I am not a fan of the people who keep their horses in tie stalls/standing stalls all the time at all, but the way you use them is great. Thanks so much for this!

So many useful small details. And man, i am so jealous about all this beautiful oak!

We frequently get asked about the oak or walnut we use in our projects, but the fact is, it is just more economical for us to use what we have available. (You can see our lumber milling videos) We have looked around and there are few buyers for small lots of wood, and frankly, I like the way it looks and the sturdiness!

Very neat tie - stalls. If possible, tie-stalls should be towards an aisle, especially if horses are stalled for longer times, which is not the case on your farm, to avoid having them stare at a wall.

Yes, I fully agree with this tip! Even though ours are never in for more than a few hours, we still seriously considered putting in windows for them, but there was just no practical way to do it. Our barn is designed like a walk-out basement, so that wall has earth on the other side. I would also prefer an aisle for the purposes of feeding and such, but sometimes, you make do.

Where did you get the connector for the front of the 4x4 divider? I am getting ready to build some tie stalls, and love this remove-able option.

We just ordered A larger water bucket holder with pin from online. There are several varieties like this, but it’s the pin that makes it work like it does. Just make sure it’s a sturdy Bucket holder, so I can support the weight of the beam and the pressure of a horse moving around and bumping it. Put an eyebolt in the end of your beam to connect the pin through.
