Today, more and more people have exotic animals in their homes: from unusual rodents to snakes and crocodiles. Chipmunks are popular because they look cute and are not very fastidious in their keeping and eating.
From the Latin the name translates as "superintendent of the household. Apparently, it is associated with a love of order and high stockiness. Chipmunks are rodent species that live in the wild mostly in North America. The genus has about 25 species. These are small critters that range in size from 5 to 15 cm in length, and weigh from 30 to 120 grams. A distinctive feature of this genus is the dark stripes along the entire case on the back. The basic coloration is brown in different shades.
Unlike other congeners, chipmunks lead a daytime lifestyle. At the same time, in winter they hibernate. Feed mainly on plants, but sometimes they can eat insects.
They began to keep chipmunks in captivity relatively recently. As it was found out, they quickly become accustomed to humans, lead a diurnal lifestyle, and show practically no cowardice to humans. At the same time. They are prone to diseases, which not every doctor would agree to treat, and also treat their congeners aggressively if they live in one cage with them.

We had a chipmunk years ago. He would come in my house if music was playing. We would feed him and he would run around the room..😮😊

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's probably not a good idea for me to keep a pet chipmunk with my four cats in the house.

My cat loves our chipmunk, it's all just a matter of training them to know. But my cat also is used to having hamsters around too.

There are thousands of cats who live with traditional prey, but as a rules, yes. It’s not not a great idea.

I fed chipmunks by hand. I keep them wild, and wear a glove so they don't get used to humans, and risk of germs. I watched them fight each other for the food, and nearly karate kicked one over my shoulder. They were okay. I stopped for a while when it started making a way into the porch door. I lived how it sat on the step next to me as it ate, and the feel of it's paws on my hand. Haven't seen many lately. Hawks were seen a few times. I also fed deer.

We feed wild chipmunks every day at lunch and it is the best. Can pet them, they will eat out of your hand and will even jump in your car to get some more food.
