  • I am fortunate enough to welcome Rob English for a second time to Health & Care. The Oscars this year brought Alopecia Areata to the forefront of the conversation and Rob English is at the forefront of the topic of hair growth. He is a published researcher, has published 5 peer-reviewed studies, and is paid to edit medical research on the subject of hair growth and the topics surrounding it. He is the founder of www.perfecthairhealth.com where he focuses on evidence-based options for slowing, stopping, and even reversing hair loss. Like me, he is big on self-care and his beautiful head of hair that was once balding is part of the proof that his techniques work. He reversed his androgenic alopecia and tells his story in Episode 8 of Health & Care.
I appreciate how Rob is versed in alternative treatments like low-level laser therapy, self-massage, light therapy, Biotin, baldness supplements, platelet-rich plasma for hair loss, growth factors, stem cells, and a plethora of other therapies. and conventional hair-loss treatment options like hair transplants, Minoxidil, Propecia (Finasteride) Rogaine, etc.

Basically your gut health has lot to do with your hair growth. If your gut is in poor condition it will effect your overall health and that includes hair. If you are not absorbing the nutrients and vitamins in your gut it doesn’t matter what you take. So start with a healthy gut for successful regrowth.

My hair loss I blame on stress. My head was so soar I had to shampoo it in cold water. That was sixty plus years ago! So I started taking large doses of kelp and brewer's yeast and it worked . Now aged eighty-four I am going through the same process and once again it works even the grey hair is changing back to its original colour.

My hair quality has changed and has gotten a bit more wiry but that is from my mom's genes..But, so far so good! I find that my hair looks far more full when it is cut short.. I've been suffering from an even loss of hair where all over my scalp there's hair falling even I'm not combing or brushing my hair. To regain back my hair I started applying Cocconion anti hair fall set by littleeextra and it proved effective in boosting hair thickness and growth. I would suggest if you use it then always wash your hair by diluting shampoo with a little water before applying as it performs better that way. When you apply hair oil then heat it a little and then massage on scalp. Apply it at least once a week. Use neem wood comb while brushing your hair and use scalp massager while hair cleansing to get remove dirt, sebum etc and it gives even better results.

Centerline about 5" by 11 " top of head is a MINEFIELD. Soaks up DHT like a sponge. My first groups of 1000 grafts lasted 5 - 6 years. I began a series of scalp excisions taking 55 sq in of bald space down to 27 inches. Transplanted 11,000 mini grafts but they lasted 3 years to four years. 12 years ago, after a 3 year regimen of Minoxidil and Finasteride THEN I did 7500 grafts plus about 1500 neck and beard grafts and here we are 12 years later, and I've 90% of what I transplanted left.
My solution for me is drug therapy for scalp and body, THEN transplant for best outcome and retainability.

My experience was that shaving to the skin - using 000 blade on Oster professional clippers - caused what appeared to be double density of individual follicles and normal growth coming in where near baldness was present. TO BE CLEAR one was my niece who had been on scalp electrodes after birth and by age 2 still had a nearly bald crown and ring around the occipital also nearly bald. And working in hair cutting in the 90's I did a LOT of bowl cuts (shaved from nape & ear to occipital area.) For my niece I shaved her whole head about every 2 weeks for 3 or 4 months and then let it grow back in. Her hair grew in uniformly and very thick, which it has remained for about 17 years so far. For the boys and men I shaved virgin hair and had such frequent repeats that I really got to know them. In general side-burn and side scalp hair got thicker both in coarseness and density - to the point that I worried these guys were going to regret the hairstyle as they aged (because the top was SO different) My nephews, who's hair I still do still have the same pattern of density - the sides are about double the top and they have gone to #2-4 tappers into longer tops (your normal 1950-1980 business cut.) However the coarseness of the sides and back have evened back out after years of not shaving. Despite the fact that the longer hair is still cut with the same clippers using a guard.

It was also interesting that my nephews hair remained thicker but the texture normalized compared to the top hair over time - once it was allowed to grow out and just be trimmed again. I was worried for about 3 years and now their hair looks and feels exactly the same - except is about twice as thick on the sides as top and they're both in their early 20s.

And if you use fake henna, like Surya Creme (it has chemical solvents in it that ruin your hair over time. Talking about hair transplants thinning - could that just be the non-transplanted hairs continuing with their own miniaturization and loss process *around* the hairs that were transplanted? As you mentioned, it is always highly recommended to stay on medical treatments like finasteride even after a hair transplant. And actually, most recommend to not even attempt a transplant until you have been on finasteride for a year and confirmed that it effectively stabilized your loss. If finasteride doesn't work for you, then a transplant will likely lead to bad situations in 5+ years, where the transplants remain but your natural hair continued to thin and fall out and your hair pattern is a mess.

Those long term hair transplant photos are just as likely to be because the original hair that was in the recipient area continued to thin and fall out after the transplant just as you would expect, not because the transplanted hairs fell out. Especially since people have a tendency to slack off on the pharmaceuticals after the transplant because they don't feel the same urgency they did when they looked bald. My hair just stopped falling out after three years. Potassium deficiency. You need to eat 6 bananas and, or potassium supplements. It is a horrible death. Eyes, dry eyes, heart, teeth, muscles, so much more malfunctions. Brain misfires. Short-term memory.

Anecdotally, Dr. Shawn Baker said he had some grey hairs that were reversed after going carnivore. I’ll report back if that happens with my 10-20 grey hairs, now that I’m carnivore.

9:37 when the Telogen hair (with the little buld end) sheds out...will another hair grow back in that follicle? Covid "club" hairloss sufferer here, who lost 1/3rd of the hair on my head.
    Am I doomed?
( Monoxidyl allergy, accompanied by, swollen, burning, red raised scalp reaction even for the lowest amount of product. ) very sad about this whole thing.

No, not doomed. I know nothing but take a good prenatal to restore your vitamins and an amino acid complex. Eat moringa fresh as amino acid complex. As I read your cells need food to fight the c and may just need replenishment and it could be just one nutrient they are lacking. For the prenatal get health food store kind with Brussel sprouts and 20 other ect greens. Bled for 4 months into pregnancy, 2 dr said normal, lazy people, needed Brussel sprouts, found the info after hrs online.

Graying of the hair is closely related to consuming more than one source of animal protein a day. Stick to one type of protein ex. Egg day, Fish day, Liver day, Steak day, Turkey day, Pork day, Fasting day in a week = no more gray hair!
