    Thank you, great information. I am 51 and had to get in the gym following a severe knee injury under a physiotherapist. I was very nervous as not been in since my 20’s pre children but it’s been amazing. I am stronger than I have ever been after 6months, dropped 2 dress sizes to 150lbs and gained loads of defined muscle. Menopause symptoms gone!. Your inspiration has kept me on track and my body feels good so thank you, it’s never to late to change.

    I always enjoy listening to Dr. Lyon. However, there seems to be a lack of understanding regarding Pilates. I have been taking Pilates for the last six years (advancing from basic level 1 classes to advanced classes) using the Pilates reformer, the cadillac; weights, bands, BOSU, the TRX, and Pilates chair. I have increased my strength and build muscle. Pilates offers a variety of exercises that challenge all of the muscle groups, not just the core.

    Thank you for talking about not getting sleep when you have kids. When I listen to studies that talk about how sleep impacts your muscle growth I just cry because I love my babies, I love my kids but it seems so hopeless to hear that this time period of my life is really impacting my muscle and I get overwhelmed and "what's the point in trying" about trying to build muscle when I don't ever sleep. And I just love that you acknowledged that you don't get sleep and it's bad for muscle BUT you go to the gym anyway. You can still impact your health and muscle regardless of being in a season of no sleep while growing your family. Thank you for talking about this❤

      Don't try to build right now. Try to maintain. I know what it's like having little ones that you are investing in. Just do your best to maintain without burning yourself out. Get rest as much as you can. You can build later.

    Omgoodness I love Dr. Lyon! I burst into tears hearing what she said about GPL-1! I have binge eating disorder and I'm on Wegovy. It has changed my life. I'm being monitored by my doctor and I haven't loss any muscle. So far I've lost 37 pounds and I've been on it for a year. I'm ten pounds away from my goal weight. I started weight training and I'm really dialing it all in. I get my protein in, I'm in a calorie deficit and my goal weight is just around the corner. And thanks so much for this video. It's one of the best interviews I've seen with Dr. Lyon. It was really down to earth and focused on a lot of women's issues. PS... I'm a fan of yours now and I just turned 60! 😉😉😉❤️❤️❤️

    Great listen from two interesting, driven women. This lifestyle has been my reality for decades. It's been difficult at times but worth the dedication, to put it mildly. I have eaten a plant based diet for 45 years and can attest protein consumption is a challenge but for me, non negotiable.

    Dr. Gabriel has said in several of her videos that you can get the same results being on a plant based diet and thrive on it. Then, to make the statement, raising a child plant based is child abuse is nonsensical. Contradicting herself and throwing around opinions is completely fine, but I can see how she offends so many people, even acknowledging it in her interviews. Her opinions are very disagreeable, and her diet doesn't seem overly impressive. She really does look like she eats a lot of flesh foods.

    • @beee___
      @beee___ Před 4 měsíci +8

      Yeah, I am all for her getting more women into lifting weights and eating more protein. You absolutely can get adequate protein from a plant based diet. To say it's child abuse to raise a vegan child is absurd. Wonder if she would think raising a child who eats nothing but chicken nuggets and mac n cheese is child abuse.. probably not.

      I think she said this due to pediatric nutrition needs are different from adults. Esp under age 12. As in the protein in chicken, beef, eggs, fish, etc is what builds tissue for proper growth and development. I used to work in. Pediatric clinic and did medical records coding, and this is what i remember.

      It looks like rapid aging & collagen lost.

    • @teresashelley
      @teresashelley Před 3 měsíci +1

      It’s more a result of the weight loss. If they have been overweight for awhile it likely has disguised some of the sagging. I know with me personally I look like I’ve aged just from the weight loss alone because I don’t have the fat now in my face that I had before. The fat was filling out some of the sag and wrinkles. It really has nothing to do with the drug itself. There are many doctors that have discussed this and plastic surgeons. They all say the same thing. It is just the weight loss itself. Some of it may go away just as you have cell turnover and skin renewal but also I kinda don’t feel like we get it all you know. I can look a little younger and be fluffier or I can look a little older and be thinner. I’m not sure we get both. The people that have never stretched out their skin with extra fat to begin with may have that advantage but the rest of us don’t.

    B12 comes from animals that are supplemented. Your body makes Creatine and there's nothing wrong supplementing B12 or Creatine. All other micronutrients she said that could be an issue with plant protein mentioned can all be found in plants. Eating variety of plants is key. Yes, you could mix lean animal protein like a Middleterranean diet but people who are relying mostly on plant-protein aren't just doing it for their own diet. Animal agriculture is the problem.
