Rarely nostalgia and juvenile lack of direction have been depicted so precisely. Shu Qi, the soundtrack and the stunning cinematography are among the many assets of this masterpiece.
I completely agree. The evocation of the 'fin de siècle' feeling that gripped young people (and has since turned into an almost 'end of the world' feeling) is conveyed with unprecedented finesse by this immense director.

This movie evokes the gallivanting I did to all sorts of Los Angeles bars from neighborhood to neighborhood when it was showing at Fairfax Cinemas around the early 2000s.
Maybe it is a movie that should grow on me with a second watch, but that first scene is perfect. Banger soundtrack.
It will grow onto you like a friend from the past.
Just watched this today, same sentiments. I loved the beginning and end but the middle not so much. Cant wait to see if my feelings change when I rewatch down the line

Because she went to Japan to follow Jack who left there to escape whatever issue he had because of Doze and since he went back to Taipei and never came back to Japan (it is assumed he was killed) she ended up alone so she met up with the japanese brothers she knew there

She is known as Shu Qi / Shu Kei in the Asian industry. Though, that is not her real name.

Watched it today, very warm film
Randomly found the song looking in a playlist when looking for Long Day's Journey into Night's soundtrack, like it and find out it's from a movie. Then I find your video and wow... Look through a couple of your videos and I don't know how much editing you've done since I haven't seen the movies but your song choice and editing, I love it so much! Made me emotional both times in a couple of minutes, safe to say I added some movies to my watchlist.

Is the playlist you're talking about the one in the bottom of your description? Gotta check that later. I'd definitely take recommendations but I dont really use insta, do you not really do recommendations on twitter?
