn't care, I loved watching Freddie. The same way many English people view Shane, I view Freddie, I wish he was Aussie. Rest in Peace Shane.
Thank you for everything Shane Warne. The hours of watching your craft, the hours of watching your passion, the hours watching your enthusiasm, the hours of watching your interviews, the hours of listening to your commentary, the hours of inspiration. The true GOAT. Love from so many of us in Swaziland that often have and no doubt often will talk about you, always with admiration, respect and laughter. LEGEND ⭐♥️
Brits and Aussies don't mind taking the mick out of each other and themselves. Shane was a great player who took the game much more seriously than he took himself. He'll be missed. RIP mate.
Thank you Shane for just being you on and off the pitch. Your authenticity as a person is what everyone loved about you. I have watched nearly all your career and loved every minute. You have done so much to help a multitude of different people from all walks of life and that is a very special person indeed. Rest In Peace Warnie we all miss you condolences to your entire family
I'm an Aussie and I love them both. When Flintoff went to Brett Lee at the end of the second test in 2005 it was a mark of respect and sportsmanship. That was one of the best games I have ever watched and Australia lost. In fact every time I went to the Oval and watched the Ashes Australia lost. Yes I was there on that Monday and was in tears when Richie Benaud walked across the ground. I think it was his last commentating in England. Shane was loved in England and the Aussies love Fred.
He went to young. Shane seemed to have lived a great life though, even though it was short, he did so much and I can only hope I have half as much fun as he had and try and make everyday count just like he did. RIP Warnie
Yeah, I thought he looked a bit worse for wear.I wondered whether it was me having nasty thoughts about someone. He did develop a drink problem later and I heard it curtailed his cricketing career .He still makes a nice living though.
One of our Country best Sportsmen, did a lot of great things like after the tsunami hit Sri Lanka helped raise millions of dollars for that country, The best leg spin bowler the world has ever seen R.I.P Warnie true Champion on & off the field
As an Australian myself Warnie is like a god of cricket . But i was always a big fan fan of Flintoff . He could bowl and he could bat and gave off an air of ' Fuck with me at your own peril lads ! Hahahaha But he always played fair and in the spirit of the game . Thumbs up to you Freddie .
Ah thank you😊. He didn’t do a bad impression of the Beefmeister during the 2005 Ashes series😄. I still feel genuinely sad about the hugely shocking demise of Shane Warne though. Unarguably the greatest spinner of all time.
Warney stated in many interviews that opposition players sledged him far more than he ever sledged them. I don’t know how true that is but he was always very clear that most of his own sledges were just banter and jokes rather than nasty comments.
Gooch said something really interesting in an interview. He said Warne never spoke to him directly when he was at the crease but would constantly talk and make comments to Gilchrist and other players round the wicket within earshot of Gooch that would subtly undermine him. That's next level sledging
Mind the windows Tino and Mitchel Johnson’s “ What you chirping for not getting wickets” then Jimmy clean bowls him. Two of the best bits of sledging and sledging gone wrong you’ll ever witness
Warnies right, people think sledging is rude, crude and aggressive. A genuinely great sledger can do it any way. I’ve always found that the best sledgers are the ones who are creative, the goal is to break concentration not hurt someone. The 3 best ones I’ve have were 1. We were bowling and the last session the guy was hanging on for dead life, playing no shots at all. After 15 overs he nicked the ball and it was a really difficult catch and our guy dropped it. I called out from cover “Cmon mate you’d have caught it if it was herpes” Everyone laughed for a couple minutes and later 2 balls later he was gone. 2. I got hit in the face with a cricket ball after an ordinary catch attempt that made everyone laugh. So I bandaged a badly cut nose and lips and came back out and started chirping away, but because my face was covered I just made noises like Kenny from SouthPark. Which again proved to be extremely distracting for the batter and we got a couple out after long stares at me. 3 in a game of footy, I packed in for a scrum at prop, as I’ve gone down I said “Oh your hair smells nice, what’s your care routine?” As he started talking back I broke from the scrum slapped the hand of the halfback and he dropped the ball and I dove on it, completely reversing the outcome of the scrum. Not once was I abusive or even swear. The crudest one was on a team mate and was entirely to break concentration of a batsmans
That scrum one holy crap, that is good. By Footy do you mean League or Union? Bloody confusing being an Australian, footy can mean AFL, Union or League lol.
As an Aussie i was extremely lucky to see him play at SCG I'll cherish those moments. I'm in denial & i still don't believe it, I'm waiting for him to pop up & say it was all a sick joke. I know our cricketing family around the world have been in shock & shattered over his passing, the exact same when Phil Hughes passed & we as a world cricketing family came mourned together. But in Straya it's like we arel family. We in Straya get to know our sportsmen & women & it's like we know them really well. I suppose us not having a big population of 24/25 million people helps in that way so us getting to know our sporting heroes & every other Aussie celeb...even the news reader we get to know him like he's the next door neighbour 🥰💖❤️💖🥰
Warne’s first and last Test wickets were at the SCG, but it really was not a great venue for him. In fact, he went 1-150 in that first test. I never saw him take a stranglehold on a match there. Oh, the last wicket was Freddie Flintoff.
What an amazing series that was. People had said England would never win the Ashes again. An ancient contest seemed moribund. And then came 2005. Freddie and Warney, Vaughan v Ponting, Grievous Bodily Harmison, Jones and Hoggard swinging it round corners, Trescothick smashing it all over the place, Strauss bamboozled by Warne but finally working him out, KP's big shots, big personality and big hair, Ashley Giles the wheelie bin and king of spain holding his nerve to hit the winning runs, and always tantalisingly in the balance till the final session of the final day. RIP Shane, gone but never forgotten.
