  • Draft control sensitivity demonstrated by the ease with which one can lift a plough by hand effort alone.
    Developed By Harry Ferguson as a means to regulate plough depth in the soil and to aid traction by transfering weght to the tractor rear wheels.

    That is a very cute demonstration of who knows what. But nothing was explained about what draft does or how to use it.

    This is a nice demonstration of what it is doing at the one setting. What I'd like to see is the differences in the action with the draught controls set differently. I just bought a '61 Massey 35 with the Z134 gas engine, and am going to be messing around with it to see how it reacts at different settings. The old manual I got off ebay shows different settings for the control, but isn't that clear on what or why. We'll see how it does. Finding detailed info on the old tractor is a challenge.

      Yes it is a challenge. I have a TO 35 and need a steering gear box or kit.

    As a farmer, just seeing this demo. NEVER USE DRAFT CONTROL to attach and remove any 3 point machine, only POSITION CONTROL. There is a valve in the Top Link which enables machines i.e. Ploughs and Cultivators to come out of the ground when in work, should they hit something harder in the ground , thus pushing the Top Link forwards , and lifting the machine. Floating machines, also should also use ONLY POSITION CONTROL. Draft can be DEADLY if used not correctly.
    Virtually all hydraulic tractors will have a Position and draft control system on, either top link or lower links. Please be safe when using any Farm Tractor

      Ok so don't use it while attaching the plow? But use while plowing? Sorry just learning. Thanks

    Thank you very much for post this, I have always wonder how to test drift control while at a stand still.

    OK, I guess I don't get it. this didn't explain anything. how do you adjust? I saw how to raise and lower I guess but not how to adjust. Or am I just missing it?

      The title and description say nothing about adjusting. You must've clicked the wrong video.

    Why is 80% of your screen blocked out on part of the video?
    Is that what you do to your windshield when you drive your car?

    I tried this today with my 35x. Position control worked perfect. However the plough begins to lift when I raise the draft control lever about 4/5ths of the way. I can lift the plough up the rest of the way by hand, like in the video, but when it falls back down it judders quite badly. I'm guessing this means the hydraulic pump needs to be rebuilt? Would I still be able to plough it?

      @berniestarzewski5482 Před 5 lety +1

      Not necessarily. that series has a filter screen on the pump intake and if it is plugged it will act like that. Its under the square plate on the trans right in front of the seat but the filter is below the oil level so you have to feel around for the wing nut that holds it in place and remove the whole assembly.

    i tried this on my MF1035, the plough is lifting with position control & also with draft control. but i am unable to lift by hand as shown in the video.... could u suggest how to achive that.... seems i am missing something...!

      Put both to lowest setting then lift the plough just of the ground then bring the draft control just bellow where it wants to lift the implement. then when lifting the implement with the draft lift it as to push on the top link.
      I'd have to try this my self on the Nuffield when the clutch is fixed.

    Can you make a video how to hook it up and talk about how that spring vale works, how should it be set. I have my link attached but the spring isn't compressed. When I raise the blade it won't drop back down even when I use the lever to put it down
