A lot of these clips seriously look like they were filmed today. Not just the video quality, but there’s something about the cinematography that feels distinctly modern.

Sometimes I feel really weird when I realise this clip was filmed 50 years ago. Now world completely changed, but this song is still feel actual.
For those of you who didn't live through the 60's, NO other band caused the level of anticipation The Beatles caused before the release of every single and album they created. Each record was more creative and innovative than the last. They NEVER repeated themselves. Each song was unique and special in it's own way. They were truly the greatest musical phenomenon of the 20th century. They are timeless.

I lived the 50’s and 60’s. The Beatles changed our music. In the early 60’s we were listening to Motown music and Idol music. It was fun music until the Beatles came to the U.S, In Feb 64.

When I was younger I didn,t understand the lyrics. Living is easy with eyes closed. Now I'm older they make sense. I think Lennon means it's easy to live if you turn a blind eye and turn away from all the injustice and cruelty in the world. Pure genius
I didn't understand the lyrics either. I was introduced to this music when I was like 5 years old. And I loved it then. And now I still love it and as well can have even a better appreciation. They were not just musicians but modern day poets in a sense. Genius poets.. agreed.
His tone is almost resigned when delivering it, as though an aside.
But that is unfair. Living blind to all the pain that surround us is not the right thing.
I think its more a reference to ignorance. Great line though
i dont think its just about injustice and cruelty on the grand scale. i think its just about life in general. life is easier when you close yourself in and coast through in "blissful ignorance" of life and its hardships, of saying nothing matters to avoid "something to get hung about"

“And nothing to get hung about”
When John Lennon was young he and his mates would climb the trees and walls at Strawberry Fields. His Aunt Mimi would yell at him to stop and say:
“Stop John you’ll get hanged!”
And John would answer “there’s nothing to get hung about!”
I learnt this on the Magical Mystery Tour today

There are different stories. Another official story is that Mimi would get mad at John for playing in the grounds of Strawberry Field, to which he would reply: “They can’t hang you for it”. I was in NYC in Dec 2000, on the 20th anniversary of John's murder, because my sister was there, dying of breast cancer. I was in her hospital room that afternoon, when it came on the tv that there was to be a huge celebration. She & I were 2 of the little kids in Feb 1964 who sat in front of the tv to see The Beatles on Ed Sullivan. The first concert we ever went to was The Beatles, in Memphis, August 19, 1966, four days before her 13th birthday. I was 9. In 2000, she was in and out of consciousness, the cancer had spread to her brain, but when she heard 'Strawberry Fields' and that people were gathering to honor John, she bolted up in her bed and ordered me to go. I didn't want to leave her, I knew she was very close to death. But, big sisters, you know... I went to Strawberry Fields in Central Park and it was amazing. How is it this was filmed 57 years ago and looks better than pretty much every single video produced in the 90's and early 2000's!
The thing is that in the 90's, early 2000's compact digital cameras appeared. People shot on them, and the quality could be noticeably worse than natural film. Well, it's understandable that digital amateur cameras had just appeared. In general, video recording became more accessible thanks to these cameras. (I could be wrong about something. But that's the way I see it.)
@@slivas4595 The problem goes back maybe two decades before (3 in reality but 2 based on mass use) was video and terrestrial broadcast. It's a lot cheaper to film for terrestrial TV using VHS type output compared to 35mm, and when your audience is regular television it's fine. A lot of music videos are shot on a budget.
It's fine on the medium intended but as we now know does not transfer at all to anything else with any fidelity. You cannot get quality if it was never captured in the first place, and all these upscaling options to me look freaky.

John Lennon song
The Beatles were so ahead of their time.
But why bro ?
I think it's less that they were ahead of their time, and more that they defined everything that came after.
@@giovinis There music was always breaking new ground, despite their overwhelming success, they were never satisfied just to turn out another song just like the last one Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane on the same single both could have topped the charts on their own... And both so different.... Before the Beatles were famous they refused to perform in theaters (in the USA) That were segregated with seats for black and white insisting that anyone could sit where they like or they would not perform ... The Beatles never just took the easy option and were not afraid to stand up for their principles... John in particular was always outspoken ....
Let’s call it timeless
Who are the Beatles?
How can we not love these blessed, incredibly talented, charismatic, creative, transformative guys, etc, etc, etc, providing us with incredible, unforgettable music and sometimes with new guises. It's already been 60 years of success, and its legacy passes from generation to generation!
Thank God, my 68 years allowed me to follow this evolution, with renewed excitement! And may it continue like this!!! I LOVE!!!!
I mean, The Beatles. If you’ve studied them for even a short while, you’d be overwhelmed at the depth and quality of their work. Sheer A grade sonic art. It’s timeless. And the progression of the band is fantastic. From the early music, the Little Richard and Chuck Berry influences, even Buddy Holly, superb melodies and lyrics. And if you were lucky enough to see them live, they were musically very tight and always in tune. Fantastic musicians. And they influenced a generation who wanted to look like them and live like them. They brought light to the world ❤
I hope my electricity bill isn’t high this month

riceboll. yeah, sketchy sorta guy put it in.
I mean, it must be high or low
Some people say Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in The Beatles. Listen to this fine piece of art. Ringo plays with magic wands.
I'm biased cuz I'm a drummer but you got it 100% holmes! I mean just his first two fills... 0:12 - 0:21 subtle genius
*Expecto Starr-tronus!* :D
I was just thinking the exact same whilst listening
Yes. Ringo was perfect for the Beatles. A true Beatle. And In this song it is sublime. In others too.
This sentence about Ringo is a myth, if I'm not mistaken.
I've recently listened to this song for the first time and it is awesome in addition to being totaly out of this world.
This looks like it was recorded yesterday. So trippy. So unreal. So Beatles.
Car driving past: 'What's that?'
'It's a piano tied to a tree and the Beatles jumping around like rabbits'
right then , carry on now we have our train soon .
Just a normal day in England
And they're pouring brightly colored paint on the piano.
Ok, I need a drink.
😎
A normal day for The Beatles.
Those silly boys are at it again with their LSD!

One time my cousin who was about 10 was given strawberries and whipped cream and she started singing "Strawberry Fields Forever" and I freaked out, I said who taught you that and she said "Uncle Pat". I was so relieved. A true masterpiece.
Aw, so cute! 💕
This, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and A Day In The Life are all insane. These songs deserve its own league honestly
John: "no one I think is in my tree"
* *Paul literally above the tree* *
That's because Paul was dead in 1966 lol
@@anuragdeshpande6918 oh shush no he's not
@@kaymay4205 lol
@@anuragdeshpande6918 Also notice how they zoom into pauls face when Lennon says Nothing is real... in fact now that I think of it every time you hear nothing is real paul is either the centre of the shot or somewhere in the shot. Lmao
@@malcolmmacdonald9944 and the part where he says no one I think is in my tree. Paul just turns those knobs to change day to night. Lol
