This guy was fucking brilliant and I don't care what anyone says. First of all, no human being should be that good looking. Second, rhythmically his stuff was amazing. Stage presence, charisma, songwriting, hooks. Adam has it all. Yep, I've had a mancrush on this guy for a LOOONG time...

I saw them on the tour previous to this. They were a fine live band who put on a great show. At the time I was dismayed by the pop direction that they headed off in. I drew the line at Stand And Deliver. I've mellowed over the decades and I can appreciate the later stuff. Young fans sometmes make the mistake of thinking that the groups they admire are somehow theirs and that they should produce material to satisfy their wants. Obviously that's not the case. People mature and artistes develop and that's just the way it is. Gary Tibbs is a great bassist who enhanced the band.

I saw them back in 1980 in Long Beach, California. Some group from Australia opened for them, I believe they were called "INXS," or something like that... Adam and the Ants virtually exploded on stage, everything was perfect, nine or ten, maybe 12 songs, went by in what seemed like minutes. I bought a t-shirt for 10 bucks, printed on both sides; front was Adam (posing) and the Ant Headdress logo on the back. I wear an Extra-large, but all that was left in stock was Small, so I never wore it.

Fun Factz: Part of Adam & The Ants sound is directly derived from Burundi (African) drumming. An album of Burundi drums was released in the UK and was a surprise hit. Some of the beats on Kings of... come directly from that album. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails covered You're So (Physical) years ago, good cover. Last, everyone probably knows that early on, Adams band was talked into leaving Adam by none other than Malcolm McLaren (Sex Pistols manager). They formed Bow Wow Wow and were kind of a 1 hit wonder while A&TA's did quite well. I did like Bow Wow Wow's cover of "I want Candy" back then and thought the singer was cute. She was only like 15 when BWW started!
