Newark Radio Controlled Car Club - A final 2/2/2024
The club had just invested in brand new ETS carpet and this was its first night of use. Grip naturally started low due to no cars having run on it, but ramped up a lot towards the end of the night.
I started on new Voltante tyres for practice which wasn't the smartest move and spent a lot of time drifting. I changed to worn out Hudy's for round 1 and 2 and went 3rd and 5th in round respectively. Round 3 I went back to the volante tyres feeling I was safe in the A final with those scores on the board. The car was quicker over the 5 minute race distance, but only by a single second.
Astonishingly I qualified 3rd with a score of 8! The 3 behind me all tied on 9 and then 7th on the grid with a 10.
Here's what happened in the final. The rear of the car was unpredictable and would catch me out way too often. A lot to work on for next week at least! I felt the front was nice and I had a decent level of front end when the car was behaving. I should of been further up the order, but ultimately brought it home in 6th.
