- This video was very difficult for me to make... It's hard for me to be vulnerable on my CZcams channel and I still have my doubts about posting this video, but I also sincerely believe it's important to be honest about how you're feeling and, if nothing else, hopefully, this video can help encourage someone who might be bottling up their emotions to share them and see that they're not alone. Time heals all wounds, and even though it might feel hopeless now, we can take heart in knowing that it won't always be this way.

Please research why the term asperger's is bad, and why function labels aren't used.

Just as a heads up. Functioning labels and Aspergers are no longer used with in the autistic community.
Reasons:
Functioning labels are often used as a way for "professionals" to refuse support for "high functioning" individuals and disregard their everyday struggles. It basically is just an awful way of saying "you can mask your symptoms so we aren't gonna help you" it also means a lot of Non-verbal and Non-speaking individuals are treated like they are completely incompetent their whole lives when I reality they can actually be extremely intelligent they just dont communicate by speaking. Or in simple terms they basically mean "How well can you act and pretend to be Neurotypical so we dont have to deal with you?"
Aspergers was a Nazi scientist who "experimented" (tortured) autistic boys. We don't like him and refuse to be named after him. We are autistic and that's that.
I know I didnt need to do this but not everyone is gonna take the time to research and I'd rather people know then be ignorant for the rest of their lives and claim the community refused to teach them.

The DSM 5 criteria doesn't use the word Aspergers, it uses functioning levels 1-3, for social, and for repetitive behavior. DSM 5 is used in the US and other countries. ICD10 still uses "Aspergers" it's used in the UK

I can’t fathom the amount of effort it took to get so close to your goal, or the pain you felt after you heard you weren’t chosen. But I can fathom your honesty. I'm autistic, and I wanted to be a vet since I was 12. I did years of preparation, including work experience, and got 3 interviews at vet schools, with offers from 2. I went to uni, and managed to complete 2 years before my physical disabilities, neurodivergences, and chronic illnesses meant I had to leave. I was so lost, I didn't know what to do, I had been focused on reaching my goal for almost half my life at that point, and now it was obvious that it could never happen now. 2 years later, and I'm still trying to work out where I want to be now that one of my only certainties in life has gone

Ifeel you, only did one year and it still hurts me but in the end it wasn’t a good fit. I’m still in uni, hasn’t been going so well with my autism but what I’m studying now fits me better. Just wanted to let you know it’s ok if that childhood dream of a career doesn’t end up happening, there are more paths to take.
Ps: my dream career was also becoming a vet, childhood dream, everyone told me they saw me becoming a vet. I’m now studying to become an art conservator.
I wanted to be a vet too, but I’m allergic to all the animals, ended up becoming a hairdresser, and now I’m a psychotherapist.

As someone who has in the past eight months alone had their father died, being evicted from a home that I've lived in since I was 11 years old, have become homeless and still am, and having a whole bunch of "friends" stab me in the back and turn on me in my time of need just because they didn't want to "deal" with my pain, I can understand going through a whole bunch of pain and wanting to reach out and talk to people.... I am now drawing and doing projects just to help with the pain of everything, and I can tell you this

This man is incredible! I’m dyslexic and have crippling anxiety and have Undiagnosed ADHD. I struggle with self-worth and trusting people. I love your music and also saw you as a godly person who I could never reach but I see that your human and it makes you seem so relatable and comforting. I feel your pain Gabriel. I'm someone with high-functioning Aspergers and I've been dying to get to a space-faring futuristic life for about 15 years now (I'm almost 30 now). Not a single day goes by without feeling depressed and out of place and because of it I won't be alive here much longer. I need my advanced high-tech space-faring space exploration thriving life and the absence of it is killing me each year. I already struggle to go on from day to day life as I don't have much motivation left
The fact that you're able to show this vulnerability just shows how strong and brave you are. I hope you receive nothing but support and love during this time, and know that you are an incredible person.
There's something about us folks with Autism that can take us through horrible grief. I swear we're the definition of "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". Nothing stops us, not failure, not being peniless, not being physically broken...all it does is give us a new obsession, new tunnel vision.
Just as I have for years and years been trying and trying to become a pilot and now finally that is within reach after heartbreaking failure after heartbreaking failure, I'm so close and nothing will stop me! And nothing will stop you Gabriel. We were given a gift from our minds...nothing can ever take that from us.

I’ve been trying to live on my own for the first time in my own house. I’ve been struggling with my own autism, depression, and other mental or physical issues. I’ve been having a hard time pushing forward and not giving up when things don’t work out. I won’t give up. Not with the friendships I have supporting me. And I’m not giving up because neither are you! We will get through this. We will make our dreams real.

I just got out of a 10 month relationship where I was seemingly friendzoned for no reason, and I still don’t know why. We were fine just a week ago, I was making plans to come down to visit her (we were long distance). We had been planning a visit for the last 7 months, and all of a sudden, randomly a few days ago, she just lost interest in me and started acting weird. It’s been hard moving forward, and taking care of myself/my mental health has been incredibly hard. It feels like I lost a loved one, and their cause of death was unknown, so I just have to sit alone and wonder what happened. But this video motivated me so much! I can’t imagine the strength and energy it took, to get up, collect your thoughts, turn on your camera, press record, be extremely vulnerable, and upload this video. Let alone how difficult it was to even move forward after being rejected after you invested so much of your thoughts and time and energy into something, just to have all that not be enough...yet still being able to get up the next day and take care of your self and live on. I can’t imagine how hard that is. But seeing you smile, and be strong, and have grace and compassion still after all that pain, inspires me so much.
You are changing the world right now, even if you didn’t get to go to the moon yet, (emphasis on yet!) You are still positively impacting me and everyone else that watches your videos, and you especially helped me out today! Thank you so much, and you always have my love and support brother, tommorow when I go to the gym (which I just started going again yesterday after 2 years of not going) I’m dedicating my workout to you!

I really relate, and let me say that I appreciate your good attitude and perspective! In 2016, my opportunity for my lifelong dream was taken away. It devastated me more than I can express. The same circumstances brought my kids to a place of recovering from trauma and set them back in a lot of ways. That's where you come in. My daughter is your biggest fan. And during some really difficult times, you have brought joy, laughter, wonder, and inspiration to her. She wears her black gryphon t-shirt everywhere and gets so excited when you do a new video. Gabe as a person who's parents were diagnosed with cancer I know what it tells like to have everything in your world shatter but YOU helped me your song better and I few others especially your videos helped me to plant my feet on the ground and look f or the lining in the clouds because soon enough it was gonna get better
Honestly so proud of you for being so open about all of this.
I got an initial diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1 yesterday, along with a mild diagnosis of ADHD, and I found it hard to understand yesterday because I now see myself as a completely different person to who I was pre diagnosis, but I know that's who I have always been and am working through the diagnosis with my psychologist to come to a complete conclusion. I'm still working through the emotions and I know I will be for a while, but I will get there in the end.

I could say a lot of reassuring stuff but if I start doing that I am stuck writing everything down for an hour or more. But there is one thing I really want to put out there: being vulnerable is so strong and it earns my entire respect when somebody turns the inside out completely like you did here. Dude, you know your issue and you don't hide it at all. How is it not supposed to go upward after this utter honesty? You truly are awesome

It may still happen for you don't give up hope, and your dream is worthwhile and you're talented and smart, they would be lucky to have you, remember that, it's their loss! but build some new dreams, other things you can look forward to! And thank God that you are healthy and can do all these amazing things! We love you and are here for you!

To show him how someone can be so successful, so deeply perceptive, so emotionally pensive, and clearly so kind hearted, while also struggling with the differences autism brings, is invaluable. For him to hear someone other than me say "autism is not a disability", is a gift.
I know you can't stop thinking about the space dream now, and it may even still be a possibility... but remember you have already achieved so much, and inspired many. You've inspired me. Watching your videos gives me hope for my brother's future, and reminds me how beautiful honesty is.

I know the feeling of finally seeing what you were made for, and then as your just about to grab it, it is pulled away from you. It’s heartbreaking, numbing, and frustrating as heck. But, you are doing the best thing you can possibly do in this situation: you are allowing your feelings to be felt, and then acknowledging that this is not the end. Your dream is not dead but just not yet. I had to turn away from a dream I had just found in one year at college, and then that summer both my parents lost there jobs and needed help. I stuffed down my feelings to be there for my family (I’m the oldest in my family too). It took me almost two year later to allow myself to grieve, but then move forward in knowing the truth you have just spoken on this video. Since that time I have been seeing life through a different lens and I know that I can still eventually do what I’m meant to do. Some days are harder than others but I would rather know what I’m meant for and have to wait a little longer, than live my whole life never knowing who I’m meant to be. Thank you Gabe! Your content os awesome and I’m grateful to be apart of your subscriber family!

I'm so sorry for what happened, but we will never doubt you Gabe and will always be on your side. i know there will be some people doubting you but you can always push through it. you are a very strong person and ever since you made this YT channel you always have been pushing tough times.
