American Idol did not do her voice justice. I always thought she could sing, but the girl can SANG!. Plus, she has some soul to her voice. Her technique is awesome. She could literally sing the phonebook & I would enjoy it. She's a powerhouse singer!

When I heard Kelly duet with Josh Groban on the cover of All I Ask of You, I never would have thought she would sing musical and broadway but she blew me away with her vocal range. Seeing her sing a classic beloved Sondheim's Losing My Mind - Chef's Kiss! Love it.

There is a long video on CZcams with Jason Halbert her music director. It's terrific and covers the whole behind the scenes of music production for the show...really good. He's been with Kelly her whole career. Obviously she's wonderful to work with. Her entire band moved to NYC to stay with her. On a show the other day she mentioned they filmed 9 songs in one day of all styles to have them ready in case she gets sick. She's the best!

Kelly is an amazing vocalist, been saying that for years! I wish she'd put out a Kellyoke album - it'll be a smash hit for sure!
One of my favorite things about Kelly is her ability to sustain a note. She'll let it hang there, she doesn't rush it, there's no loss in pitch. She can hold a note beautifully for a ridiculous number of beats and for maximum impact. She can do all the awesome vocal manipulations and flourishes of the best, but there's something to be said for just singing the dang note and doing it well.
So the people who choose the song, are the audience members. Kelly has spoke about it in some interviews. She chooses a member at the beginning of each show. They give her the song. And she goes back and memorizes the song! She's incredible
I just love Kelly my god. Btw Tara is the fans who choose the songs before the show and I think she has half an hour to learn the lyrics and melodic line in case she doesn’t already.

Heard her say that fans request the songs for her. Her team then gets the legal approval before she sings them on her show.
Seems like I remember something about how she once said that the songs are audience choice right before the show and a lot of the times she doesn't even know the lyrics and has to look it up before the show starts.
