i worked in a factory making forged flywheels roller rockers and alloy cylinder heads = CNC machining = fantastic !
Very cool!
Very nice process.
Very interesting how the New Hemi blocks are manufactured. 👍
Thanks for sharing the process.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent content, probably your best video yet
Wow, thanks!
Yes Yes Hemi blocks, greetings from The Netherlands
👆🏻
Fantastic Stuff !
Glad you enjoyed it!
The tooling change…. Holy cow
Yeah it’s impressive
NICE . but need 400 b block back and 360 block too. Thank you for sharing information ,well done.
Thankfully 360 blocks are still plentiful
In a perfect Mopar world all blocks would be available with upgrades 😎
You'd have to go to Indy for a aluminum low deck
YES! Low deck please
You can always check out junkyards that have school buses and motor homes,as a lot of motor homes had the 400 low deck
Thats a good looking block.
👍🏻
awesome video! what a thing of Mopar beauty 🙂
Couldn't agree more!
Fascinating products and machinery.
👍🏻
Just outstanding work.
Thank you! Cheers!
No wonder these blocks are so expensive, those cnc machines would be worth a fortune.
👍🏻
My first Hemi, 1957 Chrysler New Yorker in 1966 392
👍🏻
Very interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looking forward to the day I can build a 4.5x 3.75 9k screamer.
Heck yeah!
Great content , Looks like You are set up so You could produce a low deck version of that block with a revised program for the deck height . Also an Aluminum version could be possible . Please keep Us updated . Thank You & Best Wishes 🇺🇸 🇵🇷 🦊 👍
A cast aluminum version is planned in the future
Outstanding content! I had to mute the music though, it sounded like a 70's porn and an elevator had a baby.
Thanks for watching
Now that's an eclectic taste in porn.
Would love to buy a block and build a Hemi in my garage. It's certainly a shame that a modest 6-figure income isn't enough to get it done.
Oh it certainly is because I’m building one and don’t make 6 figures
@@moparconnection I'm thinking $30K when all is said and done. That's a huge commitment but good for you for taking this on.
Wow. Interesting. It makes you wonder, how you can make a car every 5 minutes, and how long this process took back in the day.
👍🏻
Actually they can't make a car every 5 minutes but they can put out a finished car every 5 minutes, with PRE-PAINTED PARTS and pre built engines. And it may be faster than that. If you look up the production figures for 1966 Mustang you will see some very large numbers, 607000 from 3 assembly plants.
@@thomasward4505 bad example there. Exactly when did they start machining 600k of engines
@@thomasward4505 I do as much machine work on my own stuff. I have a fn kwikway boring bar and a kwikway 090 hone and a bd cylinder head machine. At very best I can bore 1 block an hr. Plus setup. The machinery itself is only so fast. Baffles the mind those numbers.
Great video! Can’t believe the age of those CNCs. Guess this ain’t rocket surgery but it may be rocket family care 🤪😎
The Hellen CNCs were about 25 years old. Not too bad considering.
$7500 for a iron block ! No way !
I’m not sure where you’re looking for that price. Mancini has it listed for $1,500 less.
If you're buying a $7500 block that means you got a lot more into it and the block is protection. 800 HP is your everyday limit for a stock block, I'll put it this way...if you're making 800 HP why would you risk an entire engine possibly because a 45-60 year old block failed.
It is a lot but it's insurance really for the rest of the engine
How much is a factory stock block cost?
@@tlr-nut7275 hundreds
Bill Mitchell sells aluminum block for 7500 I believe and it weighs less than 140 lb
This may show how a block is machined, but it doesn’t show how the block is MADE!
Semantics
@@moparconnection - no, belong accurate is not semantic. If I had known that all you were showing was a big machine whirling around spraying lubricant for the various drills, I would have not wasted my time watching!
Thanks for watching!
Would loved to have seen the blocks being cast. How old are the castings when machined?
We weren’t allowed to visit the foundry but knew they were less than a day’s drive away. Shipments come in twice a month.
What's more precise? The table or the tooling?🎉
👍🏻
They need to forge gen 3 hemi blocks
They have billet CNC aluminum ones currently. More options for all engines are planned.
Why are they sticking with iron blocks instead of lighter aluminum cast blocks?
Fair question: iron sells and that’s what Mopar asked Energy to make. Thankfully, they do have cast aluminum coming.
You are all very ungrateful! I just purchased one from Mancini to build a 572 for a hot street class 4x4 pulling truck. We can not run a aluminum block and with a stock block my combination wouldn't be at all possible. This is advancement in the mopar world. I am very grateful to callies for there efforts...

@@moparconnection I seen some of it.
Thats why I am messing with y'all 😆
Hey how much for a Hemi block?😊
Mancini has them for $5900
Ditch that awful elevator music, I would rather hear the machines working.
Thanks for watching!
Please buy a gimble. I got motuon sickness watching
Thanks for watching!
Grey iron ?
Thats Mopar’s description verbatim
A ter for a certain kind of cast iron. Look it up.
@@The_DuMont_Network 6 yars in foundry and i did check
Are the "locally" cast blocks seasoned?
Same process for their Chevy blocks.
@@moparconnection aaaannnnd??????
Give them a call and find out! I wasn’t given a tour of the foundry.
Yes, all are covered in Johnny's seasoning salt.
🤣
Get that, everybody? "OP" is short for.....OPERATION.
You’d be surprised
Doesnt really matter. At almost 7k each they are not very affordable for the average mopar enthusiast. Maybe China or Taiwan will step up. Maybe 440 Source can also be HEMI source.
Mancini is selling them for far less.
@@moparconnection Unfortunately they do not. I just checked. Mancini must have raised their prices since you last checked.
Hate to have one of those blocks fall on me.
lol yeah they weight 314lbs when done
At that weight I hope they are twice as strong as the original which I believe is about 245 with caps @@moparconnection
Actually, they’re very close and remember a factory street 426 Hemi weighed 812lbs fully assembled. They were monsters!
TUFF LOOKIN BLOCK...EXPENSIVE...HALF PRICE OF A KEITH BLACK HEMI..
HMMMM
Gotta pay to play with the big boys
This boutique scaled build means GET IN LINE..EH..?
Slow...and a very low tech human effort...gauged inspdction seems minimal..but machines et al are Def OLD SCHOOL..
GOOD LUCK ...
👍🏻
Good work good try Needs lighting better camera work SORRY I Know you tries, Music noot good at all, Spray into lense no good need better camera views of the metal being removed TY AGAIN FOR this needs a redo with LED and under water or whatever camera is used on this envrovent Cheers :)
Thanks for watching!
We are now in the 21st Century. You are using an ELECTRONIC CAMERA. You are RECORDING on memory media. There is no film involved. Ergo you are NOT FILMING.
What do you call a music album?
IT'S SO SAD THAT 2023 WAS GOING TO BE THE LAST YEAR OF THE HEMI AND THE DIESELS AND MOPAR WAS SWITCHING TO SMALL DOUBLE TURBOCHARGED ENGINE'S AND ELECTRIC BOTH OF THESE SMALL ENGINES HAVE PROVEN TO BE PIECES OF JUNK TRYING TO SQUEEZE TOO MUCH HORSEPOWER OUT OF TOO SMALL OF AN ENGINE COMBINED WITH HUGE AMOUNTS OF POLLUTION DEVICES
DAVID ADAM GRENIS MAPLETON AVENUE BOULDER COLORADO
The Hurricane is a decent performer, but the reason was because of the massive penalties that the EPA was hitting FCA with.
Was das??
Sorry us trying to sell a T-shirt offended you so much.
Remember this is probably a very low output production assembly that sells maybe 1,000 per year so definitely not like a car manufacturer would have. They are remaking a 50-year-old engine! Maybe only a couple hundred per year come to think about it
I want a 440 hemi, just so I can be right😂😂😂
LOL you can!
