I've started taking my 1964 Cadillac apart to see what I am dealing with in order to restore the factory air conditioning. Not all is well. But then again, on such a classic car there will always be weird bodges and other signs of the car's long and tortured history.

What do you think? Have I bitten off more than I can chew? (I have a pretty big mouth 😱 )

Sali Mario. Back in the 80’s you used To be able to get double 3 1/2” speakers in a 4”x10” frame format for retrofitting old cars that had mono single front speakers. With that that you could run a stereo head unit. I believe your car has a retrofitted stereo head unit which is why you found right /left speakers hidden behind the dash. It wasn’t until the 70’s that actual stereophonic receivers were put in cars requiring right/left speakers. Before that multiple speakers only meant mono front/rear.

Mario...Such bravery. I hate dashboard - jobs. Well ... If I had a really large barn, then maybe...but still like nope! 🤣
That Caddy is missing a lot of screws...Good luck!

Welcome to the world of car restoration, Mario. This whole part of your life is going to be a series of things you won't be prepared for. Ask me how I know...

Great to see you opening up that can of worms. You are a smart guy so you should be able to fix it. It is a big car so you should have plenty of space...everywhere. Is the carburetor the right one for the car? It seems a bit too fresh. I think you have done the right choice to buy a new wiring loom. Can't wait for your new episodes. Keep 'em coming.

Please keep us posted on this build, where you’re getting your parts etc. I have a 65 Fleetwood.

You might as well replace the wiring, because the old harness is probably a brittle fire hazard. Also inspect all the vacuum hoses while you're in there. Like I've said before, these classic luxury cars were pretty complex for their time. If you don't do it right, you will be disappointed. Make sure to be careful with the connector pins and plugs because they too are brittle and unobtanium if you break them. Don't ask me how I know. Good luck.

Hi Mario. Research putting in Vintage Air. You can Google it. It will work much better than the automatic system, and probably cheaper too.

A single Bulb blowing a fuse?
One of the footwell Bulbs on the driver side?
Take care of the vacuum leak asap, your engine running lean which causing damage.
