How to Open Painted Shut Windows

Often older homes have been painted multiple times and the painters weren't cautious about ensuring the double-hung windows worked properly after they were done so the windows are painted shut. Jill shows a quick and easy method for getting them unstuck so they will open again.

I'm so sorry I didn't respond to this question! Yes, it will work if they haven't been opened in years. It may take a little more effort to cut through layers of paint with the utility knife and more (careful) prying and jiggling but eventually you'll get there!
