Great unbiased review. I have not seen this level of in-depth analysis on this piece anywhere else.. Thank you!
You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
That’s exactly why I knew that Ashley was the perfect person to review this for the channel!
What an amazing review 😮. I watched couple of reviews for this product. But none of them close to yours. Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice job Ashley. Agree on a lot of what I saw, especially the lack of neck and head support and the inadequate rack positions.
I saw Kyle’s review of a similar product and it looks like it had the same issues. I think this is an issue that all of these brands making products for a lower tier price point need to consider changing. I can’t imagine that having better head and neck support would raise production costs dramatically, and it would go a long way towards making the product safer and more effective!
Thank you, Kurt. Looking forward to seeing you again in April at HGC 🎉
The best review I have seen for this machine... Very thorough and you touched almost every single aspect of the pros and cons... Thank you..
Ashley’s going to be doing more reviews for us this year! Stay tuned!
This was an extremely insightful review from Ashley given all her experience and exposure to these two types of machines. Excellent coverage of build and functionality!
Thank you Josh!! Appreciate your feedback.
Glad you enjoyed it! Ashley’s going to be doing more reviews for the channel along with being a regular guest on the Friday morning show so stay tuned!
Great overview! Your unbiased review made me realize this is not something I want. Earned a sub!
Wow! Thank you so much! I don’t deny that there’s a lot of pressure to just sing the praises of these products so you get more affiliate money but I try to remember that I’m obligated to my viewers first and foremost. Thank you for your support!
Fav review thus far of this machine hell yeah
Glad you liked it!
You can use the extreme angle on the leg press platform to help with deeper calf raises. That's about the only use I can think of.
Yes but we've found that since most people lack ankle mobility they don't have the range of motion to actually get a deeper stretch without compromising their position in a different area. If you watch most of the videos where people review this and similar products, the reviewers have their heels coming up at the bottom of the leg press movement and they probably don't even realize it.
@@GarageGymLifeMedia I agree with you. At that angle I wouldn't even risk the leg press, only the calf raises with legs extended. Video was great, love it went deeper than most.
@articex that’s why she’s on the team! Got more reviews from her coming soon!
what do you recommend for a home hack squat/leg press. Thanks for the great review
That's a great question! I don't personally have an opinion about this topic but I'm actually interviewing Ashley tomorrow morning during my Friday morning show right here on CZcams so you can drop that question or any other one you have for her in the live chat and get INSTANT feedback! czcams.com/users/livepo8i2qp1Xuo
Hey man, I talked to Ashley and she said that she's only used the Hoist Leg Press/Hack Squat but she really likes it. www.hoistfitness.com/products/hf-4357-leg-press-hack-combo
I guess im lucky enough that im tall enough to hit those catches. I havent had much of a ROM issue, just have to lower the leg press back rest a couple notches haha. And to get out i have to put my legs down in the middle and then crawl out.
The next support thing probably isn’t an issue for you either cause you’re so tall that any neck support they put on there will probably be in the middle of your shoulder blades anyway 🤣
@@GarageGymLifeMedia i was thinking about that too. I have Abmats chest up pad as well, and that has a velcro strap on it. Wonder if that could wrap around the top and get some extra cushion 🤔
@Eccles_basement_gym that might do it! Strap a spare ironing board on there!
Looking forward to seeing you next month 🎉
Yeah, that’s the problem with all these budget leg press, hack squats is the foot plates are too small and the increments are weird for the adjustments
I think they could have done away with the leg press foot plate with “3 adjustments” which I feel like they thought would be good for advertising…?! Should stick with functional basics such as head and spine stabilization. The concept of the 2 in 1 machine is great. Instead of offering all extra “bells and whistles“ just nail the basics; the equipment should do what it’s intended to do. Home gym users don’t expect super fancy equipment. We just want something that’s effective.
@@ashleytheamazing Yep! It’s like making a curl bar and only knurling 1/3 of it.
Solid review otherwise. The head and neck support would also be an issue for me.
1/3 knurling 😂 that was good
PREACH!
Just curious, do you use something to support your head and neck during a regular barbell squat? Lol
the difference between a barbell squat and a leg press or hack squat is a barbell squat is a whole body movement whereas a leg press or hack squat is an isolation movement where you want to concentrate on the target muscle. So anything that distracts or detracts from your ability to focus only on the target muscle group is a negative and defeats the purpose.
1200lbs isn't the max weight to press. That's the max weight for the weight horns also. I think max sled weight is only 400 lbs.
We understand that 1200 pounds is the rating. Ashley was just making a joke about not many people being able to push that much weight. In any case you would be limited by how many plates you can actually fit on the sled so it’s all willing to say it’s 1200 pounds but can you actually get that much weight on there? I doubt it. But every company tests their equipment to make sure it can handle much more weight than whatever will be put on there. At least if they are reputable, they will.
8:54 That center piece just looks like a groin guillotine.
I think as long as you don’t do a middle split you’ll be fine (but if you do, post it somewhere and tag me)
@@GarageGymLifeMedia if that was to happen I wouldn't be around to tell the tale, lol.
@yrrek1983 oh let’s not do it then 🤣
9:50 This may come in handy for calf raises, too steep for anything else so I assume that's what it's for.
It could depending on your height but we’ve got a follow up video coming specifically about the footplate angles.
