Hi! Thanks for video! Great as always! I have a Q - where in node set-up should I place my texture node (image) and RGB node (with ADD mode), in order to paint a stencil on object? Because I have two Principled BSDFs mixed together with mix shader (so I`m mixing two textures controlled by added noise texture and color ramp in FAC) and I cannot see any stencil on my 3D object as I try to paint.... please, help!
The tutorial helped me a lot brother🖐🏼😎
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much this really helped!
Glad it helped!

great video thanks
You are welcome!
Amazing tutorial. I was actually looking for a way to texture paint a stencil on top of another material already assigned to the model. Do you think that is possible ?
Maybe I will get there using brushes.
Thanks sir!!
You're welcome!
Thanks
thanks for your support!!
Thanks for the tutorial, is there a way to erase a part of a texture made with a stencil, with an eraser tool or something similar?
It does not seem to be working for me :( I've followed every step yet whenever I try to paint on my object nothing happens at all
same
ATT LEAASSTT!!! AT LEAST a GOOD image painting tutorial !! thankss.!!
Glad it was helpful!
thanks very much you are very best :-D
thanks for watching!
Cool thank you. I am wondering, can we both paint a diffuse and normals for said stencil. e.g.: a screw. ...?
yes you could make a new image and paint on it for other maps.
soooooooo helping
Thanx :]
glad it helped!
thanks, i always forget how to do this if i haven't done it for a while
Hi, can you do a tutorial showing step by step for accessing and putting textures onto a model? I downloaded a model from Sketchfab of the Nova Class Battlestar Galactica, [and a couple of others] but I can't figure out how to get the textures onto the model [unless there are none] I even tried the glTF method for some but I can't figure what I'm doing wrong.
Check out this video I made: czcams.com/video/V8ZRp3J64x8/video.html
How to Setup Texture Maps in Blender For Beginners (Tutorial)
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
is the possibility to add somehow a complex textures to an object? I have albedo, roughness, metalic from another model but i don`t know how to add/paint all the textures to my own model
TE AMO GRACIAS
thanks for watching : )
Hi bro, Thanks for the video Tutorial. I learned many things. I have a doubt. When i press hold CTL key + RMB and dragged, the stencil is not rotating ! can you pl guide me bro..
this was very helpful. Painting flat colors just doesn't give enough detail and variety. Just use an image texture and boom, you stole all that detail and saved time. thx!!!
Glad it was helpful! thanks for watching!
Awesome content! 🥇here is your medal
Thanks!!
Great tutorial. How does painting in Blender compared to Armorpaint and Quixel Mixer?
Not sure, I haven't used those other programs.
Is there no way to change the opacity of the stencil in front of the model to not see it as much while painting? or a keyboard shortcut to hide it?
What texture selection did you choose for the Rock 010 ambientCG I can't figure out which one to download? JPG? PNG? 8K-PNG? I also don't have a writing tablet just a mouse.
I used the 4K JPG version.
tyyy!
you're welcome!
thanks
you're welcome!
I have a problem where the stencil doesn't show in cylces but does in eevee. Any fix for this?
how do I put stickers on one of your Procedural Textures, specifically your Smooth Concrete texture?
Hmm, you might want to texture bake the procedural material, and then add the sticker to the color map. Or you could also add the sticker or icon onto the material using a mix RGB node.
top content.
thanks!
how do you spray paint an existing or imported texture directly onto a 3d model
I could really use some help if you don't mind. Is there a way to change the color of "stencils". To change the yellow and black into something else?
My problem a bit more specifically is using a pattern of white dots on a black background. I can only seem to change the color of the white dots, but not the black background. In my case I'm not trying to use it as a stencil, but more so as a brush. Any advice is appreciated.
I would just change the stencil color in a 2d program, before using it in Blender.
how do i get my stencil icon higher resolution? i used a 4k resolution one i made myself sharp edges but i used it as a brush and steps, is there an Anti-aliasing button i missed? or a resolution scaler for the stamps?
Make sure your using a high quality image, and a high resolution image to texture paint on.
Hey Ryan, great vid, as usual. I recently purchased your ultimate materials pack and I can highly recommend it. One quick question if I may: If I want to Texture Paint with one (or more) of your procedural materials, do I have to pre-bake it and then use a custom stencil brush like you did in this video? Or is there another way that I'm not aware of (sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm still pretty inexperienced with Blender). The results don't need to be super-realistic btw.
yes I think that's probably the best way to do it. Texture bake the color map, and then texture paint with the texture.
very helpful video. But how to texture pain on scaled texture. I have a rock object and already textured and scaled to 5, but when I texturepaint on it, it doesn't work.
could you please tell me how to mask between two object. I want to mask between two object as like after effect
Thank you too much
You're welcome!
Thank you so much, i was getting worried I couldnt both remesh well and add stickers to a project, this is perfect. Is there any way to center stickers?
Thanks! What do you mean by, center the stickers?
@@RyanKingArt im not sure if they meant this but can you align stickers? Lets say for example if you are working with a square, can you align your image to the center of the square?
Hi, I'm using your technic for adding some icons on my products but every texture images that I use with some black color appears to be transparent on my object when I do try to paint them, do you have any solution please ?
So currect me i i am wrong(i kinda dont know)so after you made your model you uv unwrapp it you go to shader editor then make a matrial after that in texture paint you paint it on model you save uv and export the model?
Yep 👍
excellent video, can't believe how lucky i was to click on it. thx for sharing, have fun, aum, s love nia
Thanks for watching!
saved me again.
glad it helped!
How would you add a normal map to this texture? Could tat be done? Great video by the way!
yes you could texture paint a normal or bump map. Maybe I can make a video on that sometime.
@@RyanKingArt That would be great. Thanks for the reply!
🔥🔥
Thank you!
Thank you sir I love you
I am from India
Very good sir ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Tutorial suggestion: how to use blender light path node
Thanks for the tutorial idea! 👍
thank god i found this
hope it helps!
Hey bro so I've been trying to move the image over on my object with shift right click or right click with the mouse it just doesn't move I don't know what the problem could you help me out
This is a good tutorial, but is there a way to stop the icon from getting stretched? It also doesn't allow me to texture paint, and there isn't any errors. Do you know a fix to these problems? Thanks in advance!
Hmm, I'm not sure. did you check to make sure you did all of the steps, like adding an image texture, UV unwrapping the mesh, and adding the stencil image? Also make sure the brush strength is turned up.
1 year later, but make sure under the stroke menu you don't have stabilize stroke enabled. gave me issues.
this is great! but sometimes the tattoo i am using to stencil onto my model is repeating itself! UV problem?
yeah I think that's a UV problem.
When I left click trying to paint it says Missing Textures, detected! but I did what you did.. Is there way to fix?
im very new to blender and this helped a lot, but i do have a small problem:
when i switch to any mode exept texture paint the texture is not visible on the object. it turns completely black. anyone know how to fix this?
Hmm, try going into material preview mode in the viewport to see the texture. also make sure the texture is plugged up to the base color of the material.
thank you for amazing video , but I have a problem when I open the icon image The picture shows me just black and the mesh pink.
Oh that's weird.
thanks for watching!
Question. How would you go about removing this if you mess up? I have a model I downloaded that comes with its own materials already applied. Was using this method to create tattoos. Looked great until I started posing the model, and realized I needed to move the stencils around. Not sure how to set this up correctly.
Hmm, once its painted into the texture, there isn't any easy way to remove it.
@@RyanKingArt, well thank you for at least replying! It's not often (if I ever) I get my questions answered. Just a thought: what if I duplicated the skin material (and made it its own instance) before I started and used that? That way if I mess up, I can delete the one skin and try again?
@@ForsythJC best way to find out is to try. and yes, i would do what you are asking - before any modifications, duplicate original material, rename it, and use that. have fun, aum
With quick editing textures i have my external 2d program's .exe set up i go through the steps after the
I have a problem if i want to draw it does nothing but if i use the bucket tool that works
can u paint a gravel road with that formula
For the stencil brush i did exactly the same as you in the video but for some reasons the result isnt in full opacity although besides of having the same settings as you in the video, i also had opacity on 100% and the result is still underwhelming, especially the quality of the image texture i want to add, which was a 1000x1000 png.
Do you maybe have any other solutions for this specific case?
Does texture paint create bump, normal and reflection map or should we add it seperate.
No it doesn't add the other texture maps. so if you want more you will need to paint them in.
@@RyanKingArt thanks.
hello, thanks for the tutorial. but now, how do i deal with the displacement map or bump map or both to paint it to me rock, again thanks
if theres a tutorial in your channel im not aware of please u can address it to me, each map or all of the maps bump, normal, disp, speculars, etc. thank u sir. more power to ur channel
or u can make another video about it if haven't been made, u can title it like "the most complete texture paint in blender u gonna ever need" lolz. ty
also dude, make a tutorial about osl and materialx in blender, now i can leave at peace now lolz
Finally, but, how do you "erase" a part of the painted stencil?
AWEEESSOOOOOOMEEEAH SUBBBBEDDDDAH GOOOOD WOOOOORK !!!!!!!
Thanks!
Ryan, thanks so much for that video, but it doesn't work for me. At 12'07 you didn't say what you did to make the texture appear in the main window, so I have my texture in the right panel but not on my object and hence I cannot paint the image... :-(
I have had loads of problems with this. I cannot seems to paint at all. managed to figure out my computer requires me to do alt+right mouse to move etc but it won’t actually let me place it on. Could you please help?
Sorry I'm not sure why its not working.
this helped a lot, but I can't see the new texture in rendered view with cycles but I can see it with evee. why is that?
Change your view to either the rendered mode, or the material preview, and then it should show up.
@@RyanKingArt yes it does show up in the material preview but not in the rendered
