I have posted the score of this aria in the original key and also transposed down a half step.

This aria was not in the original opera. Rossini had his pupil write the aria "Vasto Teatro del Mondo". Three years later for the premiere in Rome, Rossini wrote this aria. You will not find "La del ciel nel arcano" in any standard score. I actually found a version posted on line and downloaded the aria that way.

It is now included in Ricordi's Critical Ed. publication of the opera. ;)

But if one were to come close, it would be d'Arcangelo. He is certainly a more engaging actor.

It doesn't seem very fair to take an aged Ramey, with all his experience, and a young D'Arcangelo in his artistic infancy mimicking, as toddlers mimic their parents, the best of the day and on this basis find Ramey to be superior. D'Arcangelo was supreme in L'Elisir; witty and with a lot of presence. Ramey I have found to be rather wooden. Having said that, I'm not sure operatic actors have any recognisable 'mannierisms' to be copied at all; could you be specific?
