Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"!
Train always wins vs a car, truck, suv. This is something most people don't understand. Respect a train and you will live another day.
Well, not Amtrak they and the trucks always lose
Thank you for showing 611's return to Roanoke. Mrs. James
I think that the B&O and C&O paint schemes were some of the nicest ones from the past.
Virtual Rainfan Grab Bag is my favorite show watching trains around the US and Canada traveling down the tracks
and the most beautiful scenery as well
Thank You very much.🤠👋🇺🇲🇨🇦

That one moment 3:20ish was worth a lot, The Queen whispering hello when she came home late at night...
Thanks for the two BNSF SD70MACS in Executive livery, VRF. Please catch as many as you can, whilst they are still with us.
What is that gorgeous hunk of iron in Roanoke? Too bad it was dark. I think I'm in love.
That is N&W 611
Salute bnsf crewman on 7431😊
The two NS locomotives running light in Roanoke at 0:40 are called "kissing locomotives". Apparently, two cabs coupled to each other this way results in a lot of pain for engineers to drive long hood forward, either direction!
It's been pretty well established that the highway markings are inadequate for ordinary drivers there.
And finally, the most dubious of Darwin Candidates...Trainhoppers.
Never a dull moment in SJC. Just add this to the list.
Bums and hobos used to have the sense to ride in the cars.
*Nice Catches 😊😮😊❤*
Great to see 611 running in Roanoke at 2:50 ish ! What a treat. The 16 unit power move at LaPlata with 3 bonnets didn't hurt either! Thanks VRF for fantastic entertainment AGAIN. cheers.
hello virtual railfan it's is randy and i like yours i like yours video is cool thanks friends randy
Well I guess we’ve seen it all with the Darwin in San Juan Capistrano.
Oh no you’ve not. 🙂
@@crickkett7510 Well you might be right. We’re dealing with humans and a lot of them try really hard to outdo everyone else.
Trains are so cool 😎
@dannyjohnson3335 I totally agree :)
Had a few Darwin Candidates in La Grange trying to beat the train like that.
Virtual Railfan Grab Bag is my favorite is Caltrain EMU flat car.
Been a while since I saw a Grab Bag clip live!
6:07 - Second view (East cam) was how I saw this impressive power move of 16
Wow! Great catch, Virtual Railfan, thank you.
2:09 that is the new Caltrain train which is ready for fall 2024. Also Caltrain is my local
Have not seen the BNSF golden swoosh in a while, Is it still running the rails?
11:20 Seriously, how would this risk ever be worth it? Absolute madness.
Oooooh, lovely! The Big J returns!
What are horizon cars doing on the capitol limited?
Thanks Virtual Railfan airing and sharing the outstanding video w with magnificent locomotives. Railfanning endeavors are prominent. Bliss
8:41, NS 4677 AC44C6M!
My friends and I are in the video at 16:15. Thank you for featuring us! It made our night!
BNSF 4722. Almost the Train Simulator engine from 99. Those Warbonnets were close to the three experimental H2 motors.
Does anyone know when the next CSX heritage unit is coming out
Love the C&O heritage paint! And seeing 611 in steam was a total surprise.
Great grabbag
I like how these videos are an exercise of 'spot the unusual one'.
0:08 CSX 1869

10:20 I cought that East Penn GE when CSX L042 brought it to Woodburn yard and I saw when M404 grabbed it from Woodburn
Always nice to see the N&W J Class 4-8-4 611 coming home, good video!🛤🚂
Nice catch, and was that a GE U25,or U30,from Minnesota Commercial?? Thanks for your always excellent work!! Thank you 😇 😊!!
I think that used to be the East Penn's (ESPN) B23-7.
Forgive my misconceptions, those engines were in view for some 30 seconds, and at a distance! B23-7's are close relatives of the U-boats,so therein lies my mistake! Oops 😬! Thank you for the side jokes, and banter!! Thank you 😇 😊!!
Is it just me, or does every Grab Bag have 1 repeat of the same clip?
It happens, we have a little different way of getting submissions. Sometimes when it's down to the deadline, one or 2 might be left in, we are working on it.
On The Atchison, Topeka & The Sante Fe
Is 611 set up for PTC now
Nice catch with 611.
I live in lagrange and see that all the time. That wasn’t even close lol
Great clips.... more steam would be nice...although the diesels are always welcome 🙂
16:27 Tanks a lot!
Again, lets run the track down main street. Great idea!
If you study railroad history and development you will find thru the 1800s (this line built in 1860-70s) that many communities wanted/had to have tracks thru mid-town for convenience and development as rail, other than horsepower or foot, was the only real efficient means of transport. See many towns along the Monon, Jack London Square in Oakland, CA, etc.
A few instances thru geographical layout, town development, whatever, like La Grange remain.
😮😮😮😮
"eh, he'll stop; everyone knows cars have the right of way!" >_
Nice footage!

What is the streamliner doing on a night like this
Tough ride on the last train hanging onto an autorack, there should be a Darwin Award.
This Grab Bag is showing a repeat of the same clip, look at 1:45 and 3:26, do those clips look the same to you guys?
Apparently stuck in a time loop, station clock lower right shows same time both clips.
I thought these were American Flyers, until I whipped my glasses. I zigged when I should of zagged.
THAT WAS CLOSE!!
You never cross under railcars and you never cross between auto racks.
Antrak 130 how bout that?
Who here is an Amtrak p42 fan?
Weather permitting, I like to watch them stop at Newton, KS around 3:00 AM.
Do you think that we could possibly get a live cam in Selma N.C at the diamond by Selma amtrack station
Why no freeze frame on the ACL/SCL painted units?
🇳🇱👏👏👏👍👍👍🍀
What's the HP per ton for the train at LaPlata? Isn't that like dividing by zero?
what's going on with Parkville ❓
Yeah what's going on with parkville?
did you just show the same video twice again
11:26 - train, I dare you!
You guys need a camera in Spokane WA
Multinational and nearly transcontinental Darwinism. As long as no trains were damaged...
Dude crawling under the tankcar in Revy probably would have crapped his pants if the brakes was let off and the cars bumped lol,the human race, hard to understand
Train might just have other ideas.
1:41 He is probably safe enough going under the car since the train cannot start up that fast. so he is not in that much danger. His danger comes from that second track which could very well have a high-speed train bearing down on him. I watched a video from an old documentary about train accidents and it showed a man and a woman who decided to cross in front of a train stopped at a station. What they did not know was that a high-speed passenger train was approaching on the adjoining track. The man was able to stop and jump back in time, the woman was not so lucky, she walked right into the path of the train. They stopped the video just before she was struck and killed. This is the danger this Darwin candidate really faces. In fact, it is the most dangerous thing every Darwin candidate faces when crossing through stopped trains, the unknown of what may be approaching on the adjoining track.
2nd
Please don’t pause the videos , it’s annoying
