  • Microneedling was hyped from a 10-year-old study that studied microneedling with minoxidil. This study only confirmed that microneedling helped with the absorption of minoxidil. Aggressive microneedling can cause shock loss and trauma to the hair follicles, making you look balder. Also, it could potentially cause fibrosis, a thickening of the scar tissue, which will inhibit the growth of a hair transplant should you get one. I think it's better to get high-quality minoxidil with retinol or switch to oral minoxidil. As a standalone, there aren't many scientific studies to back the use of microneedling.
    I'm taking 5mg of oral minoxidil, which requires a prescription from a physician. Click here to get a prescription from one of our recommended surgeons. hairtransplant....

    Guys, just a tip in general. If you are unsure of something and people keep talking, just go for it yourself and try it out. I personally have seen very promsing results with microneedling, both for my face and hair. Of course I'm not suggesting that you go out and try evidently dumb things. In the case of microneedling tho, there is a lot of misinformation.

    I think showing scalps that are bleeding is misleading and not representative. If a scalp is bleeding, the needles are the wrong length. This is an argument for avoiding doing wrong, either the wrong depth of needles or using it excessively. What good is recommending minoxidil? Any benefits disappear as soon as you stop using it.

    • @HairTransplantNetwork
      @HairTransplantNetwork  Před 7 měsíci

      I'm showing this specifically because this is what people are told about microneedling: that you need to bleed to create a wound that will trigger healing and collagen production.

      The problem is everyone says different things. Some say bleeding is fine if minimal, others say it’s not. Some say 1.5 is a good length, others say it’s too much. The truth is, there isn’t enough data from studies to conclusively say what is the right way to micro needle, and we don’t know the long term side effects. It is possible scarring could occur, and infections could possibly happen.

    Nonsense. I see my cuticles cut once and again, and growing back again like nothing and no damage whatsoever. The only risk is an infection.
    How come micro wounds on the scalp would damage it when it subsequently promotes collagen, elastin and grow factors?
    The skin has a memory and as long as you don't exceed the depth indicated or apply the wrong technique, there should be no problems with microneedling. This is the principle of it. Moreover, to treat SCARS the indicated depth should reach 3mm, way deeper, if scaring it's inevitable everyone that has underwent the treatment would have a tougher face than you that even made a video maliciously detering people suffering from one of the most depressive conditions to do something rather than not, just because they don't have thousands of $$ to get a hair transplant.
    You know that hair you got trasnplanted it's at risk and that the same process can't be done infinitely. I dont know what else would you do but having men doing something for their health and appearance should never be discourage.
    If women can undergo surgeries and painful treatments to look good...

      If studies are lacking, the best results out there on tressless surely microneedle.
      The thing, I guess, is that most people don't only don't know why it probably works but also don't try to guess. They expect it to work but have no idea why, so they can't antecipate where it wouldn't work.
      There are studies where it works alone, by itself! Why would that be?
      The theory I like the most is that it is, very likely, related to tissue fibrosis - like the video says. This is specially interesting. It's a hypothesis that says that some people after some years without hair growing there just get an inner fibrosis that tightens the scalp. Dermarolling would be like going to dry earth and carving holes there. See where is the main problem here? If the soil doesnt have enough nutrients (and the smallest possible quantity of "pests") it would be worthless carving holes there. Possibly, the newer fibrosis that would happen after the holes were opened would be EVEN WORSE. That is the most important point: underneath the dry, the soil has to become good. Then, needling probably would help. It would allow the newer fibrosis to be better than the last (and better, and better etc.).
      But like I said before, if you don't target your problems, opening holes on an even worse soil will mosy likely just create scars and thus, worst fibrosisis.

    Yeah...I microneedled for around 6 months, then got a hair transplant 1 year after that. Used the derma pen--the expensive 'best' one to use. My HT doc said he could tell the skin was all scarred up and vascular. It was harder for him to make holes in my scalp for the grafts because the skin was toughened up. He said it could also affect the growth of the transplant negatively. Thankfully it grew out fine, but I definitely won't be micro needling anymore!
    edit** I will say that I believe micro needling helped me with my hair gains, but not because of micro needling itself. I believe it's because I was using minoxidil alongside it and I think the open wounds from the needling helped the minoxidil absorb better.
