- This match is an instant classic. Possibly the greatest flamethrower match we’ve ever had at NHRL. Calvin Iba’s crazy 3lb bot "Mixtape" melts Angel Vidal’s "Hurt Caboose" into a molten pile of electronics and plastic.
The sportsmanship at the end is what makes NHRL special. Angel offers Calvin a piece of his melted bot as a souvenir and promises to put "Hurt Caboose" on a shelf.

Singlehandedly wrecking the 3D Printed meta
More like melting the 3d printed meta
Deprinted back to plastic pellets where it came from.
Why dont they just put fire proof tape on the 3d printed stuff?
3d print with higher temp material. Shouldn't be using pla or abs for this.
@@_Cotton Kapton or aluminum tape would work, but not for long.
You have to admire the sportsman ship, even after watching your creation get turned into a plastic puddle, he smiled the whole way through and even offered them a souvenire
I'd say that watching your own stuff get wrecked is part of the fun in these competitions.
In the end it's all about the carnage!
This dude just made flamethrowers effective!!!! I am impressed.

I love Calvin’s evil smiles throughout this fight. Good sportsmanship all round still, good fight !
I still want to see project liftoff vs mixtape. See if the meltybrain will melt, maybe. That or the tank gets ruptured and calvin gets the fireball he's wanted all along
This, is a great idea.
that spinning speed would definitely slow down the rate of heat transfer in the plastic
I truly had no idea how cool these mini robot fights would actually be. As a battlebots fan you think bigger is better. But for every scale down is a massive scale up in speed. Wow
Also not every scale up is good for certain concept bots, such as Wrecks and its drive
The wheels spinning: Forget the weapons, I can still fight! I just can't... Grip the ground, don't tap me out, coach! I got this!
Just a flesh wound.
Honestly Hurt Caboose deserves credit for withstanding Mixtape's wrath for so long
Like with Anakin in ROTS, Hurt Caboose is kept alive by its hatred despite being cremated.
First time I've seen a flame weapon do anything of relevance. Super cool!
That's called good sportsmanship. You had no chance yet you fight to the end and leave the match with respect, and plenty of possibly-reusable plastic
“Oh, you can be make cheap and easily? How about I make it so you need to be replaced to be repaired?”
To be fair, also cheap to be replaced. :P
Just how big are Mixtape's tanks that he can keep a near-consistent flame for that long?
The majority of the design is just a butane tank
I am astounded the electronics kept working through all of that
You would think the pvc wire insulation would be one of the first things to go.
This is why we love Calvin. That and he’s gonna stick a crazy cat on you if you don’t like him. His boss is kinda crazy after all
A Mad Catter perhaps?
"It's like a melted action figure."
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
This pleases the Fire Penguin immensely 🐧 🔥
2:30 bro? that moan 💀💀💀
took me by surprise too hahaha
ikr
2:05 "No! Stop, please no! He's already dead!"
Hurt Caboose straight up looking like a wad of melted taffy.
That sportsmanship was EXCELLENT. Love the attitude of Hurt Caboose's operator.
some advice, put a pincer on the top so it can grab hold of the opponent and cook it. like complete control did in battlebots
AAAAAAAGH! LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME! I'M MELTING! I'M MEEEEEELTING! Oh, what a world! What a world!
Caboose just went head on to attack mixtape like an anime protagonist ❤🔥
Not what I was expecting when I heard the term "melty brain"
This gave me old school Command and Conquer vibes. Flame tanks are no joke!
Parents: Don't play with matches!!
Calvin: 3:38
Mixtape is 🔥!
"Tap out. Tap oooooouuut! It's already deeeeeaaad" 😭
That bot just got RUINED 😂 that guys a trooper for not tapping
2:30 why she make funny sound lol?
That's harsh! lol
Lessons were learned there!
This is first time i see dangerous flamethrower, guess its better in small size fights
the most consistent one I've seen was a bot called alchoholic stepfather: basically just a bog standard wedgebot configuration with a middling-power flamethrower that could actually stay fully functional for the whole match, the thing that set it apart is that it was an omniwheel bot that could keep up with all but the fastest of bots, combine that with a dam good driver and it would basically just kite the other bot usually managing 80+% uptime for keeping them inside the flamethrower, most of the time this cooks something important in the other bot and they win by knockout in under a minute and on the rare occasions where all that heat doesn't cause electronics to fail their opponent just spent the entire fight chasing them while under their primary weapon, most scoring systems are built around rewarding driving over destruction but that is still basically a guaranteed win on points.
no idea if it would be any good these days to be honest: the basic design plan of putting everything into the drive system so you can abuse having a ranged weapon that actually does something still makes sense (especially as a soft counter to forks since groundgame is a low concern for once) but bots are _way_ faster on average so the driving would need to be utterly insane to manage the kiting tactic even in the heavyweight divisions let alone for something smaller...can't actually remember what weight that thing was either, could be anywhere from 30 to 120 from what visuals I remember for sure.
imagine using tasers to emp your opponent, that would be either wouldn't work at all or be really effective and cool
That Was HOT!
I love mixtape
That is most fite in a fight i have ever seen!
I've never actually felt bad for a fighting robot before.
thank you from ian
Imagine if they replaced their battlebots minibot with mixtape lol
2:32 😂
Mmm... melted Hurt Caboose on toast... 😋
Something taking on that should be rated for a Venus landing xD
Oh no Mister Bill!
Is Mixtape actually stronger than Hotshot, Batmobile, and Flameout?
Also is oxygen + acetone allowed?
Mixtape is Fire
I can't even get my lighter to last a few minutes, how much fuel is in that thing
Ouch.
Hmmm.. Toastyy. 😉
2:30 why moan ?🤣
New pfp?
But... how did he get so much fire into such a small shape? I guess high pressure slow release? ... ... ... Like a bomb on wheels?
Check out This Is Havoc Episode 2 for a full feature on Calvin & Mixtape
The majority of space inside mixtape is taken up by a butane tank
2:29, the female presenter is having a moment to herself there
Okay, I was partially wrong: flamethrowers are useless for HEAVYWEIGHTS.
How the hell does it have so much fuel, like enough to keep a flame like that going for so long in such a small body
And that's why the house bots now have fire extinguishers.
2:30 …
"You want those connecters connected"
-1:10
Male announcer had to process that one for a few seconds.
yeah... thats a compoleat rebuild xD
Team hurt caboose has a lot to do now
Don't breathe the smoke
Flamethrowers are more entertaining here than in BattleBots.
The smaller scale of the bots might be a factor, so the heat of the flames could have an easier time cooking the internal wires and circuitboards. And also fewer bots using straight up half inch steel armor that protects those larger bots from flamethrowers, because at a smaller scale that high grade steel would weigh many bots down and slow them down
@@charityquill4965 Yeah, thx, I know. Didn't want to state the obvious and receive a "No shit".
We can salvage this
why did they not count it down as a knock out it was unable to move for a full minute
I think it was too much fun !
Team shreddit never taps out, no matter how badly damaged their bot is
@@dippyfresh1116 i didnt say tap out i said nock out when you cant move
It actually did get knocked out just before the bell.
Lol dudes robot is fucked and bro is like welp time to let him cook 😂
don't bring plastic to a sun fight
tf2 pyro class be like ...
I'm curious what that box with the face is for
That’s a house bot. If a bot gets stuck, the house bot will nudge the immobile robot until it’s freed
Thank you @@dippyfresh1116
Burnt Caboose
Mix tape "Slag"
3D printed battle bots are as useless as a screen door in a submarine.
Unless the league is split into Plastic and Metal, this sort of thing happens.
Plastic + weak weapons emphasizes skill and innovation (cheaply).
Metal and power brings in the damage.
That Cat whacking robot would be equally vulnerable despite having good skill and innovation.
imagine what this guy could build in a real battle bot setting, that flametrower is impressive considering the mass of the bot
He's actually on the Madcatter team and is their main driver 🙂
How does Mixtape hold so much fuel?
It uses a gigantic butane can
Beavis is proud.
2:30 2:33
What about water? Would that just win all these games
BPET from fusion filaments may help super high heat resistance
One day this show will be really cool for now it’s just fun if you’re not judgmental and can see the passion some have for it. As of now though it lacks structure some matches are just so boring and lame.
I was kind of expecting for Caboose to get stuck on Mixtape and melt all over it, disabling them both
That's cartoon logic
2:30 uhhhh
Bro the woman is so annoying she just says what others have already said
No u
@@thecomentingcat6280 wow very intellectual response thought real hard about that one didn’t you
@@badjames9273 Ah not intellectual enough? I see my good sir. Let me explain my point more eloquently. Her repeating the main ideas of the previous statements was barely noticeable. For me it enhanced the experience or at the very least didn't take away from it.
What *did* detract from the video was your meaningless nitpick on an otherwise exceptionally edited and entertaining short.
Because of all said things the source of annoyance is not the commentary, its your meanspirited criticism.
So, to sum it up, "No u".
Ah my Goodman now I see your point it is my opinion that we have differing senses I was not able to glean your full meaning from three simple letters but the expanded for has brought me a new belief I understand where you might believe I was making a fruitless attempt to be rude or foul on the contrary I meant my statement as criticism that can be built upon by the narrator for the next time she commentates I meant no harm although I am capable of imagining where one of lesser grey matter might take offense so in short I forgive you for all your transgressions and look foreword to positive discord with you in the future if you ever need anything know that I am always here for you
