I was ten during that brouhaha (hahaha). And for a while, I was anxious at times-although it was weird, it was hard to tell how worried to be. By a year later, I think I had pretty much decided that there were no issues that seemed worth starting WW3 over, and surely all the leaders knew it, after all theirs asses were on the line as well. TBH it's really hard to compare the two situations. I can certainly see how things could devolve globally in a way that could possibly lead to GTNW, so in that sense the idea seems more plausible now than it did then. But it would be by a long path, and it would depend on a whole string of assumptions holding true over long periods, so I'm still not that worried. Yet. I do not think the body count will ever get hit enough to set us on that path by itself. But you'd have to be really reckless not to be really worried about the economic future. Even as a pensioner, it makes me seriously concerned. I would hate to be looking for a job right now.

Im in Indiana. First day of school was scheduled for tomarrow. Today I received a call from the school corp. saying that due to covid positive students attending end of summer celebrations and numerous exposures to positive persons they will push back in person classes till at least aug. 26th. I am a high school ELA teacher in south-east Texas. I am TERRIFIED to go back to school. Luckily, my district pushed back our start date, and I will be teaching via computer in my classroom alone for the first 3 weeks...then, if no one dies, my kids will be allowed back at a max of 15 in a room. Mr. Beau, I will be extremely honest with you, that when you mentioned, in a video or so ago, that teachers should treat their back-to-school as if they are preparing for a war deployment; that resonated! I LOVE MY JOB! 17 years a teacher! Again, I LOVE BEING A TEACHER, I just don't want to die.
Actually, the amount of testing does affect how many cases there are. The more people tested, the more people with the virus will know they have and self-quarantine, which will lead to the virus spreading to less people. To summarize, the more testing the less number of actual cases.

Im in Indiana. First day of school was scheduled for tomarrow. Today I received a call from the school corp. saying that due to covid positive students attending end of summer celebrations and numerous exposures to positive persons they will push back in person classes till at least aug. 26th. Honestly, I'm relieved. It's only a couple weeks, but I'll take any delay I can get.
What we have here is a failure to think and a desire to say something despite not understanding the meaning of the words.

I am a high school ELA teacher in south-east Texas. I am TERRIFIED to go back to school. Luckily, my district pushed back our start date, and I will be teaching via computer in my classroom alone for the first 3 weeks...then, if no one dies, my kids will be allowed back at a max of 15 in a room. Mr. Beau, I will be extremely honest with you, that when you mentioned, in a video or so ago, that teachers should treat their back-to-school as if they are preparing for a war deployment; that resonated! I LOVE MY JOB! 17 years a teacher! Again, I LOVE BEING A TEACHER, I just don't want to die.
My schadenfreude for Gohmert is almost overwhelming. Hope I get an opportunity to feel the same way for everyone in this monstrous administration.

Actually, the amount of testing does affect how many cases there are. The more people tested, the more people with the virus will know they have and self-quarantine, which will lead to the virus spreading to less people. To summarize, the more testing the less number of actual cases.

Remember back in the beginning when the President called it "the invisible enemy"? If only we had a way to see that enemy like, I don't know, testing. Testing is how you see this "invisible enemy".Waiting for the enemy to invade (infect people) is a terrible way of tracking it.
