#TheBeatles #ADayInTheLife #JohnLennon #PaulMcCartney #GeorgeHarrison #RingoStarr - Hudba
Another fun fact: This is 2 songs melded together. Paul wrote the middle part (woke up,fell out of bed) and John the rest. Both songs were incomplete and both artists had no idea how to finish them. So they put them together and created one of the greatest songs ever.
Tnx. I didn't know that. The McCartney part was shitty though. He should not have messed with it. Another Lennon song stolen by McCartney and credited to Lennon-McCartney like "In my life".
The transition from the Paul segment back to the John song is so utterly sublime that to omit it would deprive the song of a great deal of its beauty and power. The two segments work together magically.
John used to lease Maccas ideas a lot. This Maccas part he used in his "Remember" 1970.
+Norma Stitz
The part of running for a bus, comes from Paul's experience of running for the 82 bus to get to school on time and later the 86 when he moved house. The 82 bus still runs the same route today. The 82 bus was where Paul and George met going to school together every day. That bus was the _root_ of the formation of The Beatles.
Thought that was obvious
my dad used to play the beatles while he makes breakfast for us before we go to school..so this background music is on while i tie my shoes put on my uniform and go wait for the school bus and now I'm old and he's gone and everytime i play the beatles I'm back to those mornings.
Grace wow ☺
Your comment got me tearful.
Grace I'm sorry for your loss and that's a sad but at the same time a beautiful story
I'm very sorry for your loss Grace, but The Beatles bring joy to everyone who listens to them.
Sorry for your loss. Keep on Rockin!!
Nearly 60 years on and it's still a revelation.

This song is one of Ringo’s best performances, his fills are just excellent.
Ringo is king on this song
This song feels like the end-credits for life.
Funny you should say that - this was played at a funeral I attended, just surreal and so weird!
SO TRUE
Yes, Paul’s death November 9, 1966. And replacement with Billy Shepherd aka Billy Shears. Ringo sings Billy Shears.

RIngo's drumming here is simply outstanding.
He was often overlooked as a musician. He is still relevant, doing what he loves. He is thunderous on the drums in this song
Right on. And on Strawberry Fields, and Dear Prudence, etc. Tied for first with Ginger Baker,
How do you know it’s Ringo on drums? I hope it is but I know Paul sat in from time to time.
@@oompaloompadoompa-de-doo3614 The record of all beatles' songs were registered with any single musician that participated on them. It is totally prooved that Ringo played the drums here. Even there was a comment made by Phil Collins saying that he respected Ringo because of what he did in A Day In The Life.
Luis Gutiérrez oh thank you. That makes me happy. Do you know if he played on “tomorrow never knows?” I’d never heard a beat like that before. Chemical brothers have used it a time or two more recently.

Indeed.
That transition from, “and somebody spoke and I went into a dream,” into John’s “aaaahhhh” and the tempo change never fails to give me chills.
One of the greatest moments in the history of music
Sorry, that's PAUL doing the "aaaah" - I could give you a whole LOT of evidence, but just watch THIS official video:
Which Beatle is shown during this part, from 2:49?
That's right, only Paul, that's because this is still his part, and it's his voice.
@@gutgolf74 meh I’ve heard this is a point of dispute but I’m still pretty convinced it’s John. None of the evidence out there has convinced me otherwise.
@@potato-whiz
Well, there are still people not convinced that the earth is round and Trump is a crook and a dangerous person...
While in both cases the evidence is even bigger than this one, you can rest assured: It's literally impossible to be John.
Why it shouldn't be John:
It's Paul's part, end of story. No need for John to sing lead on Paul's part in Paul's dream.
That's also why we only see PAUL during this part in the official video to ADITL. No John AT ALL - but he returns right when HIS part, the last verse, starts.
They were finished recording John's vocals for ADITL 2 weeks before and just returned for recording Paul's part on February 3rd. John NEVER sang this part when he had the chance to.
Also, note the position of the voices in the stereo-picture: John is on the right, Paul on the left. The "aaahs" start on Paul's side and move over to cue John's return.
Why it couldn't be John:
Since -- in contrast to Emerick's fairy-tale - there is absolutely no cut between the "dream" and the "aaah", it must be still the same lead singer, Paul. You can even hear him take a breath between the "dream" and the "aaah" on the isolated vocal track.
Since John is doing his trademark NASAL high falsetto in the background AT THE SAME TIME it's impossible for him to also do the lead aaah.
Also, the lead aaah doesn't sound like John AT ALL.
It's a chest voice that would have been too high for him to do. Please name a single example where John sings like that - I bet you can't! Note how the example of "Mother" from this video is a FALSETTO part!! That's only proving it's Paul doing the "aah".
With Paul you only have to go as far as "Lovely Rita" to find a very similar example.
There are many experts who very thoroughly listened to all the actual reels and went through all the paperwork and wrote very highly praised books, like Kevin Ryan and Brian Kehew (from the book "Recording the Beatles", p. 444): "Though many have understandably attributed this vocal to John Lennon in the past, isolation of the vocal reveals it to be Paul. As the part progresses, his voice takes on a more nasal tone; this, in combination with an application of Repeat Echo similar to that already applied to John's, does much to give an impression of it being Lennon."
Or John C. Winn, who actually pointed out all the little differences between every single mix every made of any Beatles song: (from the book "That magic feeling - The Beatles' recorded legacy, p. 86): "Paul then corrected his vocal blunder by taping a new vocal on track 2, also adding some soaring "aahs" over the circle-of-fifths segment that linked back to the final verse".
And of course Sam Okell, who did the freaking Sgt. Pepper's REMIX: "Paul's main vocal track is in stereo, because we gave it some spread with the Waves S1 Stereo Imaging plug-in, so it has a different sound than John's lead. We also split off two little bits to be able to pan them left and right. His fourth vocal track is the 'aaah' section, and below it is an 'Aah delay' aux track." "Inside Sgt. Pepper's": Sound On Sound. SOS Publications Group. 26 October 2021

I have to give credit to the person who put this video together. He chose the right shots and timed them with the right gestures, facial expressions, and color. It comes together in a surreal way by blending classical music with psychedelia into some carnival imagery and setting. Basically, a psychopomp dream ceremony where classical musicians reveal their innermost innermost. It's also a great who's who of the pop world.
Whoever shot and edited this promo was a genius who was on some great gear at the time 👍
This is not a song that needs a video (you're thinking 1980's to now). I find the video RUINS the song. This isn't something TO BE SEEN, this is something to LISTEN TO. As it was intended and as it was originally experienced. I find the vid ridiculous.

One of the greatest songs ever created in music history.
When I was 10, my dad gave me all of their albums. I'd listen to them one by one top to bottom everyday after school. I could hear the CD spinning on my old RCA player. I'd close my eyes and separate the instruments in my mind. Today I'm a musician and sound engineer. I have listened to those songs enough that I could sing all the lyrics without knowing a single word of English, so I don't need to play them back. I only do when I reach an important milestone in my life - never on purpose. I just find my way back to them instinctively :)
The Beatles were musical aliens. I grew up with their music my Mom would take me to buy their new LP’s when they were released. I too got into playing guitar and learned all their songs. Theirs not a day that goes by that I don’t listen to The Beatles their music never grows old but we do.The best band ever I cannot imagine the world without the Beatles!
Ringo's drumming in this song is like a second vocal - off the charts.
Ringo doesn't always play drums on records. this one i am not sure but knowing that, you have to question every track.
He absolutely played the drums here. Phil Collins talks about how impossible it is to replicate much of Ringo's later playing, but especially here on the Sgt. Pepper. My father was a percussionist who played with the Chicago Symphony and NY Phil and taught Charlie Watts, etc. He bought me this album when I was 9 and said that Ringo's playing was perfect throughout the album, especially on this song. Ringo is way underrated. Ringo attributes his uniqueness to the fact that he was left handed (like my father) but played on a right handed kit. He was always slightly late on certain fills, which is what no one can replicate. But he had great rhythm and timing, and was very creative in his own approach, as were all the Beatles.
The One Man Boy Band the only time Ringo didn't play drums was when the song didn't need drums or when he left the band
The way he brings the drums in is genius
he really is overwhelmingly underrated
Ringo's drumming on this was absolutely amazing!!!!!
isn't it just.
I came here to write the same thing, those fills, so simple yet so magnificent. The musicality of his playing was very apparent here.

I can’t describe this song. Its, just, a masterpiece.
Yes
You just described it 👍
@@sherbertdip6924 lmao
I can describe to in one way and it's this. The song is better than Mozart, Bach and Beethoven. The Beatles.Wow.
We're a bunch like that buddy 😄😊👋💫😇
over 60 years, and still the greatest.
I love this song.
God bless whoever reading this comment. Peace, love and happiness always
✌
This might be the Beatles peak. Johns vocals are simply out of this world!
It is the peak. Along with Strawberry Fields single.
Here before that "gutgolf" guy spends even more time just trying to prove that those are Paul's vocals in the interlude
supernaturally haunting vocals
John singing the first line gives me chills everytime. This song is absolutely breathtaking.
The best song on the best album from the best artists of the 20th century.
Best band
Fantastic album but I think they topped it with Abbey Road (the medley to end all medleys)
@@gerardmackay8909 lo colonaron con White album.
This was an absolute masterpiece. I had the original Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band record in 1967 when I was 16. I played it endlessly.
Same time and same regular enjoyment of... The cool thing was if you put the album on stereo speakers John's voice moved around from verse to verse, giving an ever more eerie feeling ..and that alarm clock right before Paul sings "Woke up ..fell outta bed" ..was just too cool ..shame this extra element that The Beatles and George Martin added to one of the greatest songs in history doesn't come across in most played versions. First time I heard the song was on our car radio ..the reaction: "..what...?"
Me too, I got that from my 30th birthday 😊
I was 18 and did the same. The music of your youth is always the best, it just reminds you of the good and bad times. I have the original LP I bought back then and the first ones were mono ,which I think was better.
I was the same age 16 still remember everything I did that day !
Ever since I was 13 I've considered the 'Aaaah' from 2:48 to 3:18 the most beautiful fragment of music ever written.
i m OK with you
+ixlnxs Beautiful, yes, and in my mind also haunting. It always gives me the chills ever time I hear that segment of this song.
+ixlnxs Me too! It's majestic. Soul stirring. Beatles creative genius. And Deep Purple nicked it for Hush.
+ixlnxs Listen to Paul play the bass, it took me a while to get it, but once you do, it is the funnest bassline to play, at least in my opinion. XD
+ixlnxs is it john or george singing Aaaaaaaaah, i can't tell?
I absolutely love the psychedelic era of Beatles songs - Strawberry Fields, A day in the Life, Lovey Rita, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds etc. They just resonate with me on another level. I'm a child of the 60's and The Beatles were everything to me. Still are.
i grew up through the 60s. it was the decade that gave us the music that followed!
Within Without You
Strawberry fields telling us about the horrific future of the slaying of over 2 million Cambodians 😢
Amazing they were in a pop boy band in the beginning and made great songs, then they go to this and healter skelter. Greatest ever!!
Strawberry Fields is my favorite Beatles song!
ICONS FOREVER AND EVER 🇺🇲🥂😱
Listening to the Beatles is such a timeless experience, they were an amazing band
Yes John’s vocals are amazing
Yes Paul’s little bit in between’s beautiful
Let’s appreciate Ringo’s drumming
and george
@@ac-jj1zz yep George did a great job
@@ac-jj1zz George only played the maracas on this song
Oh my word. Why does it still sound so new?
Because in 2017 it is still ahead of its time.
^beautifully put
Powertuber1000 John and Paul are genius
Beatles is timeless.
James Williams
Honestly, it sounds so 60s
I think this song, out of all the others made by these four, is probably their greatest song. Besides stuff like In My Life, Something, Across The Universe and Let It Be, this is probably them at their best.
Absolute perfection.
Wow - still sends shivers up my spine hearing this. So brilliant and its 50 years old today. Listen to BBC Radio 5 Live Friday at 9.30 pm to hear about it. My friend Tristan played percussion on it. I started working at EMI studios two years after this was recorded. Good times. xx
Tristan Fry?
Yes, apparently it was that Tristan. :-)
Im glad to have found this new band appropriately placed in the "fresh music" tab of my feed. Hope they go places
Please tell me you're not serious.
+epikninja123 Sorry my sarcasm mustve been too complex. The "appropriately" part was supposed to give it away.
It's kinda hard to tell sarcasm when it's written as there's no emotion in the words.
+epikninja123 Tru that
Lol
No other drummer could recreate this masterpiece better than ringo. Just magestical
The transition to Paul's voice.... man this song is perfection at its finest ❤
This is one of the songs that tells the world how great Ringo was as a drummer his drumming her is incredible
Agree 100%
I've listened to this song so many times and I never thought to listen to the drums specifically. They fit in the song so well. Thanks for pointing this out
Not only what he plays but the drum sound is rather wonderful 😂👌
Just like tomorrow never knows and carry that Weight
Ringo does love showing off in the last songs of the best albums
Ringo was a banging drummer ❤😅

The Beatles will never be forgotten they are here to stay FOREVER
this song is true art of music. pure gold. greatest band of all time
How did they go from Love Me Do to this in less than five years.... simply awesome
beatlefan1964 that's why I consider them the greatest. Ever.
beatlefan1964 psychedelics
mind expansion due to using psychedelics.
L.S.D.
Psychedelic drugs...lol! Same thing happened to all the 60's bands......
The Beatles are simply The Greatest of all Time. It's almost hard to comprehend just how incredibly talented they were.
Imagine if they were still together until the beginning of the 21st century :/
Richard Scally Pink Floyd
Quincy Jones said they were very untalented on their instruments
@@rainbowbridge4766 ur pinky Floyd ain't invited here I know he's great but there's a lot of bands who's better than him
@Joseph Sokoloski Yeah!! Didn't he actually declare this to the crowd at Glastonbury? It Beggars Belief. I believe he's now on Medication.
I was about 10 years old, my brother and a friend were on the sidewalk (here in Santo André Brazil) with a record player listening to records and this album appeared, I spent a lot of time looking at the cover and singing the lyrics, it was something different from anything else that existed, this album influenced an entire generation, musicians, bands and it still continues to do so, like now that I saw this video again
😊
An Awesome life in those days. Four amazing musicians that grew together within the mystery of their magic. Writing songs that shocked the world. And all the memories of words recited are still sung in our heart today. Long live the fabulous Beatles.
This will forever be my favourite Beatles song.
This and Happiness Is A Warm Gun, for me :-)
why doe

A moment of silence for the lost of John Lennon 43 years ago today. He will never be forgotten, so heartbroken 💔
Another absolute classic from the beatles. No other band has produced such an array of musical styles.
My HERO Ringo, yet again adds just enough, highlights when needed, but NEVER, EVER tries to hog the limelight. Many drummers could learn many a lesson from SIR RICHARD STARKEY !!
You hit the nail right on the head.
