i play strionic resonator to get cascade x3, too fun. it kind stinks having to wait for main phase two to start casting the big dogs
What would you take out in favor for fireshrieker?
Gavel of the righteous is probably my favorite, and lizard blades is more efficient than fireshriekers

Goldfish it A LOT. Yidris was my first, turned him into a wheel storm deck. And it took a while to get used to knowing what to cascade into, etc.

I bought yidris when his commander deck came out. I never knew how cascade worked thanks for the deck tech.
Sucks it says cascade from your hand and thus doesn't allow to use stuff like flashback
@@feritperliare2890 They needed to put that in otherwise each spell you cascaded into would also gain Cascade and then you'd always cascade down to your lowest CMC possible.

Yes! A Yidris deck! Thank you Mitch...ive been trying to build one for about a year. Figuring out the theme and finding the right cards for this has been a big challenge for me. So many ways you can go with this commander and you picked the best way in my book

Personally, I'd play Spell Swindle instead of Plasm Capture; I've found that Plasm Capture can be pretty hard to cast in 4-5 color decks.
Plus, the mana's available at a time where you can actually cast Cascading spells.
I dont like counterspells in cascade decks unless they're modal, purely because it hurts so bad to hit them
Drake, Spell Swindle is actually good here because we have access to multiple things that reduce mana cost. Spell Swindle could essentially turn into Counterspell but with an amazing second ability. It's almost like Brass's Bounty at instant speed for only two mana.

Personally, I'd add in some "You get an extra combat phase" effects. This lets Yidris to hit a player again - and his ability stacks, so all spells you control get Cascade Cascade.
You can also use some cheap spells that give Yidris double strike. His ability will trigger twice.
So you can get Cascade Cascade Cascade Cascade ... or more...

I cannot express enough just how insane Baral's Expertise is in a Yidris deck! Because the second ability casts the card from your hand the free card also gets cascade. It is just so good
I've built a few versions of Ydris over the past few years, pretty excited to see what you do here!
This commander is really cool. All the undaunted cards work, expertises and any spells that untap lands. I built mine with he goal to cast as many big spells for cheap. Ghalta is a prime example

Yidris is one of my favorite decks. For an easy way to increase the power level of the deck presented here, just swap out the 1 cmc cards for more busted options, like sol ring, reanimate, wheel of fate, or any of the 1 cmc tutors. Then, EVERY two drop you cast is guaranteed to hit one of these very busted cards. My deck focuses on casting as many signets as possible, hitting 1 cmc rituals and card draw, then eventually hitting retract to play all the signets again and elixir of immortality to shuffle the rituals back in. If done right, you can go infinite just by hitting with yidris and casting ~3 random 2 cmc cards. 'Tis neat.
Damn, I love the cascade and storm combination. However, I think there's too few cards to help Yidris be unblockable. I'd add at least a Aqueous Form or something.

I have a Yidris discard deck. I had a Yidris "Steal everyone's stuff" deck that wasn't fun and/or good so I took it apart. Now I am tempted to do Yidris Trample Tribal thanks to the new set support. Seems like a fun budget build.

I mean, he has literally no synergy with infect so I don't know how you arrived at infect in the first place
I used to love Yidris. Once, I cast a spell after attacking in, so it had the cascade...but then, I also had Rashmi and Sunbird's Invocation on the board. THE VALUE!!!!
I like to add Minds Dilation for some extra fun.

The most important upgrade I think you missed is double strike. If he has double Strike it's two instants of combat damage and that's two Cascade triggers!!
I like Canopy Cover with Yidris. Enchant creature, can only be blocked by flying or reach, can't be targeted by opponents' spells or abilities.
Nice little evasion and protection package. Also, it costs just 35 cents :)
You're insane releasing these deck techs back to back. Can you please build a Tayam deck? Their are too many cards to put into the deck.
A commander deck tech I would like to see would be melek Izzet paragon
I'm planning on a Yidris Mutate deck when I get some Ikoria cards. Mutate something with flying onto him and get some good spells in with the cascade.
I've built this one when they were released. Once your playgroup knows how it wins, they will never let you win with it again lol.

I run a Yidris artifact voltron deck. You just cascade into more equipment with low costed equip abilities.
Nice deck tech. Yidris is my all time fav. I'd strongly recommend cutting aether gale though. Those six permanents you target need to be there when the spell resolves or its 5 mana just to cascade and no effect on the board (opponents will sac instead very often). Throes of chaos is a nice addition so you always have cascade if you simply draw into a land and double cascading after a yidris hit is very nice.
Thats technically true... but if all of the permanents are gone hasn't this just become a really powerful removal spell? Also (you may already know this but it's unclear from your post) the spell will still resolve properly even if a few of the targets are gone. If your opponent just sacs one or two of them, the other four or five will still bounce as expected.
@@jamesgene4763 ah good catch. Not sure ruling changed or if it was just not clear but it functions like Hex which at one point I thought would not resolve if the targets were not legal upon resolution.

I have my own yidris deck, is not storm, is more creatures based with bloodbraid elf, shardless agent, etali, Rashmi, many auras and artifacts to protect and give evasion to yidris and is really fun to play
Great deck! Yidris is my favorite commander for cEDH but I'm impressed you could build it on a budget! Also, just a tip for everyone out there who wants to build some form of this deck: you may want to consider removing some of the counterspells from this deck. Interaction is great, but it really hurts when you can't cast the spell you cascade into.
How about counterspell that have other effects, like Mystic Confluence, or non-conventional counters, like Unsubstantiate and Narset's Reversal???
@@Mr_Myst13 I'd say Narset's Reversal is fine because it can essentially let you cast another copy of a spell. I personally don't play Mystic Confluence but I'd say it's fine if you do. Unsubstantiate doesn't feel like a card I'd like to put in my deck because it doesn't further your game plan and doesn't actually remove an opponent's card. A card like Unwind, though, is not one that I'd like to cascade into.

I have a very similar deck to this. It can win from nowhere and it is pretty fun most of the time but suffers from what I like to call "The solitaire problem".
Basically on most games when you go off it feels like you take 5-10 minute turns where you play solitaire with yourself and you have to keep track of stuff like floating mana and storm which takes even more time until finally you can kill everyone and there is still a small chance you won't win. At that point I feel a quick and easy combo kill would have been much better and way less time wasting for you and your opponents that just sit there watching.
I think Mitch forgot he could use black cards halfway through the deck tech 😂
Harmonic Prodigy sounds pretty good
Another good upgrade option for about $1 is Trailblazer's Boots.. everyone but the most budget mono-color players runs nonbasic lands, so another way to be unblockable.
huh... I am almost tempted to build this as an alternative to my existing Yidris deck... currently a weird and wonderful mishmash of everything from big mana bombs, to copying loads of stuff, to wheels, to most of the value engines that you mentioned here - probably not as strong as a deck like this that focuses on one theme, but on the other hand I very very rarely have a bad game with my Yidris deck because I dont care at all about doing well, I just care about doing something weird and fun...
You could also put in prowlers helm. I love that card

I had a Yidris spellslinger deck that I turned into a Niv-mizzet deck because the theme was just stronger
Storming out was also just not very fun for my playgroup to watch me do...
For those of you who want to take this deck higher up the shenanigans, Maelstrom Wanderer is a HOUSE of a card, take out the counterspells, add The Great Aurora for value. I've played this deck since it's release and I love it.

Diminishing Returns is a trap D: Exiling cards from your library is a huge mistake unless you're comboing out (Thassa's Oracle and Demonic Consultation, for example)

I really abuse the CMC of Delve and Split Cards to have a more control feel. Also it keeps it less about Storm which not everyone likes. This would work for an Initial build, but was hoping for a more permanent design of not being a trick deck. It is easier to build, I will grant that.
Mizzix's Mastery and Past In Flames really are my main selling points. But that does hurt the budget.
Thank you for the idea of split cards! I have been wracking my brain for ideas for this commander. It is the last color combo I need and did not want to make it just "cascade tribal" which I find really uninspiring. Now I think I'll have my favorite split cards, adventures, and about 20 creatures with "...number of instant and sorcery cards in your graveyard" style affects for a unique twist on Spellslinger and tool-boxie combat trickets.

maybe im too greedy but i dont like including many low cmc ramp spells in my yidris deck. i much prefer keeping cards i want to cascade into in the low part of my curve because those are the cards im going to be cascading into most often
Aren't copies such as storm effects not counted as casts? Why not just go the full copy route with replacing cards that have "when instant or sorcery is cast," to add more copy targets?

I wish Yidris had 1 or 2 power and flying, instead of 5 power and trample. That way my opponents would be way more willingly taking hits and I could use his effects more often.

I love Yidris! Suggestion; I've been looking all around for a Tymna/Vial Smasher deck tech. Cant seem to find a good one. Would love to see you try out a brew for them, Mitch! Much love!

So I got this deck for a secret Santa thing with my friends. I'm not sure how it wins because we played for nearly 3 hours and all it did was draw cards and wheel
issues I have with commanders like Yidris is that they often become a "lynchpin" commander as someone coined a term for on reddit once. A lynchpin is when if your commander isnt on the battlefield, then the deck just falls completely apart. And I dont think a strategy that rides on one single card to work is a good one.

Hey Mitch, just a little constructive criticism. I noticed you use voice samples for things like the reminder for TCG player optimization. Those voice samples sound a bit out of date. You're mic quality and confidence in your voice has increased pretty drastically, and I think re-recording those voice samples you use would just make the videos overall smoother. Great deck tech as always, though 😃
