RACE REPLAY: Tour de la Provence 2020 Stage 3 | Mont Ventoux: Chalet Reynard Summit Finish

- The third stage of the 2020 Tour de la Provence takes on the fabled mountain in Provence: Mont Ventoux. Starting near the mediteranian coast in Istres, the race winds north through the lavender fields of Provence and two categorised climbs before hitting the lower slopes of Mont Ventoux. Whilst the race doesn’t take in the full climb and finishes at Chalet Reynard, it is still the queen stage of the race. Arguably the hardest roads on the mountain are part of the 14km, and average 7.6%. Expect the GC to be decided in an explosive fight on the giant of Provence.

Great climber, it is a demonstration that is not finished. I do not say that he is a favorite to win the Tour, but hopefully, well taken by his team and with the acquired physical and mental maturity, this could be the year of his maximum splendor as a cyclist. When I saw that Carlton Kirby helps call this stage, I said the same thing that he said when Iljo Keisse won the 2012 Tour of Turkey's Stage 7: "Joy to cycling fans globally!"

Y'know it's weird.. I've listened to Carlton commentate loads on Eurosport, but I've never ever seen his face before.. And even though I could see and hear him to start with, it wasn't until I could *only* hear him that I 'recognised' him. :) His seemingly sometimes nonsensical diversions and jokes *always* make me glad he's commentating. Absolute legend!
Yass nothing beat the voice of uncle Kirby and Lloydy when it comes to cycling commentaries
Being able to watch full stages on demand with the legendary Cartlon Kirby commentating is an absolute game changer this season. Since moving to New Zealand I've been stuck with either b grade commentary and 30 min highlight packages or streaming a few pixels change colour behind a thousand pop ups. Thank you so much!

VERY appreciative GCN does these broadcast but usually turn the sound off cuz the commentary is.....not my style, not even for free. Carlton and Dan however work for me. If GCN managed to get a larger cycling package with the big races, I would pay for broadcast.
Thanks, great commentary, somehow works even better than on Eurosport.. As long as Carlton stays on the more humble side ;) and Dan gives himself into emotion a bit more this has the making of a dream ticket.

quintana climbing improved because he is spinning much more than before..His coach most likely saw thi flaw in his technique that he climbs with a bigger gear.. He is now spinning very nicely

James Winer …......sorry, but Carlton Kirby is a cretin and some of his comments are utterly ridiculous! [eg: @2.40 he claimed that the 'wind blew away all vegetation' from the top of Mount Ventoux - which is absolute nonsense!] Ventoux was originally forested to its summit - but from the 12th century onwards it was systematically stripped of trees to meet the demands of the shipbuilders in the naval port of Toulon.
Whenever I watch cycling, I immediately switch off the commentary if it's Kirby - and am only interested in the 'expert analysis' of people such as Brian Smith [who is excellent] and Matt Stephens. Kirby is SO bad - he made even David 'Duffer' Duffield seem good!

Maybe Dan Lloyd could try and estimate just how many plastic bottles he has thrown into the countryside over the course of his short career. Then times that by 200 to get an idea of the scale of the littering of the peloton.
