  • Rob Houchen will be streaming his solo concert!
The performer, who has had roles in South Pacific, Les Misérables, The Light in the Piazza, City of Angels and more, will be presenting a plethora of tunes from both the worlds of musical theatre and pop, as well as his own original material. The concert was recorded early last year.
Appearing as guest soloists are Alice Fearn and Cedric Neal, with Samuel Wilson as musical director alongside a band of 12. Backing vocalists are Olivia Yahouni and Phoebe Williams.
The show will be streamed via ticket co (you can purchase at bit.ly/3sVfNnb) and you can even watch it on an app on Apple, Android or Fire TV.
Houchen explains: "I was inspired to do the concert as it was a scary concept for me - but Covid was a time to overcome challenges! The key was to spread fun and love through music and make people feel connected to stage performances again after so long without it."
He added: "I chose songs ranging from shows I’ve been in, to pop from the 80s. I always love to mix it up! I had amazing special guests Alice and Cedric who blew the roof off. Olivia and Phoebe were superb backing vocalists alongside Samuel and his incredible band."

He puts the force of his voice on the first syllable rather than the last in his wording when singing. It’s the opposite of Garland. The effect is that the words don’t linger and this is a song meant to haunt you , to stay in your heart for an extra second which gives a full impact. That is what is missing. He’s onto the next word in the lyric and so are you which leaves me untouched. He sings it pretty and this is a “ I’m in the shower crying and I’m sitting down in the tub and I can’t get up I’m so exhausted by my feeling horrible song. I’d say liquored and down but that’s not the way to deal. He means well but the song is slaughtered.no one should sing this song. It belongs to Judy for a reason.

I Agree! It's more like "showing off his vocal prowess", but I'm not feeling the emotions. Vocal power is one thing, but he's disconnected emotionally. I feel nothing.

Rob Houchen is a first rate musician and sings the song with impeccable quality. He brings a set of masculine emotions and, as always, remains one of the top singers in the English speaking world. It may not be to your taste, but he certainly does not "slaughter" anything. The Garland pre-recorded performance, which was shot, re-shot and re- edited many times, remains one of the best things ever filmed.

The Garland version is certainly one of the best things ever put on film but here I see a masculine performance completely connected to conservative, masculine emotions. It would be unusual for a young man to have the same emotions as a female singer in 1954. His incomparable musicianship and good taste are in every phrase, there is no showing off or excessive riffing. If you watch you will see Mr. Houchen 's masculine emotions are colored and change at every phrase.

@@stevepotfora7461 Minnelli shot full takes, His autobiography states that the delay at the beginning was due to having the kid Margaret O’Brien ready to cry. Judy’s version will always be the standard. This version British or not leaves me empty. It’s not the masculine way. Using gender to describe one’s singing style is very weak as mentioned in other comments not yours.
