The Beatles - Hey Jude

- The Beatles performing “Hey Jude.”
Hey Jude topped the charts in Britain for two weeks and for 9 weeks in America, where it became The Beatles longest-running No.1 in the US singles chart as well as the single with the longest running time.
The Beatles did not record their promotional film until Hey Jude had been on sale in America for a week. They returned to Twickenham Film Studio, using director Michael Lindsay-Hogg who had worked with them on Paperback Writer and Rain. Earlier still, Lindsay-Hogg had directed episodes of Ready Steady Go! And a few months after the film for Hey Jude he made The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus TV special that featured John and Yoko but wouldn’t be shown until 1996
To help with the filming an audience of around 300 local people, as well as some of the fans that gathered regularly outside Abbey Road Studios were brought in for the song’s finale. Their presence had an unlikely upside for The Beatles in their long-running saga with the Musicians’ Union in that the MU were fooled into believing the band were playing live, when in fact they were miming for the vast majority of the song. Paul, however, sang live throughout the song.
The video was first broadcast on David Frost’s Frost On Sunday show, four days after it was filmed. At that point transmission was in black and white although the promo was originally shot in colour. It was first aired in America a month later on 6 October 1968, on The Smotheres Brothers Comedy Hour.

When I'm 64... Well, now I am. Been listening to The Beatles since I was a little kid, thanks to my older brother (RIP Joe). I remember crying as a 10 year old when I heard the band broke up, my mom consoling me, telling me that they would make music forever, and of course, their influence is still going strong.
On occasion, I watch this video, and start tearing up about halfway through, and I'm balling when they get to the 'na, na, nas...' How did four guys have so much influence on me, the world, and how so many of us think and feel? Watching this is both incredibly wonderful and sad at the same time, reminding me of the beauty of their music, but also of the challenges we now face as a people.
Ultimately, however, I'll keep smiling, as long as I have these songs to warm my heart :)
💜
Did you listen to the newest Beatles song, "Now and Then," which was released in November last year? It shows even after 60 years, the Beatles are still popular and making amazing music. 👏🏻😃

@@CrestedSaguaro520 Absolutely! I own most of the Beatles albums on CD (remember, I'm old, lol), and I purchased the blue hits collection that was re-released with extra songs, just so I could have 'Now & Then'. It's impossible to have the same fervor for life that they had back then because it doesn't exist anymore back then they had hope for the future and everyone had a god of some form inside themselves nowadays we've sold the collective soul of humanity for profit we don't have hope or God. The world is becoming a worse place by every passing day so the art that cones out today is going to be filled with resentment and hostility leading to an abuse cycle where we mirror the art and the world around us. The fact that Paul wrote this for John's son Julian makes it even more special
3:40 Makes you wonder why John joined in singing this song.
@@silverpslm John actually believed that this song is about him and Yoko.
From Wikipedia:
In a 1980 interview, Lennon stated that he "always heard it as a song to me" and contended that, on one level, McCartney was giving his blessing to Lennon and Ono's relationship, while, on another, he was disappointed to be usurped as Lennon's friend and creative partner.
Yeah, John was going through a divorce with Julian's mother, he was a sad kid....so Paul wrote this.

I stopped in a coffee shop to get some Jo and gather myself before I went before the man. There were a smattering of customers about mostly single, unremarkable folk. It was raining which happened to be the first good rain wed seen in the region in sometime. Honestly, I was a bit lost looking for the beginning of the next chapter of my life. Then this song came on and I began to softly sing it to myself as a self soothing attempt of which id become quite adept at over the last 5 years. Then a single older lady a few tables away joined in. Then a man sitting on a live seat then another and another. Nobody was trying to hard. It was sublime. I left after I was done and we all exchanged smiles, nods and waves. I nailed the interview and got the job. Sir Paul is an extraordinary talent. 2:46 -Paul: Sing your part John, it´s a duo here.
-John: uh? Really?
3:37 and then Paul looks at John again but realize this time he's actually singing and smile lmao
Brahian Cardona Herrera it wasn’t a good smile. He was smiling because it’s a joke that John needed to be reminded of when to sing.
chango vato He was not.
Omar López That’s not the only time he looks at John. He does it at least three other times.
@@barbaranelson8617 yes, Indeed, The next time John have to sing in duo, he does it correctly and Pauls laughs

Tell your children there was a time when giants walked the Earth.
And their footsteps could be heard on Abbey Road.
I'd be honored if some Beatles fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of PENNY LANE and BLACKBIRD on my YT channel in tribute to the Fab Four and the vocals of Paul McCartney. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and RESPECT to the legends.
