ADIDAS ADIZERO TAKUMI SEN 10 INITIAL REVIEW - FAST, LIGHT & EXCITING SHOE! - EDDBUD
An initial review of the latest Adidas running shoe the TAKUMI SEN 10.
I purchased this show with my own cash for around £150.
This one is super light, very nimble and perfect for racing lower distances for most and those all important speed sessions. Improved fit and grip for me, though the price is still on the high side for my liking at retail.

I've completed half-marathon distances in my beloved Sen 9's without any issues. Despite being marketed as a "5k/10k" shoe, the Sen 9 is more than capable of handling full marathons.
It's easy to forget that well before carbon plates, rods, and plush foams, people were running marathons for decades in the most basic shoes imaginable compared to today's standards. People nowadays are far too spoiled with these essentially, luxury shoes! 😂
One of the fastest half marathon times run this year was by an adidas athlete in the Sen
@@prid99 Well there you go. 🤓
Just 5 years ago, the Streakfly and Adios were flagship marathon shoes from Nike and Adidas. through brainwashing from brilliant marketing, they now have people feeling that if a shoe is not 40mm ,you can't possibly run a marathon(or half)in them. Any shoe is a marathon shoe. If a shoe like the takumi sen is a comfortable shoe for you,you should absolutely wear them in a marathon
@@nickatnite16 hard debate to get into with so many variables but thicker shoes are doing more for recovery and impact protection. Shin splints and foot injuries have decreased with the tech but upper leg injuries have increased due to the increased leverage. It’s the same in any industry as technology improves.
@@prid99no one is denying this, but to say this shoe and other shoes of its ilk are only good for 5k/10k and not marathon, that's false. You can run a marathon in sandals or barefoot.today, Some shoes have been designed(the "marathon super shoes") to help you with being more efficient(energy return, better transition to your next stride)and reduce leg fatigue ,that's not up fir debate. But to act as if a shoe with less than 40mm stack height and that's not billed as a "marathon shoe" can not be used in a marathon(and run well),that's just not true.look at the time Kimetto set in the Adios 2,now you can't possibly say a shoe like the Takumi (and other shoes built similarly) can't be worn today in a marathon when the Takumi is a better shoe.prior to the adios pro ,the adios was the marathon shoe,Takumi is a far superior shoe so you can run a marathon (and run a good marathon) in them
Ts8 is the most natural feeling shoe for me. Only shoe where all my running analysis is good. Also fastest shoe for speedwork and parkrun.
Ts10 looks like a good one and price isn't bad for the performance.
I couldn’t agree more about using the Sen for track work. My Sen 8’s shine in that role. I always look forward to the more laborious process of lacing them up because they make the interval work so rewarding
Lacing with cold hands even worse! 🤣👍🏼
Love my Adidas Taksumi Sen 9 for 5K/10k paces. I didn’t even know this was out and I love the Adidas range. Thankushun Edd 👍
Thanks for the thorough review Edd; excited for this one and will definitely be picking it up when price drops. Got some more miles left in a pair of 9s before then
Love my Sen 8's (another EddBud recommendation), when they wear out I'll deffo pick up a 9 or 10, really very little to complain about, one of my all-time faves.
I’m currently using the Sen 8 as my 5K to 10K race shoe. It’s fantastic! Light and grippy, I prefer it to the Vaporfly over the short distances.
Grip on the sen is always a winner
Great review Ed. Very in depth and basically spot on. Still the go to youtuber for reviews in 2024. Happy New Year by the way.
Appreciate it! 👍🏼👊
Great review, you're spot on with your comments on the TS8 & TS9 deals, looking at those recently and both those shoes are so good (had 3 pairs of 8's and a pair of 9's) I would go for another pair of those atm. Will no doubt try the 10 later in the year. Went out in my 9s today and they have nearly 500 miles in them and still feel great, but yes I know its time to retire them now 👍
Thanks Edd. Great stuff. Just picked up the Sen 8 because I had an Adidas gift card. Feeling like that was the right choice now.
Good choice!
Good review.
The Missus gifted me the Adios 8 for Christmas, and I still have some miles to put into the TS9. I will pick up the TS10 this Spryor Summer. I see no reason to stop using what, for me, is the greatest running shoe model of my lifetime.
✌🏽💙👟
I think you will like the 8 when you want even less underfoot!
Your son has impeccable taste! I picked up the Sen 8 for £80 last year. Great value although I’ve still only done 20k in them. 10k for an initial test that included a bonkers 5k PB in the middle, then one 10k race (and PB). Won’t be buying the Sen 10 this side of 2064 at that rate of wear!
Thankful heart got me through a stressful period of life many a time. Superb music
Love the channel Ed. The Sen 8 was too firm for me, and the only shoes that made my feet hurt post -run. Think I’ll pass on there
Still using my original puma deviate nitro elite. Love it for 5/10k races and occasional speed work. Thanks for this review might well go this way when the deviate need to retire.
What a shoe! Awesome, feels similar to the sen 8 but with a better sizing fit.. Definitely my top race shoe..
I've been racing for 35 years and I have to say the Sen 8 and 9 have to be my favorite road race flats of all time. Shockingly light even in my US size 13.
Looking forward to snagging some 10's.
They are a superb design and still have that race flat feel without the no cushion race flat feel. 🤣👍🏼
Love my sen9 for harder shorter training days. I’m up to 110ish miles and the upper has torn slightly but I’ll use them until they fall off my feet 😅
Great review as always, might wait until this time next year to grab the 10 when it’ll likely be on a good sale.
Yeah the sen is an honest shoe. No artificial bests in this one.
Another great review Edd! Starting off the year strong.
I was wondering what you use to clean your shoes? They always look next to new for these videos.
Reshoven8r and some good old scrubbing. 🤣👍🏼
It’s been awhile Ed, happy new year
Busy week. Glad it’s the weekend! 🥈
I was able to pick them up when they were launched here in Australia 1st week in Dec. Since then I have put some speed workouts and a couple of 5k races into them. The different lacing up of these shoes has become a pleasant ritual rather than a burden as some suggested to me. They are really fun to run in and if you can get them on a discount then they are a no-brainer buy (imo).
I always retighten laces etc so it’s no major issue. Best fit always takes a little time
I’m still using my 2 pairs of TS8’s, the 2nd which I was unable to pass up when I saw it quite discounted. I use them occasionally for speedwork but primarily for 5K/10K races. I may do a HM in them at some point, because I’m very light and petite and they are very comfortable to me. I do think they are the most beautiful, sleek shoes I own; a truly classic design. I’m glad I’m not missing out on anything significant in v9 and 10.
Yeah it’s a slight outsole improvement though I like the upper much more in this version.
It is without a doubt my best competition sneaker, which is why I already purchased this version 10 that arrived here in Brazil at the end of last year. With my Takumi Sen 9 I did 3 half marathons in 2023, with great results. I'm not a light runner, I weigh around 80 kg, but for me it's perfect for 21km, even though it's recommended for use in 5k and 10k. I haven't tested this version yet, but I hope to do so soon. Everything seems to be very close to versions 8 and 9, they will be perfect!
Very impressed so far with the sen 10.
Thanks Edd.
You are very welcome
lol just got the Sen 9 for Christmas... I guess by the time those wear out these will be on sale hopefully
Reminds me of the Endorphin speed 2, my favorite of all time
Love the sen 8. PR’d at half marathon in them
That’s the thing, this one is more versatile than many realise
Thanks Edd for this review - you convinced me to get the TS10 (never had them, only have the Pro3's) I did have to pick up a pair (in the UK as they aren't here in the US) in that lovely green color and literally just did a PR in a 10k.
I did some 400m reps yesterday in these and they really move!
Now just please do a review in the ASICS Metaspeed Edge Paris! - Thinking about those,
although I've heard they are similar to the Pro 3's. Though I'm 6'1", I have a shorter gate so heard the edge would be better - and already use the Superblasts. I just don't know if I can overcome that red color to buy them 😂!
Michal Caine : great actor. The Man who would be King was great!. Nolan movies, too. Caine can wrench out the most from even minor roles handed to him.
Yes always did his absolute best on roles.
A nice incremental update to Takumi Sen. I have 3 pairs of TS8 which I got with 50-60% discounts and they will probably last me until discounts for TS10 is available later in the year.
Same here-still working on 2 pairs of 8’s, the 2nd purchased discounted because I couldn’t pass them up. I’m relieved I’m not missing out on any major changes to give me FOMO.
Like from Spain. Another comparison: The takumi sen 10- Adizero adios 8, please. A nice weekend for everyone.
I like the Christmas lights on the shoe stands.
Managed to fix them after the cat mangled the cable.
Shame I have to take them down!
Mile repeats my favorite back in the day: 3×1 mile 4:/50
, 5: 00, 510 per mile. But still only 15:27 PR for 5k. But I'm a big guy: 6ft 1 inch, 165 lbs, heavier now of course.
I ❤ adizero shoe line but I always buy them on sale or end of season because the prices are nutzo
I so wish Takumi series were a bit wider in the toebox.
Still love my TS8s for WOs but the Next% 2 still is faster for me in races from 5k to the marathon.
Hi EDD, happy new year….have you heard any more about the adios pro 4 release ? Thanks
Zero news on that one
From now on, my Boston 12s will identify as a pair of Takumi 10s. Same color scheme and I can barely tell them apart...
Love this channel. These or the Bostons?
Very different shoes. These are a lower weight blaster.
Dankeschön. Been running the last 200-300k in my Boston 12. Just love them. Maybe the Takumi for Intervalls?!
Ideal pairing 👍🏼👊
I’ve got a few pairs of adidas. Adios pro 2, prime x strung and adios 7. Never tried a takumi sen but I love the other 3 so might have to treat myself to a pair.
They are quite the shoe. Nimble and light without the max stack.
Ah Edd, starting off 2024 with an absolute banger of an initial review. 💥💣
Awesome as always. It's extremely hard not to want this shoe - the look and especially that green is calling me. (I can hear Evil Kermit's voice)😅
I look forward to more reviews and comparisons to see if it's worth using my Sen 9 as a trainer and potentially getting the 10 later.
Thank you Edd. 😎
Glad you enjoyed this one and thanks for the positive vibes.
I possess the Takumi Sen 9 and I love it as much as my vaporfly 2 for speedy sessions. Don’t think I will go to the 10 before the 11 goes out.
I use my Puma Deviate Nitro Elite Racer SP for speed sessions. 400km, the glitter on the midsole is disappearing but still running great. If they ever give up I might go for the Takumis.
Yes similar vibe in these two models
Very similar but the elites can do anything brilliantly, intervals to marathon..
What a beautiful shoe
Yes it’s a thing of beauty.
Very partial to a bed of lightstrike pro underfoot 👌
Me too!
Good morning Edd. First and foremost I would like to wish you a happy new year, full of health and happiness (and winning a very good lottery prize). I found the comment about the midsole foam durability and feel over time (compared to fuelcell and zoom x) one of the most interesting and spot comments. In this regard, I would love to know on how would you compare it against ffturbo, nitro elite, and pwrrun pb.
The lightstrike pro is one that benefits from some break in. But it retains its properties far longer than other foams.
Saturday evening here in Berlin... perfect time for my outing...😱 I'm a "Takumi fanboy". And...I'm hopelessly addicted to running shoes. Terminally ill. 100%. - Well, I'm feeling better now. It's official.😇 by the way, happy weekend-🏃♂️ @ll
They are a top draw addition. Very concise and subtle update
As a heavier runner I run in the Adizero Adios Pro line, the lightstrike is my favorite foam. I would like to see Adidas make a "Takumi Sen Pro" kind of like Saucony made a Kinvara pro but I am not sure how different it would be from the Adios Pro, maybe a wider heel and a notch in the midfoot
Lightstrike pro lasts forever too, amazing foam 💪
what would be the purpose of it tho?
That’s just the adios pro… it literally already exists
@@jp05598 @Clift0n to meet the needs of runners like myself who would like a taller stack for more cushioning and a wider heel, and no its not the Adios Pro because the Adios pro has a narrow heel
LOL. the comments. That's why the college course is called reading and comprehension
Good morning!
Morning!
Hey Edd, was waiting to hear about this shoe from you!
I got both TS9 and TS8 (obviously i love them)... and it takes a few miles to break in... before it becomes one of the best shoes ever!
From what some reviews are saying, this one pushes the foot every so slightly on the medial side... did you feel that?
It’s a little more firm in a good way.
I like the glass fiber roods better than the carbon rods - I Find them more snappy (or launching feeling). So i think ill stay with my takumi 8
Also ... Really want Adidas to create a true half marathon shoe - I.e. all light strike pro but with 36-38mm stack . Right now Adidas has a great 10k under racer (takumi) and a great marathon shoe (pro3).
I get what you're saying, but honestly why not just use the Pro? I don't think 36mm would have enough differentiation for most of us. Probably heavily depends on weight of the runner too. I love the Sen8 but at 205lbs I did a HM in them and...yeah... wouldn't likely do that again. LOL I'd probably take the Pro3 next time.
I was lucky enough to try that. Maybe it's just me but it feels wider compared to the previous version. It also feels a little stiffer but I really cannot tell the difference once I am running in them. In my opinion if your v8 or v9 is still good you don't need to get this one.
Bit stiffer and wider than Last time.
I feel like even 10 version is upgraded somehow, you wouldn't see a difference in performance with older: Takumi 8 and 9. Maybe feeling would be different but I guess that your results would be similar to older versions.
Sen 8 enthusiast here. i basically use them exclusively for track work and 5k races. gonna pick up the sen 10 when they're release in a different colorway lol not a big fan of the green color used here
They stand out! Best adidas colourway is always the black and white.
You can count on additional colorways if you wait a bit after launch of any shoes
Great review. Too bad sen 8 is already a bit too firm to me, so sen 10 is probably a pass.
If you only have one shoe for everything, what would you pick? Boston 12 or takumi sen 10?
I liked the 8s over the 9s although i probably could still use a bit of break-in (little over 100k) to soften up parts of the upper. I'm wondering if the top of the tongue is the more ridgid plasticy foam of the 9 or the softer fabric-like of the 8? The 9 tends to rub the front of my ankle and gets super uncomfortable within about 10k. If it was cut a little lower it wouldn't be a problem
More like a felt type tongue in this one
I have the 8s and 9s. My go to for 5k, 10k and VO2 max sessions. From what you're saying I won't be investing in the 10s until they're as discounted as their forebears.
Great shoe but hard to see the justification for having this year's model (unless you're a shoetuber).
It’s quite a bit firmer on takeoff now. I think it’s the new rods.
lots of green shoes back there
Green and white. Colours of my home town team
Looks like a real winner, unsurprisingly.
It’s a good update, hard to get it wrong
@@EDDBUD And this is the kind of update that the shoe companies need to concentrate on when they know they have a good formula, incremental stuff every two years or so, at least in my opinion.
Did you note in the sample size UK 8.5 that the 10 is meant to be 19g more than the 9 so interesting than only 10g for you over the 8. In our bigger sizes was expecting about 30g more which would kind of rendered it a little pointless for me. No sign of the 10 yet in a UK 13.5 so am currently “out” but struggling a bit to see the real point of this anyway if you have an 8 or 9 already. I like my 9 but never found it faster than the higher stacked shoes and obviously not as versatile. Good to hear it hasn’t got too much wider though. I had feared that was the reason for the weight increase.
You will need the 13.5 Tim. It’s still a glove of a shoe though at least not so harsh in the arch. Had my alphafly order cancelled sadly. Ran out of stock 😭
@@EDDBUD oh no! Mine have seemingly just arrived but am AWOL at moment. Ridiculous amount on StockX & eBay. Almost to the point of being a consideration. Will keep an eye out for the 10 in a 13.5. Seen 5 colours and we only have one so far. And yeah my days of buying 12.5 and cursing are gone :) Funny though as was for years I seemingly could get away with it. Old man’s collapsed arches perhaps …
I'm having the opposite hopes 😅
I was praying for more width at mid foot.
This why I missed the Taku 8 and ...finally got the 9 half size higher.
Now i have to fight the heal slip ...and the harsh upper is still squeezing my bones!
Well 🤷♂️
@@yalokim5264 hope it works for you. Very hard for all runners to fit into all shoes.
Well edited video! But what about that background music? I'm not a fan. Just a small detail for me though.
It’s been in the last thousand.
I just don't get on that well with adidas, the Pro 3 are rubbing the toes on my right foot quite badly and most of them are too narrow for my foot so I'll stick to my Streakfly (I do like the Prime X Strung V.1 though!)
Nothing quite like the primex strung
Looks similar to my pro 3s ??
I found the Takumi Sen 8 to narrow for me in the midfoot.. Takumi Sen 10 wider midfoot?
Bit wider now
I like to use the Takumi, but its too narrow for my foot. I can use adios pro 3 comfortably
Try parallel lacing
My TS9 keeps giving me blisters in my little toe. I really love it tho. If the 10 is indeed wider it would be a perfect shoe for me
Only a touch wider. May still have the issue
@@EDDBUD Thank you for responding 👍🏻
What is the upper like? I had two pairs of the Adios 7s with the mesh and both gave up within 100km
Really? I’m surprised to hear this
👊🦁
🥉
I don`t think the Takumi Sen are my Shoe, although they look interesting. I`m heavier and have a wide foot, so will stick to Boston 12`s. Maybe the Adios Pro 3 sometime in the future... who knows 😄
🎉
🥇
Nike Streakfly an excellent competitor in terms of price, but is it worth comparing in terms of quality 🤔 I’m sure adidas is the most balanced model and it’s not even worth arguing.
My pair of the streakfly had tears in the midsole after 100 miles. The outsole was not what I would call durable
Stop Ed, I can't spend more $$$ saving up for alphafly 3. 😂
If I was looking for a race day shoe fit a 10k- half marathon what shoe would you recommend say your top 3 :)
The Sen should be in there. Fast r nitro elite, maybe also the endorphin elite. All that bit more responsive shoes.
Thanks :)
So is 10 better than 9? if they cost the same
Yes
Hi midsole man, how much do you weigh?
About 72kg ish before pizza
Have you tried Elden Ring Edd? Banger.
Yes got so far and other games came along. Just finished dead space remake and have Jedi survivor next!
Absolut legend!@@EDDBUD
@@EDDBUDDS remake was great, but RE4 remake was my game of the year.
Is this ideal for a 2 mile race??
No reason why not
I’ve always had to half size down. 8.5 us to 8us for adidas. Have Bostons and adios pro 3 in 8US Should i get that 8 or 8.5?🤣
Don’t size down. Go true to size on this one
@@EDDBUD thanks Ed🤝🏾
Not a shoe for a Nervous Nerys! The trading estate is your jungle and you're top of the tree!
Ideal for going cruising this one.
Im 81kg. Does that count as a heavy runner?
I have the 9 but my arch is not happy with them
Sounds pretty light to me!
Adidas really make some stunners. Unfortunately, my wallet can't indulge my vanity.
That’s why we grab those 8/9 at the mo.
@@EDDBUD Oh I've already got the 8s.... but... SHUT UP BRAIN
Nike ZoomX Streakfly on the treadmill for the fast intervals between 86 and 90% of maximum heart rate. Adidas shoes sound like someone running with Dutch clogs!
It’s quite a rubber application here for sure!
Thanks for adding weight of person in to reviews. At 15 stone this won’t work for me.
Yes not enough perhaps width and cushion here. 👍🏼
£150 even with discount 😂 it's mad
Yes but a great shoe for the cash
