  • I visit a holiday park that used to be 2 different parks, Seacroft and Hemsby Beach Holiday Park
and now one BIG super park with a range of accommodation including the old fashion holiday camp buildings and the NEW. It's certainly one of the most unique parks in the UK that currently offer this but not for long. See the changes and what's on offer at Richardson Hemsby Beach Holiday Park.

Where the staff chalets are over the back of that which is now caravans used to be the pontins shooting range, also where that tennis court is, years ago they used to host the national netball tournaments there, the competitors stayed at pontins over the road, even though sea Croft was no longer pontins when I worked there, back in the day we would still sometimes go over and help out at pontins on special weekends. If you can, see if you can find an image of the old ballrooms original inside wall deco, it was amazing artwork!

I’m sure I stayed here in about 1967 in one of those sheds. It was the most basic camp accommodation but the pool ,restaurant and ballroom were good. Although basic it had a much nicer feel than other camps and was very friendly and fun .

I visited Seacroft many times in late 60s/ early 70s as a child with my parents. The Blue Lagoon club was where the car park is now. That wasn't the ballroom.
You are correct about the outdoor swimming pool which was located next to the bowling green as you suggest. In those days, all meals were taken in the camp dining room. The Seacroft holiday camp was privately owned by Mr and Mrs Jack Bishop in those days. Thanks for posting. A great video and very nostalgic for me.

  • @alexc32002

Seacroft was the last of its kind , a Traditional place that offered more of a personal experience though it did have some large "Ballrooms" nightclubs Nelson ballroom and I think it was Victory Bar plus main Ballroom in Reception building " Trafalgar ballroom . I went there on Themed Weekenders in the 90.s and 00;s but had Older relatives who loved it for week break . Great Food , Clean chalets , nice outside pool for summer and close to a lovely beach yet small enough not to be overwhelmed plus no KIds if you like most adults need a break from them at times . I feel they should have Kept Seacroft End as a Traditional Holiday Camp and had New area for Family holidays . Personally I would not go to the New place with all those Caravans looks like some kind of internment camp , Not my idea of a Holiday . Kids may enjoy it though .

The large 2 storey blocks are very English holiday camp. Warner Leisure at Corton have some in this style although the interior of the one I stayed in was up to date and they had converted it into a suite by knocking through the adjoining wall. So walkway and front door on one side and a balcony/patio on the other side.

The Corton area has some small caravan and villa parks as well as Warners which has a outdoor games area and beach garden. Warners Gunton Hall a bit further south is also a lovely park with lake, adults only. Next door is Pleasurewood Hills theme park which we visited back in the 90s when Noel Edmonds had a stake in it, saw him at a charity do there once.

As usual enjoyed the video, just bit disappointed not to see inside the facilities, yes the accommodation is important but when on holiday you want plenty of leisure facilities, did not see any of the inside facilities on offer i.e entertainment/leisure complex or dining available, you usually cover the accommodation on offer and also the leisure facilities available, still a thumbs up though tim👍

Of course it's got a tattoo parlour. The only design the guy knows how to do though is a British bulldog wearing boxing gloves 😂

Hello Tim. Do you ever go to places where a couple of old, young at heart wrinklies might enjoy (both 75). Most places only cater for families with kids, nothing wrong with that at all, and I don’t want an old folks place either 😂😂😂

Try Warner Leisure holidays. No kids allowed (hurrah). Clientele ages range from 40s up and the people your age put me to shame with their energy!

Thanks Tim, and thanks Asti T. I did laugh about your reference to Bingo. Sorry but we might be of that age, but Bingo is not yet on our radar 😂😂. Many thanks and I know you mean well. By the way we love kids and it’s not because of them I messaged Tim. There seems to be 3 types of UK holiday. 1. Designed for families with kids. 2. Designed for those poor old buggers that find it very hard to get around, Bingo, quizzes etc are ideal for them. 3. Young adults that have no fear of very scary rides, or hillclimbing, cycling etc. We have both been on the Zip wires in Wales and loved it. This is turning into a saga, sorry.
