Nah, there is a choice. He coulda kept defending Earth and not risked bringing a being of possibly equal or even greater power than his own into our dimension. But he'll kick his ass for sure, so this choice was the worst one but also the correct one.
Since we know that the Dark Lord is Doomguy himself from a different dimension, I can't wait to see those two fight

I can imagine Part Two just being a marathon slugfest that never leaves that chamber until one or both of them are well and permanently dead, because without outside intervention I don’t see either Slayer trying anything less then *massacring* each other where they stand without so much as a word. Id like it to be like the final battle where doom slayer rides a dragon and others and the humans on land vs the dark lord and his demons

Honestly, not surprised. Doomguy has always worked for ONE thing: protect humanity. He clearly hates demons, and the angels for they're manipulation. To him, humanity should look after itself. By destroying the Father sphere, the angels will never have the strength to threaten humanity. Now, all that's left is the Dark Lord.
So basically gonna pull a Spawn. Getting rid of God and Devil, leaving humanity to its own devices.

technically destroying the fathers life sphere is a genius idea if you think about it Because as the game states the only way to kill the dark Lord is to bring him into his physical form using the life sphere Assuming the same rules apply to the father, now there's no way to kill the father because there is no life sphere to bring him into his physical form Which is a big brain play by the slayer
Also the father has a paternal affection to his first creation so bringing back the father will only halt the Doom Slayer for killing the Dark Lord.
It also seemed that the slayer sensed greed in Samur so he denied him the father powers. And also, the dark lord wants to kill the father and take his power. By destroying the life sphere of father, he can no longer be killed.
What is confusing and possibly the return of father is how when the sphere broke, some of the essence was absorbed in Samur. The codex mentions that ressurection by possesion is agonizing ( Samur couldn't handle the essence of father in him) which is why he looked like he was in pain. This is also mabye one of the reasons why the father didn't allow the slayer to finish off Samur as maybe he can somehow gather his essence once again and use Samur's body.
But that's just speculation.

He didn't release him. He destroyed the life sphere of the Father, and took the life sphere of Davoth (The Dark Lord) so it could be reconstituted into a new physical form apart from his original one sealed beneath the Pyramid of the Lost.

@@Interloper322 That would be cool. I assume the dark Lord will teleport away or something to get away from the doomslayer initially. If we actually kill the Dark lord in part 2 the only things left to expand the story would be dragons, other powerful demons in hell, or a new dimension with Cthulhu demons or something.

So the whole point of giving the Dark lord a physical form was that it’s the only way to kill him once and for all. Otherwise the Slayer would MOST definitely have crushed the Dark lord then and there with his bare hands. Given they’re both all but literally in the same situation, Is the Father really dead? Or does it need to have it’s own physicality restored to be slain as well?
Pretty much the slayer just trapped the father as a formless conciousness, and now the father is stuck just watching the slayer fuck everything up, unable to reunite with his "body" (vega)

Also. All demons OUTSIDE OF HELL will be destroyed. Because their connection to reality will be severed.
I would also assume that once this dark lord is destroyed. The demons will never have a way to enter reality or the physical plane ever again.
I don't understand this bit. The father is described as a being of pure child like creativity and love, but also a bit apathetic to his creations suffering because he doesn't understand. He'd certainly save humanity and drive the demons back but I doubt he'd wipe them all out, which is what doomguy wants, so they might have ended up clashing, but for now, I would of left him there, where he can't do anything, but her be safe. I would 100% not give it to Hayden tho, fuck that, he was so gonna misuse fathers power.
He is not apathetic. In the lore it specifies suffering was necessary to keep the balance of creation. Hell used to be the first dimension ever created. It was devoid of suffering and look what became of it. The only reason he didn't kill the dark lord it is because it was among his first creations and refused to kill him out of probably paternal affection.
Because Doomguy wanted to give physical form to the Dark Lord to kill him. He's playing it safe. Should the Dark Lord emerge victorious or escape the Slayer temporarily and go to the Sanctum, he'd have the opportunity to bestow the Father with physical form and kill him. Now this eventuality is no more, now that the Father's Life Sphere is gone. The Father can no longer be killed, and the Slayer is free to challenge and kill the Dark Lord for good, and put an end to Urdak and the Makyr sovereignty that he despised in one swoop.
Hayden may have not misused it.
In fact. He returned the crucible to the slayer after figuring out how to manufacture synthetic Argent energy.
So he's still helpful and reliable.
Man I feel bad for the slayer, he found out that both his siri and Alexa were actually both angelic gods

And in his conquest against the blackened souls of the doomed, his prowess was shown. In his crusade, the seraphim bestowed upon him terrible power and speed, and with his might he crushed the obsidian pillars of the Blood Temples.
He set forth without pity upon the beasts of the nine circles. Unbreakable, incorruptible, unyielding, the Doom Slayer, sought to end the dominion of the dark realm.
The age of his reckoning was uncounted. The scribes carved his name deep in the tablets of Hell across eons, and each battle etched terror in the hearts of the demons.
They knew he would come, just as he always had, as he always will, to feast on the blood of the wicked. For he alone could draw strength from his fallen foes, and ever his power grew, swift and unrelenting.
None could stand before the horde but the Doom Slayer. Despair spread before him like a plague, striking fear into the shadow dwellers, driving them into deeper and darker pits. But from the depths of the abyss rose The Great One, a champion mightier than all who had come before. The Titan, of immeasurable power and ferocity. He strode upon the plain and faced the Doom Slayer, and a mighty battle was fought on the desolate plains.
The Titan fought with the fury of the countless that had fallen at the Doom Slayer's hand, but there fell the Titan, and in his defeat the shadow horde were routed.
And in his terrible rancor between worlds and through time, the Hell Walker found the wretch who shall not be named, but in his heresy was loyal to his evil cause. The wretch adorned the Doom Slayer in a mighy armor, wrought in the forges of Hell, impenetrable and unyielding.
With sword and shield of adamantine strength, the Doom Slayer set to banishing all that was left unbroken by his savagery to the void.
Yet as the mighty Titan fell and dread engulfed the armies of Doom, the demon priests of the Blood Temples laid a trap to capture this scourge of Hell.
Insatiable, even by the vanquishing of the Great One, the Hell Walker sought prey in the tombs of the Blood Keep and blinded by his fervor, the lure drew him in.
The priests brought down the temple upon the Doom Slayer, and in his defeat entombed him in the cursed sarcophagus.
The mark of the Doom Slayer was burned upon his crypt, a warning to all of Hell that the terror within must never be freed. There he lies still, and ever more, in silent suffering.

At 2:37 we hear the dark lord and the dark lord is Doomguy so we hear Doomguy.
The Dark Lord isn't Doomguy. When The Dark Lord takes physical form, he can take whatever form he chooses. So, with Doomguy being the most powerful being he can think of, he chooses to take the form of Doomguy. That way, he actually might have a chance of killing him.
@@SF-ow9ym wait, Vega in the end said that he takes form from the the most powerful demon. And as we know about demon's hierarchy (remember that demons are fighting with each other in their free time) Doomslayer is on the peak of it.
Also I mean that if all the cucking hell didn't know bout Doomslayer (but he still was the strongest one in the multiverse) Dark Lord would choose another strongest demon in the hell.

maligog is probably an ancient titan like the icon of sin but lived way longer. the icon died once and never got the chance to grow any more while maligog was alive for eons slowly growing over time. i mean look at his face you can see the skull and I noticed titans who are powerful or really large are given names the rest are slaves
2016/Eternal was an amazing game all around, but what I never expected was how deep the plot was going to become.

Samur must have been far into his transfiguration process as he had that "mmmyyyyy preeecciousss" look on his face with the Father's life sphere near his grasp. He must have been desperate, but geez, there were a lot of Darth Sidious vibes upon seeing that faint smile.
That entire scene had me feeling uneasy, I feel like samur had a darker agenda in mind cause the way his demeanor was. His whole body language and attitude changes as the slayer presents the father's sphere to him before crushing it
@@joshsteele6925 I really had a feeing he was going to betray Vega as Vega betrayed Davoth. He would instead transferred the life energy into his body and take the title of The Father had Doomguy not taken action against him. While Vega had gone through great lengths to help Doomguy rid the universe of Davoth’s influence, Doomguy knew that he had to stop Hayden from continuing the cycle.

The slayer destroyed the fathers life sphere to stop him taking physical form. Had he brought back the father, the father wouldn't have allowed him to kill the dark Lord. With the father now out of the way the slayer and the dark Lord can now do battle, and if the slayer wins it will put and end to hell once and for all.

As far as I understood all this, they used to be good and helped the Father raise other races and civilizations with good intent. After the Father had to leave his physical form because of the Dark Lord, they lacked and an energy source and also couldn't be reborn and couldn't change their Khan either. So a race that couldn't die was now faced with mortality, which is why the Khan Maykr made a contract with the Dark Lord and started to use tortured human souls as means to survive. So basically, they were good, but became corrupted because the Father left and the Khan Maykr made a deal with the Dark Lord.

I just thought Maybe Doom guy from this universe was a dark Lord from the very beginning but was imprisoned by his brother Father ( VEGA) but later from another universe came our Doom guy that we know Father knew this and therefore did not stop him Because he is the only one who can kill him

He really isnt an enemy samuel is just trying to save earth even if the things he is doing is wrong he still will try just for earth to be safe, but im pretty sure he will come back if there is another doom game since he was teleported away

This cutscene is the only good thing toward the end of the Blood Swamps, especially after fighting that shit show of a boss, aka shoot eye cubes while hell knights and pinkies attack you along with losing your mobility simulator. I hated that fight.

Yeah but Hayden was too sure of himself. And foolishly thought the Slayer wouldn't hold a grudge. But now the Father/Vega can't be killed because he can no longer have a physical body so that's a plus. Slayer probably was also suspicious of Hayden and didn't trust him with such power. Now Slayer can bring forth the Dark Lord, kill him and that should really make it harder for the Demons to invade Earth with no leader, even a non physical one. Then they be aimless with no plan.

In short, the Seraph was hella suspicious and the Slayer doubted if Father(god) would really do shit. Plus the Seraph betrayed him before so this is payback. The Slayer wants to revive the dark lord so he can kill him for good.
